I really appreciated this video that offers a women's perspective (I'm a woman). Your wife's attitude towards your hobby during this videos reminds of Beauty guru's videos with their boyfriends. EXCEPT she is actually more knowledgable of fragrances as opposed to makeup for boyfriends. But the exasperation of the expense, not telling the difference between wearing high or low end brands, and sometimes blank stare as you drone on in detail... yeah goes both ways. XD
Those who call you whipped just don't realize the double standard they placed on you just because your wife is not as into your fragrance hobby as you are!
I tried *one* spray of Aventus on my arm yesterday (first ever time) at about 1pm. Approximately 24 hours later I can still smell it on me. It does perform well and it does smell nice but I just don't think it's for me...at least not for that price. It smells like whatever fragrance my dad wore when I was a little kid. I haven't seen my dad for over 10 years so I can't just ask what he wore back then but it seriously reminds me of him, which is strange because Aventus didn't exist back then...
I'm new to fragrances but I can understand the hype though. It's a very nice scent - very outdoorsy, almost 'sporty' in a way although most people don't describe it as such.

Great top10 faves by your fiancee. I can definitely see a theme that runs through everyone one of them, not surprised to see a few CREEDs in the miX as well. I think you should get her to do a winter list to kind of find out which spicy denser frags she's into.
I assume she also (my girl too) gets headaches from frags. Very interesting to hear opinions from people who aren't obsessed as we are.

That's what bergamote 22 smells like!!I couldn't put my finger on it until you mentioned your number nine fragrance.I had that one a few years ago so when I got my bergamote 22 I knew it smelled familiar to something I had before.
I have 50+ bottles at my disposal. Aventus and Bleu are the best. I still have my favorites but those two I see in a lot of top 10 lists. I spray my clothes with Bleu! Maddening I know but it smells so much better and last longer as opposed to spraying it on my skin. Obviously I do a few sprays on pulse points but it's an amazing scent.
Nautica Voyage always reminds me of the Ocean it's fresh, salty, and has an ocean smell to it.
Yeah, too right! that's also my problem with it though; it's an awesome holiday fragrance. But I wouldn't really like to wear it on a daily basis!
Originally I didn't like the Gucci one because it reminded me of one of my grand fathers colognes but liked it when it started smelling like lavender, and got a compliment as soon as I put it on
Gucci Black is actually very good. I was surprised . I had a friend at work that used to wear it. Very good review
Steven, interesting how women, once again, prefer clean, lemony or aquatics designers. Has nothing to do with age too. I am in my 40s, over 200 bottles (designers), and Perry Ellis 360 red is my most complemented scent....a cheap, long lasting and projecting, also improved (IMO), Aqua DiGio. Congrats on your engagement, noticed she's Cuban....I'm Puerto Rican, borned and raised, but there is always the Latino connection between us. Cheers!!!

I was going through a ton of your videos and came across this one and was wondering, now that you’re married has your wife’s list changed at all? I believe you wore Aventus on your wedding day, right? Has that bumped Nautica to the number 2 slot because she associates Aventus with such a wonderful moment/experience? Redolessence I got my first cologne, Nautica Voyage, after randomly smelling it at Ulta and I thought it was the only good smelling one there haha. I've heard great things about it and I really like it too.
seems the ladies enjoy the fresh scents, i know mymicker's did amanda's list and she chose mostly citrus too. btw just bought dior homme and am in love with the smell. gonna be my new signature
Nautica Voyage, my wife loves it too! What a gem, it just goes to show that spending more doesn't necessarily mean your getting a better smelling fragrance.

I started to buy perfumes without any sense to recently realize that I don't have a good perfume for dating or going to the office. Its winter in Buenos Aires, and I bougth a lot of perfumes for summer! This list could help begginers like me to choose the next purchases more carefully.
I was thinking that it will be good to do a balanced list of 10/15 fragances to cover most of the ocassions that we want to use a perfume. A list that includes a perfume to a romantic date, another for winter, one for wearing everyday, etc... Its better defined as a selection than as a ranking per se. I think that in your case you will include Nautica Voyage as the first fragance because it's the one that your fiancee likes and being with the person we love counts as an occasion! Surely the list will exclude a lot of perfumes that you love with the objective of including ones that make the list more balanced. The list could also include one or two fragances that you consider that you might have because they are a classic, or you consider that you cant exclude them out of the list despite there is no specific ocassion to where them. For instance, I would include at least one fragance of Therry Mugler.
Maybe you can state that list already exists, I think that the top 10 of compliment fragances includes a wide variety of fragances to wear in most of the ocassions I mentioned.
By the way, Have you tried Acqua di Gio Profumo? (black bottle)

