    Maserà di Padova • Maserà di Padova (PD) • Diocese of Padua • Vicariate of Maserà di Padova.
    Description of the church:
    Maserà di Padova is a small town located in the province of Padua, has very ancient origins, as the name can think of the verb "maceria" due to the raids of the Lombards in 568. The town already existed in 874, we are aware of it thanks to a notarial deed, in which the bishop Rorio donated to the Benedictine monastery of the Basilica Abbey of Santa Giustina a chapel dedicated to San Martino Confessore in a territory named "Maserada".
    In 970, the bishop Gauslino reconfirmed the donation of the ancient possessions, including a chapel entitled to Santa Maria, with the goods attached: it was a new church, built in the meantime, that would become the parish of Maserà, while the previous San Martino is today Ronchi di Casalserugo. The parish became head of a new vicariate that included Casalserugo, Ronchi, Ca' Murà, Cornegliana, Polverara, Carpanedo, Albignasego, Lion, and San Giorgio "delle chiusure".
    Under the leadership of the Benedictine monks there was a flourishing period of excellent preservation of historical/artistic assets of the time. In the fifteenth century, with the arrival of the new abbot, Ludovico Barbo, there was a further push towards the reclamation of buildings and swampy land, the fund of Maserà was divided into eighteen possessions entrusted to as many settlers; in the Court, consisting of a house in masonry with attached stables, granaries, cellars and fenced gardens, as well as an oratory dedicated to Santa Giustina, there resided permanently a monk-rector and a monk-clerk.
    The village suffered a lot from the league of Cambrai in 1513 and after that the parish church, not exempt from thefts, remained in a state of neglect as reported by pastoral visits following the event.
    After the demolition and restoration work began and the new church was consecrated on 8 September 1496 (day of Nativity o Our Lady) and was dedicated to Santa Maria.
    With the establishment of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, there was a new period of prosperity, but after the advent of Napoleon, many of the Benedictine possessions were suppressed and confiscated.
    With the arrival of the French and the suppression of religious entities by Napoleon, the Court and all its parts became part of the public domain: first of the Kingdom of Italy and then of Lombardy-Veneto. A large part of the ancient Benedictine possessions together with the buildings of the Court became the property of Antonio Faccanoni and later of the brothers from Zara, who introduced the cultivation of beet turning decidedly the type of cultivation from "subsistence culture" to "market culture" and thus starving the population, which reacted by creating a kind of agricultural union.
    After the two world wars, when the country was partially spared by bombing, There was a new period of prosperity that led to an increase in population which led to the deconsecration of the parish church and the construction of a new larger church to accommodate more faithful, also dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The old church has been recently restored due to the collapse of two thirds of the roof in 1992.
    Description of the bell tower:
    Next to the ancient Pieve there is a small bell tower in which there are 5 bells in G♭:
    I: G♭, cast by the Pontifical Foundry Colbachini of Padua in 1980;
    II: A♭, cast by the Pontifical Foundry Colbachini of Padua in 1980;
    III: B♭, cast by the Pontifical Foundry Colbachini of Padua in 1980;
    IV: C, cast by the Pontifical Foundry Colbachini of Padua in 1980;
    V: D♭, cast by the Foundry Grassmayr of Innsbruck in 2014.

      La nota l'avevo messa per deduzione siccome mi pare strano che queste campane suonino le melodie con Si♭³ e Si³ anziché Do⁴ senza scala diatonica perfetta.
