It’s actually kinda interesting to see Unggoy and Kig-yar combat forms since they did exist in halo wars back then but nowadays they’re most likely used as biomass
It's interesting on a technical note, just seeing it be done is pretty neat in terms of animations I mean. Lore-wise, I think being turned into biomass would be better right? Unless you're somehow conscious and able to perceive the entirely of the Flood's psychic domain, which is a level of existential horror that I wouldn't wish on anyone no matter the horrors they might have perpetrated
I always thought it was a real missed opportunity to have the flood take over enemies as part of the gameplay. As in the more Covenant that get killed in battle, the more flood you have to fight.
Actually they can. Jackals anyway.. but they don't last long in combat form and become biomass rapidly. Hunters can't because it's just a ton of worms. But they breed biomass even more rapidly to create pure forms that's for sure.
the jackals could in halo wars, and that's where the design is from I believe. they are just EXTREMELY fragile and poor in quality, which is why they mostly end up as biomass.
I was hoping we see something like that, you know, since that's the who reason they existed. It'd be cool. Say in Infinite, the three way conflict on Zeta Halo inadvertently released the flood making things a chaotic 4-way conflict. If combined well with the open world concept, it would've been awesome.
@@Nekros-t9e I have suspicions about that. I think they removed the Flood from Halo, and acquired Call of Duty, so that American teenagers could legally be immersed in military, and security culture from the age of 12, which gets around the military propaganda restrictions, before they move on to legally being of age to play Call of Duty. It has nothing to do with whether or not they want to make a good story, or whether or not they respect the concepts or themes expressed in Halo. They want to identify and recruit 12 years old into armed forces service and surveillance--and with Minecraft, they've even got kids as young as three.
@@3mpt7 idk about this military conspiracy considering recruitment rates in the US military have been the worst they've ever been. Anyways the more realistic thing would be that the flood in a 343 game would make it a rated M for sure due to body horror and other grotesque imagery. Infinite is rated T so it can get as many players as possible. Hell if they neutered it any more I think Infinite wasn't too far away from an E rating.
@@Nekros-t9e I'm Australian. We get the news about America because that fills in the time we would spend worrying about our own country with other matters. It's not a conspiracy, it's just the tired reality. Minecraft is E, with zombies, spiders, and creepers. Halo is T. Call of Duty and Gears of War is M. All are run by Microsoft. What they don't seem to get is that recruitment was better when Halo was rated M (although that could just be coincidence). But hey, between you and me, do the Brute's faces look plastic, inspired by orcs, and worse than the Halo Reach faces?
The only one that didn’t make sense was the Hunter, since the worms don’t have enough neurons to become a combat form (love the reference to the Juggernaut in it though) Another version I saw was that the worms were used as biomass and the Hunter became a pure form wearing Hunter armor
Imagine being a UNSC marine alone on a random ring flood everywhere, fighting for you life when you see a spartan, the hero of humanity legendary of pall spartans, infected by the flood
The Prometheans should be backed up by the Sententials; would honestly be interesting to see the whole variety of Prometheans and Sentential types fending off a full Flood assault.
@aaronthebossyt_4720 yes but the flood overlook them because there nit worth infecting. Went over this in a few of the books. They don't give enough bio matter to justify infecting them and a lone worn has no combat use
Yeah people get that confused haha. They can be infected, they just wouldn't be suitable for combat forms, the flood probably juat incorporate them as biomass.
If I recall correctly, Hunters can get infected, but only one worm at a time by an infection form, as the infected worm gets ejected from the colony. Unless they're all exposed to the airborne spores.
What I find strange is how the infection forms aren't used up when they infect. The spore you see in a combat form is the spore that infected them, they don't just leave the body after infection
Idk man the ODST kicking his legs as he get assimilated is just so creepy. It’s so human. It’s so like, fighting for control and then it just… stops. The infection form has his central nervous and he’s dead. But he’s still moving. It just affected me. It’s such a good detail.
