I used to use this build 2 wipes ago when Barbs were running the meta on ruins. Only difference is that warlock didn't have plate yet. Staff is severely underrated on warlock. Lifedrain heals so much, spells hit harder, best BoC statstick too.
Yea before they nerfed the scaling to both BoC and Dark Reflection this build was crazy during season 1. If you landed just 1 curse your enemy was pretty much guaranteed dead between BoC and Dark Reflect
@@JarPapa the problem with Ray is I'm pretty sure it's better with super low knowledge, which makes casting any other spells counter productive 😞 ray def needs some love, it should 100% tick faster while not having the duration reduced once it's casted or *something*
@@zeplore8491 I know! I’ve tried to make this awkward high Will low Knowledge build to make it work and it feels too clunky to get going. Honestly I wouldn’t have an issue with the duration being less if it ticked more often like you suggest, it should work like magic missile!
What would you change about this build if you were playing trios? How good is the staff for PVE, or would you rather just bring a halberd or a longsword?
@@corbinnihoniho4277 crystal sword damage does not apply to any spells cast or to Dark Reflection. The magic damage on the staff does apply to both. (Spell damage + staff damage) THEN it gets multiplied by your magic power bonus. Crystal Sword is nice for a no spell BoC/Phantom build but if you're using spells (which I prefer) I'd say stay away from the CS
Dont go over 124 gear score because you will get uber chads geared to the teeth just remember any green potion bandys and surgical kits will ad gear score but im sure you will do great its deffently a learning curve but just expieremt and have fun with it 😊😊😊
@@arrowfaster2068 in order to make this work you need common level cloth and leather starter gear, and buy a owl pendant for the one extra knowledge. But I run this with wizard hat, leather chaises, Oracle robe, cultist boots and rawhide gloves. It isn’t a very strong under 25 build because you need those magic power stacks, but it does work.
Hey Zep, I’m getting absolutely wrecked by Bards, the reach on the staff is a bit short and slow to hit vs bards with a rapier just absolutely thrashing me. How do you approach fighting bards?
@@TJ-bx7tk curse then and dodge survival bow shots do NOT get hit with shriek of weakness (the flute song) he will kill you much easier. Your curse range is a bit longer than his shriek range. If you are losing a trade shut a door behind you, Hydra the door and life drain. He cant crouch jump over the Hydra if your hotbox is directly after the Hydra and might get "stuck" right in front of you if he isn't lucky enough to bounce back. Always go for poke then BoC after 2 curses I'd say if you have 5 stacks of collector your Dark Reflect should finish them off most bards don't have more than 10%mr they are very weak to magic nothing they build really gives MR
can someone help me. im using this build and so far i love it and its very very strong. im winning duels a lot but mostly because i have time to proc my spells and im in control. the problem im having is when another player and myself catch each other off guard and now we are point blank and its time to fight out of nowhere. i dont know how to deal with this as a warlock. they are just gonna start spamming their melee and kill me before i have time to get any spells off. what should i do differently?

I just used it and got a kill and yeah placing it before luring the person to you is a must! cause the dude went zooming to me b4 I put it on the ground and I got fucked and I also didn't have the shards already

Any animation having to do with the cast that takes time that isn't related to the cast bar on the bottom of the screen when channeling a spell is affected by action speed. The staff has a bit of time of it "flicking" forward when casting a spell after the cast bar is full. Yes action speed is a great stat to have on any caster whether it's book , cball, or staff, it's just that knowledge is almost always better.
Meanwhile fighter (a "melee class") is often classified as the better ranger (a "ranged class"). Trust me it's all out of wack I'm just here to make the best of what it is 😂
