It kind of is a old day thing not seeing the bride on the day before the wedding day, in that (Daniels sort of right) but back in those days of arranged ones they weren't allowed to see each other at all, not just the day or night before. Was to prevent the groom from seeing the bride and if they thought they were unattractive, they couldn't back out of it, therefore casting shame on the brides family.
