I so wished the film had developed their relationship more. The moment when he holds her beneath the waterfall is just so beautiful. What I wouldn't give to hold a woman like that.
This song gives me full body chills every time! I love their facial expressions... leaving everlasting impressions. I find myself in tears, completely with her in this. The glance down before she jumps, was truly a brave thing to do- especially with committing through with it afterwards. Knowing she could easily give in to her captors, but her faith and commitment in her love was stronger. I couldn't imagine life without the one the soul is bonded to, no pleasure or purpose in life can ever replace it. I've gone skydiving, cliff diving and the feeling of falling just is breathtaking... the decision to jump never easy especially once you give yourself time to scope everything out and overthinking begins to click in. She's got balls of steel and a heart so full of love for this man... I'm so moved by her decision.. She knows... Beyond her own logical knowing, it's just her entire being, the entirety of her heart... This is a rare character trait of loyalty and I honor it. its brave.
spiralrose I would like to read that script. I heard that her mother was against that part. If I had been that girl I'd told my mother to back off. I'd ask her : don't you have to do something in the kitchen ;) ;) ;)
Melanie Hayward as much as we would love to see it, I think it was the right decision. Just the fact that their love was so strong even though they didn’t have much dialogue, just showed how powerful their connection.
Alice was very young & naive, her idea of love was probably based on shivelry, & not sexual. Uncas had feelings for her after the 1st ambush, as she paused at the waterfall. Uncas was her protector, & I think she was looking for him when Magua brought them to the sachem. I cried when Uncas looked at his father as if to say "I am going to get my Alice" then ran up the mtn after her, you knew he loved her then. Her love was shown as she chose to be with Uncas in death, than go on without him.
to me this was the meaning of true love... sacrifice everything, fight for her heart and fall together in the stillness of their hearts... and eternity ... you will never be apart...
@phonelady61 It's too bad he didn't wait before charging after her; I agree that he reacted purely on instinct to save the woman he loves, but in doing so he got himself killed, which is just heartbreaking. After watching the film for the first time, I wanted so badly for these two to have their happy ending, to go off with Hawkeye, Cora, and his father to Can-tuk-ee and have lots of little gorgeous babies; I would yell at the screen, "WAIT Uncas, just a few minutes and you'll have back-up!"
I saw it as a teenager, a young woman's eyes and experience, now I see it as older woman that can understand that haunted look in her eyes and can relate. Also as a mother I feel that rage at his death.
The best and most memorable sequence of the movie. Seeing it for the first time, as a kid ( I was around 11 if I recall it correctly), I was shocked, but at the same time I found it beautiful and chatartic. It is a great film overall, but this was the moment that really made it for me ... Alice with her look on her face right before she jumps has been burnt into my memory forever.
And the real scene stealers in this movie...Alice and Uncas. That's what I call chivalry.Just wish most of there scenes would'nt have been taken out.You could do a movie just about these two.Still one of my favorites though. This part gets me every time and I never get tired of looking at Eric!
I just enjoy being takin back to my first gf, a similar experience of holding hands, first hug, first kiss, and how most of us who don't stay in there first relationship like my folks God Bless them, relationships can become repetition for some, or like me stay single not dating an wait for this kind of love, but not settle for today's version of love.
Jope porque terminan matando al chico 😢 e visto. Alguna más y en todas los matan 😮 no puede terminar. Que se van. A vivir su vida ..caray con todo lo que pasan. A pudiera ser que es indio ? Bueno. Jope que pedazo de tristeza el final .😢
I Love It when the Rock moves when "DDL" brushes up against it @ 2:42! I don't know why they needed to make a Tarp look like a Rock in the first place? I guess it's a Director kind of thing!? Just like Filming in the "Blue Ridge Mountains" of North Carolina, instead of where it actuallyhappened,as I was Born, and Raised in Upstate New York, (Syracuse) though I lived in NYC for year's,and have been almost Everywhere Upstate! I remember when helping My Oma with her Garden's,she lived in Fayetteville,NY. I would dig up many small Musket Balls, and Arrowheads of different shapes! My Dad would take us to Herkimer,NY and dig up "Herkimer Diamond's"! This was back in 1971 when I was 7,I miss those Day's,and All my Treasure Chest full with Herkimer Diamonds,Musket Balls, Arrowheads among other Artifacts! I was a Carnie during the New York StateFair near the very polluted Onadaga Lake! In the 70's I went to so many "Forts" all around Upstate,New York! What a "Wundebar" childhood filled with so much Culture, and Hisorical places! When I lived in Boston,Ma,as well as in Gloucester, there again History was in our backyard!!
@xloveXghoulx yes eric schweig played the bad medicine man brujo in the movie the missing . he did an excellent job at that as well too . But to me he will always be uncas .
@8MagicalDreamcatcher where did you get the background music? I would like to download it. What is the title of the background music? BTW, nice video. I always love Uncas and Alice. Their love is far more intense than Cora and Nathaniel. It's true love.
@TanyanikaZ I totally agree with you on this one . If he did not love her , he would have waited for hawkeye aka nathaniel and his father to catch up and they all three would have gone after her . I think Uncas thought if they let her go he would never see her again and he could not let that happen .
@xloveXghoulx Google 'Eric Schweig', you will find many movies and even some current TV shows, but they are Canadian, so I haven't had the pleasure of watching them.
@phonelady61 Then look online for the director's cut, I really appreaciate it. Once it was even linked to the wikipedia entry, but the website doesn't exist anymore. I got it easily downloaded even without searching One-click-hosters or a torrents - the file must still be somewhere if it was posted once. (I own the DVD though, this is why the movie industry s%cks sometimes really bad)
@hpreciado2805 Yes I saw him in Into the West and The Missing. (love them both!) but what is Skins? I heard of it before, but isn't it a BBC show? or am I way off? lol
@xloveXghoulx Rudy in Skins; Sitting Bull in Into the West; a lead in Follow the River. Stars in Blackstone right now in Canada. He's outstanding in Skins.
No touching, kissing, sexing... still, the best love story ever captured on film.
Those are the most touching ones!!!!!!
I would agree
it's just a movie people, not real history!
"sexing"
Kek
Ted Smith incorrect
Every woman should have a man look at her the way Uncas looked at Alice.
YEEEEESSS
Just not fat chicks 😜
I so wished the film had developed their relationship more. The moment when he holds her beneath the waterfall is just so beautiful. What I wouldn't give to hold a woman like that.
Unfortunately the movie director deleted their Kiss scene in the waterfall. It was a mistake. Alice & Uncas was more interesting than Cora & Nathaniel
Uncas chased after his love, fought and died for her. All of us men can go home and stop trying to prove our love to our women, Uncas is the GOAT
This song gives me full body chills every time! I love their facial expressions... leaving everlasting impressions. I find myself in tears, completely with her in this. In the script, Alice and Uncas made love after he pulled her away from the falls.
However, the actress was underage so they had to not go that route.
spiralrose I would like to read that script. I heard that her mother was against that part. If I had been that girl I'd told my mother to back off. I'd ask her : don't you have to do something in the kitchen ;) ;) ;)
Still an amazing scene even or especially without that.
Eric Schweig said it was actually filmed but Michael Mann chose to leave it out.
I think they chose right not tragedy should have a sex scene to show firey love. Glad the mom put her foot down.
Melanie Hayward as much as we would love to see it, I think it was the right decision. Just the fact that their love was so strong even though they didn’t have much dialogue, just showed how powerful their connection.

