Honestly… everyone clowned on Jack Black, Seth Rogan, and Chris Pratt in the Mario Movie and they ended up doing an actually pretty good job with the characters. Bowser was as much of a threat as he was in the games, if you weren’t listening for it you wouldn’t notice Seth in the movie (“Now you die.” Is also a standout meme), and yeah, Mario doesn’t soun Italian, but he’s _not_ Italian, he’s from Brooklyn with family from Italy, of course he sounds like he’s from New York because he _is._ At the very least Jack Black does actually look like an older Steve, so the role isn’t completely unwarranted. I’m just really hoping he doesn’t become the next The Rock where every movie he’s in and every character he plays is the same
