Good to see you are doing ok. Not a real bad table, good for what you were making. Maybe a good basis for upgrades, dro, new dials and lead screws. Thanks for sharing.
Sorry to hear you got Covid. I was lucky to get it twice. This second time was almost 2 years ago and it just doesn’t want to let go. Extreme fatigue and feel myself getting weaker. I have to fight back mentally and get going again. Love your vids
Look at getting a Vevor milling vice for your table. They are really cheap and I’m pleasantly surprised how good mine is plus it will clamp straight on to the t slots
That Covid is rough. Felt bad for 3 days, then fever and flu for 5 days, then about 5 weeks of being just straight exhausted all the time; 3 weeks of it to the point I couldn't hardly do anything and would get tired and start running a fever again. That cold sucked. It was 3 months before I could taste the flavor in some foods again. Do you think that is a metric pitch on the thread of the table?
Hey Nik i have one got it on sale no brand same table and i mounted a 6 in. vice on it and like you said good for holes . so i was watching the video and looking at your table and i think one could mount a cheep dro on it maybe X only . i was going to say mount a 12 in. rule on it but if you mount something big it would block your line of sight . JM
Hey Nik I have an old Sears and Roebuck model it’s good and tight I’m guessing it’s from the 60 s they don’t make them like that anymore we hope you feel better hang in there
Maybe leave this drillpress setup with the table and tapping head? Might work well for that. I spent yesterday in my shop making a backing plate for a little 3" Vevor chuck to go on my small Vevor rotary table. Vevor quality isn't perfect, but it is really quite good, and with a little effort, I come out with a tool that works. Get well, Nik..
Yeah, same here. When I get a drawing with metric measurements in order for my brain to function at all in the office I transpose all metrics to imperial. One more step is all.
G'day Mr Nik, Interesting video. I've been looking around for one of these for my drill press and to maybe put a motor on it for left and right movement. I got covid-19 a bit over 2 yrs ago, and I'm still struggling with fatigue. I've also been stuck down with pneumonia twice in 12 months. I've heard it called long-covid. Anyway thanks for sharing its always great to see one of your videos. ✌️Peace.
@NikColyerMachineWorks I actually think covid-19 has been put here by aliens and their hiding out behind the moon until everyone has gone, and then they will inhabit the earth. Yes. 😋
I can see a major problem with this setup, at least it would be for me, and that's the considerable extra weight. Having no rack or other means of assistance for raising and lowering the drill press table I would have remove the x-y table every time I needed to adjust the z height.
You are very right. I'll either have to counter balance the table or get a whole other drill press dictated for the mill table. Turns out I have an extra drill press.
The stuff a guy has to do to make money. Lol. I have a grizzly version of that which is probably made in the same place in China. I have an enco radial drill press that I use as a light duty mill. I was able to adjust most of the slop and backlash out of it. Seems to do pretty well. Some day, I will get an actual milling machine. But it works.

soon I will have 2 knee mills and this issue will be solved.
Heal quickly Nik buddy, nice review on an ok item, Vevor make some nice enough stuff, tough tools for half the cost
I'm almost all the way back to normal.

Even though I feel weaker I'm back at the gym doing what I can so my muscles don't go weaker.

Yeah, every time I think I've over it, I overdo it and back a few steps. It is a nasty one.

Good idea. If I only had time.

They did make more solid stuff back in the 60's

Vevor is basically a good product, but the finish is always a bit rough.
I added the Igaging dro’s (x,y and z) to my drill press cross table, a very nice upgrade
That should work just fine.
Are the dial incriments in metric?
Yes, probably, but my brain doesn't work in metric.
@NikColyerMachineWorks over here in UK we seem to use both systems, and sometimes used together.

Hope you kick the covid Nick , a guy has a hard enough time as is without that crap !!! Good job .
I'm getting better every day

Yes. 😋
When was this recorded? Covid summer 2023?
Yup, recorded last week.
@@NikColyerMachineWorks Have You been in the wrong company?

did u get the vevor mill table for free for doing the review?
Yes, I did get it for free. Want to buy it for $75.
It will soon
I would remove the lower lead screw and put a rubber boot around the thrust bearing and lead screw, or it will be full of chips in no time.
Good point. I'll check that out.

I like Enco brand. Too bad they sold out.
Take it easy nic that Covid is no joke
Man, you can say that again. I ain't laughing.
