The little black rubber I picked out? They are supposed to stay in, but mine degraded. They can be difficult to replace the keyboard if the rubber is in there. I took them out. The keyboard screws in anyway, so not a big deal for me.
Yes it is. Other ThinkPad models allow replacement of keyboard and battery much easier. I am preparing to replace the keyboard on a ThinkPad Yoga Gen 1. Wow, the instructions indicate that I have to take most of the laptop apart. Should be interesting.
If I have two batteries, the external and the internal, before I replace the keyboard, I have to disconnect both batteries? Or just the external?
Remove the external battery. Then disable the internal battery via bios.
thx you ver much
You are welcome.

Do you have to leave that black rubber piece on the inside?

One of the worst keyboards in the world. Feels good but to remover sucks
It does feel a bit looser than the factory installed keyboard. But for the price and user needs, good enough.
