*"Killing Me Softly with His Song"* is a song composed by Charles Fox with lyrics
by Norman Gimbel. The lyrics were written in collaboration with Lori Lieberman
after she was inspired by a Don McLean performance in late 1971.
Lieberman released her version of the song in 1972, but it did not chart. In 1973
it became a number-one hit in the United States, Australia and Canada for Roberta
Flack, also reaching number six in the UK Singles Chart. In 1996, Fugees recorded
the song with Lauryn Hill on lead vocals, their version became a number-one hit in
twenty countries.
Both versions by the Fugees and Roberta Flack were placed on the 2021 revised
list of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Love the rendition, love to hear what you could do with " the impossible dream", only heard one ever catch my attention with it and that was Luther Vandross, but Chris with your warming voice I think you do wonders as you've done many before, just an idea, anyway again great rendition

The one from Don Quixote (Man of La Mancha), or another I'm not familiar with? Believe it or not, Jim Neighbors, of Gomer Pyle fame (my generation anyway), did a rendition of that song that wasn't half bad. That powerful baritone wasn't what I expected to come out of an actor that used that tenor range nasally voice playing Pyle. Another that would surprise you is Jackie Chan (not this song but others) who was actually operatically trained. I will go catch the Vandross version.
Done, caught the Royal Albert hall version with full orchestra. I am in agreement, very nice. And the opening part of my question is obviously now rhetorical.
@@MrJdsenior I grew up also watching gomer pyle, Jim neighbors does have an amazing voice, it's just the softness Luther puts in it that grabs the heart