The Flood animations for infecting human corpses freak me out. I always figured the Flood were still adapted to taking over human bodies from their previous war since a portion of Flood survived the Forerunner-Flood War into present day. Flood were taking human colonies before the Forerunner-Flood War even started so they'd know how to do it quickly. Humans sure do turn faster than most of the other species
Very nice. Just need to look into master chief somehow sprouting an additional head. Like how the hunter has elements of the juggernaut and the brutes loose jaw.
man these flood forms are awesome! Something about the grunt flood is telling me he needs to be running on all fours fast as hell lol but thats just me
In halo wars there were infected grunts although useless they were there most of the time grunts and jackals would be used as biomass and jackals used as carrier forms due to their bodies being not good enough for combat forms so they would be used to construct the proto-gravemind
The only members of the covenant that aren't able to be converted to combat forms are the engineers (they are more alike to a biological construct) and the hunters (or any lekgolo variant, they have no bone structure). Drones and jackals can be used as a quick infection vector if the oportunity comes. However the jackals are bird-like, and their bones are porous to handle sudden motions and agility, what makes them not ideal for long battle since, with the muscle mass quickly degrading and the bones barely withstanding the fast metabolic shift, any hit stronger than a punch would break the bones. About drones i theorize they would be made into proximity mines. They have very few flesh, and the chitin body has to be broken to both allow an infection form to penetrate, and the body to expand to accomodate the flood control. They certainly would lose the capability to fly for cheer weightand the movement would be impared as the body expands and breaks. Though perhaps they could keep a sudden burst of movement as they catapult themselves with their legs towards a victim, and fast production of gas would make them explode on a cloud of infected flesh, chitin fragments, and flood spores. Unggoy (grunts) are other plausible combat form, after all they are bulky and resilient. Think the main reasons they aren't chosen to be converted into combat forms often are: -they are slow and move awkwardly; -their nervous system is all messed up; -they are more flesh than bone, making them preferable as biomass.
god damn that is super impressive! may i ask how you went about this? there was another guy in the modding discord trying to do this but it had various limitations
It never happened in lore because the Chief never died or got infected lol But its entirely possible for all Spartans to get infected. Just the difficultly varies. When they do get infected though, theyre basically a living nightmare due to the armor, shield, and bones of the Spartan. There is also a code word for UNSC if this occurs where the use of nuclear weapons is authorized and other deadly weapons. Code Corrupter.
There is now an official confirmed case of a Spartan being infected by the flood. At least 1 of the Spartans in Fireteam Leviathan were infected during the site 22 mining operation. The source: Halo: Saturn devouring his son.
I was not expecting the beginning of the grunt actually fending for himself just to get executed
Yeah, and that little “meep” the grunt makes upon getting hit got a good chuckle outta me.
“Ah man!” The odst said slightly annoyed as the flood form ripped his guts open
"Ay los mio, not again..."
The idea of a hunter becoming infected by the flood is terrifying even though its impossible
Its possible cuz is all flesh... Everything that is living can be turned into flood cuz they are all flesh even the old CE engineers...

also because hunters are made up out of a bajillion worms

I need this in a campaign like rn.
The idea of having the Hunter turning into an abomination full of tentacles is sick and fitting!
This shit used to give me nightmares back in the day.
This looks great, it'd be cool to see this in halo 2 uncut
I find it cool how the Hunter's flood variant is a combination of it's own thing and the Juggernaut form
This is actually a really cool mod. Love the idea with this and all of the models, especially the grunt one, are actually done extremely well.

I always theorized the carrier forms were grunts because the feet looked very similar to a grunts
Actually that makes a crap load of sense. They are very robust climbers with strong legs and bones.
According to lore. While elites and Marines become combat forms, the grunts were supposedly converted to carrier forms.
Same with jackals but half the time they would mostly be used as biomass for graveminds
the grunts with assaults rifles are easily the most cursed thing here
