Here's the crazy part: This is their first song of their first set of their first live tour after two years' hiatus. They lost their founder and bassist, and conducted a global search for a replacement. They wrestled with doubt and sadness through the pandemic. Two of them got married and had babies. And then they came back, more explosive than ever.

The bassist is Fami who replaced Miho. She has more subscribers on YT than Lovebites!!! She is 21!! This is for me a Haruna - Fami showcase. They are killing it all the way through.
Don’t think they have released a track where they have been this pumped up. The pent up energy of the best part of 2 years away from the stage flooded out and drove this brilliant performance. Everything was at 11!!!
Keep a look out for live versions of their ballads; Empty Day Dream, Epilogue, or Edge of the World. These would be from their 2020 'Five of a Kind' or 2019 'Daughters of Dawn' concert DVDs. For that matter, pretty much everything from those two concert DVDs is top notch.

One good bass player (Fami) replaced another good bass player (Miho) . But...... Miho for LOVEBITES was more than just a good bass player. LOVEBITES lost more with Miho's departure than they gained with Fami's arrival. The band lost the one who was the leader and the “brain” of LOVEBITES. Thanks to Miho's ideas and her vision of the development path, an unknown new band from Japan very quickly gained international recognition. The next year after the creation of the band , LOVEBITES already gave 3 concerts in London (2017)! Two years after the band's formation, LOVEBITES received the prestigious GOLDEN GODS Award from Metal Hammer (London, June 2018). LOVEBITES has lost a writer who wrote 23% of the band's songs ( in 2016 -2021).Many of which became hits LOVEBITES. Like, for example, the song The Hammer of Wrath. Which became the hallmark of LOVEBITES. Since 2016, this song has been performed at almost all LOVEBITES concerts ( and rock festivals in which the band participates). It was Miho who came up with the ideas: the musical concept (what kind of music the new band will play); the performance of songs in English; on stage in white dresses (which is not typical for metal bands and may not be accepted by fans of metal in the West, which Miho was primarily focused on when I created the band). Even the choice of Asami as a vocalist(who did not know what heavy metal was!!! sang only soul, R&B, jazz) was made largely thanks to Miho. If it weren’t for Miho, LOVEBITES as a band would not exist at all ! Etc. etc. When auditioning bass players, Fami says she found it difficult to play Miho's bass parts. Fami also says that she "had to go through a lot of trial and error before she could play the bass lines correctly" in songs written by Miho. For example, in Golden Destination. Two of the four songs (Golden Destination and The Hammer of Wrath) that candidates had to play during the qualifying competition ( 5th ELEMENT ) for the position of bassist in LOVEBITES were songs written by Miho!!! Fami still has to spend at least 5-7 years to gain that enormous experience (as a professional musician) that Miho had at the time of her departure from LOVEBITES. For example, when Fami was 11 years old, Miho was already performing in the US as part of DESTROSE ( in 2013 and in 2014). Etc., ect. In September 2023, the band CHAOS CONTROL's Album 'The Legacy Within' was released. Miho took part in the recording of this album (11 songs). If you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend watching the MV 'The Legacy Within', with Miho on bass.

I have a slightly different view. Miho for sure had the Great Original Idea to bring back the NWOBHM and update it. But over time I think Asami had become the 'leader', and it's always been obvious that Miyako is the 'brains' of the band. That said, Miho is a Great bass player, every bit as good as Fami. I wonder if that slap-bass solo in the new Chaos Control song was a Miho 'statement'. I'm just glad they found someone who 'fits' - that's the most important thing in a 'band'. They are all having a blast together and seem to really love one another . . and they don't have to deal with Miho's drinking.

I've been a fan of music since the 70's. My thoughts of great metal boils down to two things. You must have ELITE drummer and ELITE sound team. There have always been varied styles of vocals and guitar configurations. They all had great drummers and a team of people who were able to let you hear how great the band musicians were. Having a great sound team is a must and probably an art in itself.
I agree…..Lovebites is one of the world wonders that never stops to stun us. In addition, they keep evolving from this super high level. Where are they going? I recommend studio version of Judgement day or Wind of Transylvania, live or studio; Vlad version.

Next time check out ONE OK ROCK, which is hopefully soon, you should check out "Kanzen Kankaku Dreamer" at Yokohama stadium Mighty Long Fall tour. They almost always play it for an encore or to end the show. If you heard it already then one of their more upbeat and fun songs that's a must hear is "kimishidai ressha" also at Yokohama stadium.

5 of the best rock musicians on the planet. As great as Asami is, I would put two other singers above her with Floor, Simone Simons of Epica and Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers. Listen to Simone on Unleashed and Brittney on Tonight We Ride to see what I mean. Both are stunning vocalists.

As great as Asami is, I would put two other singers above her with Floor, Simone Simons of Epica and Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers. Listen to Simone on Unleashed and Brittney on Tonight We Ride to see what I mean. Both are stunning vocalists.
I agree. I love Asami, and she is perfect for LOVEBITES, but there are better female metal singers around, with Floor probably being the best of them all (in my opinion).

The remaining girls organised an audition for a new bassist from around the world and recruited a new bassist called Fami(Ba).

First: nice new tune! Next - I have given this quite a bit of thought over the last 24 hours so hope you will bear with me! I have really enjoyed your 3 reactions to Lovebites: Holy War, Swan Song and now, Hammer of Wrath are a good start. I will say that since I discovered them 1.5 years ago, I have listened to all of their stuff, and they don't have many bad songs (if any). That said, they are meant to be listened to live, so I eliminated any song that doesn't have a live version on YT. But my strong recommendation, in order to form a comprehensive view of this amazing band (including with the new bassist, Fami) is that you listen to these 5 next (in order!):

Although LOVEBITES can mix musical styles in their songs, if you had to classify this song into a metal sub-genre, it would be best described as Thrash Metal.
Set the world on fire , empty daydream,, etc , all their songs are good you can go wrong ^^

I started listening to NIGHTWISH when Tarja Turunen was still in the band. I even went to Tarja Turunen's concert after she left NIGHTWISH))). You're right about EPICA. I haven't listened to this band much. LOVEBITES is currently #1 on my list of favorite bands.