Proof positive that actions speak louder than words.
Why didn't he just wait? 😭😭😭
to me this was the meaning of true love... sacrifice everything, fight for her heart and fall together in the stillness of their hearts... and eternity ... you will never be apart...

There is true beauty in the ultimate sacrifice!
When I was young I saw it from the perspective of a brother, my heart was broken, Now I see it as a father my blood boils...
I saw it as a teenager, a young woman's eyes and experience, now I see it as older woman that can understand that haunted look in her eyes and can relate. Also as a mother I feel that rage at his death.
Platonic? This was one of my all time favorite love stories, tender and yearnful and starcrossed and very passionate! Great video, though.
This was one of the best parts of the movie. I always wanted them to expand on these two.
Uncas should have waited for his dad.

I love how there are so many fans of this couple and yet they have maybe 2 interactions before he dies, never really ever sharing any scenes
Because their scenes was deleted in the movie

Does anyone know any other movies that the actor who plays Uncas is in?
I love this movie. So sad though. :`(
Best movie ever!!!!
lloré.... cry..... está es la mejor parte de la peli.......
shivers me this song deeply..but such scene is the most romantic ever...i detest sex in movies or shows..not romantic at all..contrary
Jope porque terminan matando al chico 😢 e visto. Alguna más y en todas los matan 😮 no puede terminar. Que se van. A vivir su vida ..caray con todo lo que pasan. A pudiera ser que es indio ? Bueno. Jope que pedazo de tristeza el final .😢
Eterno Uncas 💖 💖 Hes the most beautiful delightful delicious sexiest gorgeous man on earth
In the next life I am going to make him mine ❤️🤭
No, you are a magwa person
does conner from AC3 remind anyone else of uncas? like just in how he looks?
It wasn't remotely platonic lmao.
Good vid though.
@Kaikangirl
Lol me too! I wish he would've waited... damn. Gets me everytime. =,(
Mi hija dice que con las pelis chinas ocurre lo mismo . Que sádico todo
Still a better love story than the titanic
last real clear love....
For those who don't know this part was filmed in chimney Rock North Carolina, not far from where I'm from
2:30 is where Magua realized he fucked up.
The music i love

EPIC scene from an epic movie. Just one of the best. Btw, anyone else think Awolnation stole the foundation for their song "Sail" from this song?
When i was a kid i fell in love with her because the look she gave right before she jumped. So woefully sad but loving at the same time.
Me too. She was gorgeous, especially in those final moments.
@xloveXghoulx yes eric schweig played the bad medicine man brujo in the movie the missing . he did an excellent job at that as well too . But to me he will always be uncas .
would have loved to see Uncas and Alice ge together. How about one for the masses?
@8MagicalDreamcatcher where did you get the background music? I would like to download it. What is the title of the background music? BTW, nice video. I always love Uncas and Alice. Their love is far more intense than Cora and Nathaniel. It's true love.
How did Magua kill Uncas? Where did Magua stabbed him?
He cut his throat. You can see the blood on Uncas face.
there are some many loves like this in the would ....... just who find this music knhows ,,,like my self included .....

It's called promentory. It's from the soundtrack to this movie, "the last of the mohicans" :)
This looks like the Carolinas - is it? My daughter went to a summer camp near Asheville and it was stunningly beautiful. Greystone.
you are correct the film was filmed around the French Broad River a lot of the Asheville locals played as Extras in the Film.

If I was her, I would take his hand.
He was going to kill her anyway
@xloveXghoulx He is in Windtalkers with Nicholas Cage. It is also a good movie.
