Lol now that you have somehow reached Navrang, 'Aadha Hai Chandrama' absolutely needs to be reacted to. Something tells me you guys will really enjoy someone dancing with many pots on their head :)) Happy Holi everyone!
One person doing both male and female characters like this while dancing ( different costume and makeup at front and back) is a really old INDIAN FOLK DANCE called "JHAO" and it is damn difficult because traditionally while doing it your face is fully covered with an over the top mask with very little holes for eyes to see through which allows just front view barely and not side views or up and down. So you are not able to exactly know till where exactly the stage is and you would need a really good balance and prior knowledge of length and width of the stage or of the place where u perform. Also the costume is very heavy and very tightly tucked to your body as you have to do very quick and sudden dance moves so the costume must remain in place throughout. On whole the costume is very difficult and sometimes suffocating to carry if performance goes on for too long. Plus you have to maintain both male and female expressions and actions throughout. In short THIS INDIAN FOLK DANCE IS DAMN DIFFICULT TO PULL OFF.
Thank you Sapna for the additional knowledge. This is a very tough dance form, I still remember I was in 14years old when I did this solo performance in a dance competition at my school. It took me days to get the postures correct. Hats off to the creative minds of our Indian cultural.

Surely I will get some fire for saying this, but I do not think Sandhya was one of the best dancers. She had the energy for sure, but to me her dance movements appear clumsy, abrupt and extraneous instead of fluid, continuous and harmonious. Her expressions (again in my view) also did not seem to match the songs. She almost always had a little scared, bewildered, surprised look on her face even in romantic songs. If she did not have V Shantaram's support, I am not sure she would have made many movies (I remember only one which was not directed by V Shantaram). I know many think differently, as she is popular among her fans.
@@Music-ge8gk Disagree… Despite not having formal training, she underwent intensive classical training under Gopi Krishna which resulted in a movie that won audiences and awards (Filmfare and National film awards)… Her dancing matched with the songs given to her, plus she was given difficult choreographies like this one or Aadha hai Chandrama or her laavani dances in Pinjra… Most people don’t understand that Lavani isn’t supposed to be smooth and fluid, it has jerky, provocative and abrupt movements, to which Sandhya ji did justice…

During the earlier movie he met with an accident in which he almost lost his eye sight. For a few days he was not able to see. Hare krishna and happy holi to all of you
Sandhya (heroine) was a marvellous dancer... Happy holi to both of u n ur family
Lovely puppet motif imbued in dance form. That's Indian classical dance at it's best.
" If that doesn't encapsulate the spirit of Holi, nothing does'. That says it all. Brilliant Rick!
V Shantaram lost his eyesight for some time after he met with an accident during making of “Do ankhe bara hath” . He visualize this movie Navrang during that time. Movie is full of beautiful songs .
Sandhya was a great dancet/artist. She was playing both character and there was no big costume change . If you watch the male dancer you will realize that it’s Her back side and a face on back of her head. Amazing performance that is every dancers dream.
begining of that song means rap was invented in india long time ago 🤣
That's actually a classical Kathak song. We have these kind of raps in all Indian classical dances.
Happii holi....Love & respect from India...
Happy Holi every one
I am so happy you reacted to this classic Holi song, as a kid I had danced to this song in my school, this song always brings back those nostalgic happy memories 😊
You should include this film Navrang in your list of classic films to be watched, it means "Nine colours" and it is about a poet and his muse
The songs and dances in this are unbelievably creative, must watch
V Shantaram producer and director of this film was a legend

That actress was Sandhya ji . She was a great great energetic dancer.
She was the wife of legendary Mr. V. Shantaram who produced and directed many films.
He always gave chance to new actors in those days.
And most important No Holi song has ever matched this song ever in Indian cinema.
Bestest Holi song ever 😍 they always used to show this song on DD national's Rangoli
This is 1959 omg 😱 the superb ever performance 🎭 🎉🎉🎉
Her double getup was so famous. Whenever any kid or adlut used to dance in competition or function they use to dress up this special double get up. I also remember such double getup dresses of Navrang use to get on rent for performers, kids and adults
This is what childhood to me was on every Holi. I always woke up to this song.
