Been watching this build since the start and there is not a single time that I click on the new video that I do not flash back to the mental image of someone sliding around the red mould in the bunny suit. Then I marvel at how far this has come along. Can't quite wrap my head around the reality that this project is going in the water soon.

To drill your stainless, use 135° split point cobalt drills. Keep steady pressure using a good cutting fluid. Avoid running the drill too fast or letting up on the pressure and spin the drill bit causing heat. If you allow it to heat AT ALL, the stainless will work harden into something like as tough as a file or carbide....so hard to drill. Slow steady pressure with good sharp cobalt is the key. None of the black oxide, titanium coated garbage will do unless you throw them out after every hole.

We truly are starting to feel the excitement right along with you about the impending completion of this monumental project. It reminds me very much of Noah! ;)
What is it that makes the carbon fiber so light weight yet so strong? If it can make a mast that can stand alone, it just boggles my mind!

Hi Ross, I've been watching this build from the very beginning and as far as I am concerned you are the composite guru.
If you have a second (you probably don't) could you let me know how running the carbon down the length of the joints is preferable in this situation? I'm only self taught but have always put fibers at 90 degrees to a joint to link the 2 surfaces together. Am I doing it wrong?
Love your work and attention to detail as always, can't wait for the launch but will miss the build content.
Thanks so much for the countless hours of content you have provided.

    Good episode Ross
Would it be worth it to curtain off the open end of your tent to keep the dust and dirt out?

Looks like Davits are just bolted onto the bottom, correct? If so I think they will need to be through bolted through the transom as well

do you think the texture will mess up the sealant when you go to set the guard rails ?

Is it harder to see air bubbles under the carbon to get them rolled out?

It's much of a muchness in reality, need to be meticulous in each case.

Carbon has very little strength 90° to its axis. If you wanted torsional strength on the rudder tubes, the axis of the carbon would need to be running sideways or 90° or 45s to the tubes. The way those are would give a lot of flex strength side to side but not as much as could be for torsion. Grab a string out of the cloth and try it for yourself. Pulling it lengthwise it is super strong and you likely couldn't break it. But pinch it between your thumbs and slide it sideways and it will just come apart like a wisp. This is very important to know about carbon....something that sub guy didn't bother to learn when he made his sub unidirectional.

Surely you know they make wet paper for a DA at least up to 1500. Why not use a DA?
