    The G4560 seems like it had a short life.... or did it? Today we test it out at similar settings to what I was looking at in my reviews of these cards, and that is 1440p ultrawide with high or ultra settings (depending on the game), and the pentium gets some.... interesting results!

      @Der Gönnjamin I remember going from the B version 2.53Ghz, to C 2.8Ghz, to 3.2Ghz. Overclocking all the way of course. Although the Athlon 64 was kicking their butts at the time, I really liked them. Single core, but it had hyperthreading, lol.

    I'm running this chip and it's working really well. I run my G4560 with 8GB RAM and a 1050 Ti and it runs any game I throw at it at medium-high with variable framerates (though I usually just cap it to 30 for consistency, if it can't reach 60 at all).

      Well i can tell u that x58 w3680 at 4.5ghz is a bottleneck. Most games don't see to much performance loss but there are some like csgo, destiny 2 , ac origins that are heavily bottleneck by the cpu.
      Just got my 2080ti and waiting on the mb cpu to upgrade and csgo its not even passing 20% utilization on the gpu were the most other games are around 70-90% still give less fps even if they are at 98-99% .

    • @ionitaconstantin1052
      @ionitaconstantin1052 5 лет назад

      @Panagiotis Papanastasiou well u can upgrade the GPU now and the rest later but tbh if u don't plan a cpu mb ram upgrade its best to just get a a rx 580 or 1660/ti and call it a day.
      Most likely the next gen u can upgrade the cpu mb ram for cheaper whit a ryzen zen2 and the a better gpu down the line since that combo will last u a good few years. Just my 2 cents.

    Great Video Mr Tech Yes City Thanks
    I was a bit surprised that the Pentium was able to feed that video card as good as it did surprised indeed.
    Because of you testing that lower end CPU and it only being a dual core it basically answered my own question with my system. I have a i7 2600K@5.1GHz and was pondering the idea of getting a 1080Ti or 2080 but was worried that the older Sandy Bridge might be a bottle neck for either of those cards. Extracting your performance numbers I can conclude my much faster Sandy Bridge than this Pentium would be more than able to feed this 2080 GPU and then some. Thank you again you answered my question without me even asking it...:)

    I believe hardware unboxed did a review that showed the g4560 bottlenecks on average after gtx 1060 6gb and in some rare cases it didnt bottleneck a 1070.
    I suspect it's best suited for a used gtx1060 or rx480/580 under $200 or a 1050ti at or under $100

    Hey @Bryan. I always thought that on intel mobos mismatched RAM ran in ‘flex’ mode? As in 4GB on each stick runs in dual and the extra 4 on the other stick runs single? Or did they stop doing that? My mate had a H97 that used to do this (it ran in ‘flex’. CPU-Z used to always say it was running in dual).

      The question is the same: will our 4690k bottleneck a 2080/2080ti ? And if yes, how much we will lose in performances ?
      Changing the CPU nowaday is pretty 'hard' in terms of costs, cuz i will need to replace also the mainboard and ram. Dont really wanna do those steps right now with those GPU prices also.....

    You need faster CPU for higher frame rates and faster GPU for playing at higher resolution.
    If your monitor is 1440p which for me is the sweet spot value and you have GTX1060Ti or RX580 and just want to game at 60+ fps you can get away with i3-6100 just fine.
    Computer stores sell i7 with GTX1050Ti so that they can take your money twice when you "decide to upgrade" one day which never happens.
    Check out all the PCs for sale on the used market with i7-4790 (non K) and Z97 motherboard, because it costs more and customers are dumb and GTX950 or 960 at best.

    My laptop has I5-4300U (2c4t low power) paired with HD8750m 1GB and 8GB RAM, It sure can play some older titles cuz of that sweet WXGA(1366x768) resolution :D Even tried BF3 and it ran pretty much 60fps but had some bad hiccups every now and then. Guess it was cpu hitting power limit :/

    Still with an i3 6100 here and a GTX1050ti. I'm not into multiplayer/competetive gaming, but I'm a Fallout fan and the upcoming title is stricktly online so I'm considering upgrading with a second hand Ryzen 5 1400 or 1600 and an RX480 if I manage to sell at a nice price my current gpu-cpu-mobo.

    I was given a g5600 for free from a friend. I plan on building a cheap itx rig with it and putting linux on it to save money and to dabble in linux. And to start showing people gaming on linux has become more viable. I can't wait to get off of windows

    I cant remember, but there is another game that runs great on a dual core cpu, but is really bad on a quadcore.. not sure if it was some older Need for speed-game, or something. Or if it was that the performance was less because of hyperthreading.. so maybe something like that in WoW

    So out of curiosity if the 2080 is too much for the G4560 then how high of a gpu would be the limit? 1080?

    • @forza1sra
      @forza1sra 6 лет назад

      Skott62
      1060 is as high as you should go. Even then it will bottleneck at 1080p. The bottleneck is of course reduced as you increase the resolution.

    If someone can afford an RTX 2080, or any ray-tracing card for that matter, they can most definitely afford a CPU that's a hell of a lot better than a Pentium Gold. If they can afford such a highly-priced GPU, why settle for the cheapest of the cheap lowest of the low CPU?
    I'm all for saving money on a CPU when you've already got a GPU that kicks ass, but if you can spend $700 on a graphics card, you can definitely spend $120-$350 on a quad-core or hexa-core that's that's actually meant for these top-of-the-line GPU's, unlike with the Pentium Gold which is going to be almost 100% bottleneck on any GPU that isn't a budget GPU.

    You should see what the lowest end CPU is that won't bottleneck this card in the majority of games. Example would be to test the 7100, 8100, 1200, 1200x etc until you find the one which won't bottleneck.

  • @carlos2004

    I need the opposite of this. Since my main game is warframe, my gpu (rx 470) just coasts while my cpu is always holding it back. This game is actually the reason why I even decided to upgrade to ryzen from my i7 2600 in the first place. Not only that, but in most of the games I play i tend to drop settings to get those higher frames and my gpu is never fully used. I'm pretty sure that even if I was running a gtx 1050, my cpu would still bottleneck.

    Hi there, i have an g4560 paired with a 1050ti. I'm fine with it cauz most of use is casual gaming and emulators. But your vidéo make me feel that this cpu can do more surprisingly. Can you made the same with an rtx 2060 and compare the results with rtx 2080 (and even the oc one). It should be interesting to point the bottleneck thing for this cpu. And then i surely subscribe to your channel. Thanks by the way for this interesting test vidéo.

    cpus being bottlenecks in current gen games is usually a myth. or at least not as significant of a deal.

  • @bobhumplick4213
    @bobhumplick4213 6 лет назад

    thats still dual channel memory even if they are not the same size sticks. the first 8 gigs will be dual while the last 4 will be single. if a board has only 2 ram slots and both are filled then the capacity of the smaller stick times 2 will be in dual channel mode.
    these lower end cpus look alright going by the averages but the stutter and microstutter is awful. the frametime graphs in afterburner show it well. competitive multiplayer games (besides dota or wow) are really hard hit. story based games arent that bad though especially if you are just going for aroun 60fps with high res
