Hi again Loz, Way you keep the birds closed in the breeding box? Always kept them only 2 weeks or something until they got eggs. After that every couple has his own box. Never got problems after this time. Have a good weekend.
Adrianus P.M. Heersche In a bigger loft thats what i would do but in these smaller boxes the cocks tend to go in each others boxes start fighting and the eggs can get cracked or broken, for that reason i let only the ones that dont fight out. cheers.
Thanks Loz, I am building your design of breeding boxes It is good to know because before my lofts were bigger. A few days ago I was in the north of spain. Before found out there is a guy with Birmingham rollers over there. Took with me 4 youngsters. The Birmingham is a very social bird but also quiet strong. At least what I can see now!! Send you already some fotos by email. Cheers.
Allan Carra I would only let them have 4 rounds mate at most, most of the birds I bred last year had 3 rounds each. I let one pair have 5 rounds but the last round had problems with the young so I think the parents were getting tired.
Hi it was a timed controller for the lights in the box it would dim them down slowly rather than just switching them off, i put it to allow the birds to feed for longer periods in the dark mornings and evenings, it would also control a heater if needed.
My pigeons love going out when its windy. They get up really good speed! But they are just 'normal' pigeons.. not rollers. Does the roller breed have problems flying in windy weather more than other breeds?
They can fly in the wind ok but the problems come when they land, they hover to land and thats the time when rollers roll so I get alot rolling down in strong winds plus they are not strong flyers like racers.
+MrPaj1985 Hi there, sorry no I dont have plans but I did a short vid on how it is constructed and the measurements. starts at 2.50 here...ruclips.net/video/8SVdeFpdMtg/видео.html
Blong Lee Hi yes the birds I bred last year are rolling really well now and kitting real tight. Just bred 10 young birds which are flying now hopefully have 25 to fly in the next month or so.
I used to have lights in the breeding boxes when it was dark winter mornings and evenings, the box is a timer/dimmer that would bring the lights on so the birds could feed for longer.

Thanks... yes just noticed your birds hover a lot when landing. My mutts just have a few wing flaps to land. You have very beautiful pigeons!