I smelt an oldie called Escape Calvin Klein recently and thought it knocked the socks off of some new ones! Plus so many fragrances smell so alike

Love the videos man, I'd like to see like a top 5 or 10 or what she doesn't like on you, it would be interesting to say the least....I tested oud 27 at work, huge mistake...but 2 of the older ladys loved it and baked me some cookies the next day....I hate oud 27, but love cookies so I may get another sample..based on those fantastic white chocolate macadamia nut cookies I got lol

Great vid guys! Aventus is the real deal that's for sure! So many times the same thing has happened to me with Aventus. 7 hours in can't really detect it due to nasal fatigue and bam compliment after compliment! Great from start to finish!

What's really interesting is that most of these fragrances are designer. It seems niche really is an acquired taste mostly, non-fragrance-junkies like the designer stuff. Creed seems like the only exception.

Why do most people hate Allure Homme Edition Blanche? I liked it and bought at duty free. I started watching reviews back home. I was disappointed, when I found out, most people strongly dislike the scent which I selected among many fragrances
I know Gucci Guilty was in there but.... Come on..... Gucci Envy is heads and rows above! I just remember smelling a few of these in your top 10 once when I had time to kill waiting for my flight and Gucci Envy.. (when you could still buy it) was amazing! and still is! I still have about half left.

I own 6 of the 10 fragrances you listed. Nice picks... MI, VPH and Bleu are actually my "go to" signature scents.
Versace pour homme, my all time favorite. I still need to get me a second bottle as well as burberry touch. Great after shower scents.
OpoSai I think she likes Versace Pour Homme more than she thinks she does. A year ago, it was her number 1. =)
I can't believe no one has taken the Nautica Voyage and made a stronger, more lasting version of it. It was one of my first colognes when I was in college and I could only afford stuff like that. I used to drop like 8 sprays every day because it wouldnt last.
Great review, Steven. I really like Jenn's picks as I love them all myself except the Ed Hardy. Not a fan. I like it when you, Dan and Dave have your better halves give their opinions. Its nice to have a female perspective.
I tried or own most of these, except Love & Luck and AH Edition Blanche, decent selection for this list. "Always look up the perfumer" is a definitely great advice especially for people who just begin collecting.

Sometimes the things that we don't give much attention are what they like more, and those expensive niche fragrances that we buy and we love more, they usually don't like. Go figure!
In the end we do what we do to please them too.

Aventus is a great scent, very hard to find now and really really expensive when you do.
My girlfriend likes the classics like Boss bottled, Aqua Di Gio, Caroline Herrera H20, Viktor and Rolf Antidote and one that I just found which is Escada Moon Sparkle

I have over 40 fragrances from all top designers and my wife's favorite is voyage also.. weird yeah but the drydown is pretty good and lasts almost 24 hrs
My 12 year old don't like Nautica Voyage.She says it smells like celery.So I got rid of the bottle.But I personally I like it think it's ok.

Am I the only person in this planet that thinks Mugler's A*men is the most magical men's fragrance ever created? I just cannot seem to find anything like it, it morphs and transforms into heaven on your body, the dry-down is the stuff of legends.
I can't be alone can I? I've tried almost all of the fragrances mentioned here and aside from Aventus, they are all just ok to me.

Gucci Guilty is so "blah." Nautica Voyage is literally one of the most amazing scents I own and it is so cheap. I have things like Allure Home Sport, Blue de Chanel, Aventus and I still think Voyage is like top 3 in my collection. love it. nothing smells like it, but I do want to smell mandarino di amalfi for sure.

what is interesting to notice is that the girls like as much the frangrance can be synthetic much them like of the smell, mens like something a little bit more natural smells.

Have you smelled Uomo Moschino? If so can you recommend scents that are similar? I love that fragrance. Been wearing it 14 years, it's my signature number 1 compliment getter but it's hard to fine and has been reformulated.

Hi Steven. I cant find this info anywhere so I hope you can answer this...certain fragrances have leather in them; is the scent actually coming from leather or is it synthetic? How is it extracted? Thank you so much.
How can you leave out Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit De L'homme? Also, it would be helpful if you disclosed the price of each (per ounce or European equiv). For example, Creed is $300+ per bottle...ouch!
