Although I am a Grizzlies fan and have admired Ja Morant talent, I believe the Grizzlies should have taken a harder line with him when the first two incidents happened as you could seen than the train wreck that was about to happen. He needs help and to take responsibility for the choices he has made. @@tommyl3707 I don't agree it's not as simple as that. There are many good things about the Grizzlies organization and their culture, however there are also areas they need to strengthen particularly when you have a young team, they are trying to find a balance between letting them be confident and free in their play but there is a fine line with that when you have alot of young players still maturing.
A lot of issues need to be addressed 1 big one being NCAA players getting paid too much money and Ja is giving reasons not to give them more money.. it’s bigger than basketball

Perk speaking facts when he's talking about the Grizzlies team as a whole and their childish character but especially what he said about the African American community.
The only way Ja will survive this is for him to disassociate himself from the bad company that he is keeping. That’s going to be difficult for him. I don’t think that he can or will. Street loyalty to your “boys” is strong. My fear is he’s in too deep.
Why are we keep saying that it's his "bad company" is the source of this? Many people grow up in bad neighborhoods or had not so great friends with positive influence but grow up fine. Better yet, this dude has the bank to set him apart if needed with the money he's got or get some smart, mature people with brains to surround himself with if he really can't think and make decisions on his own. Blame is 100% on him. Not on his friends and not on his "mental health issues".

Lord i really hope this lead to a change in the community. Even if he WERE from that type of place, thats not how you embrace it. You embrace it by setting a good example and showing them you can rise from nothing and turn that nothing into something
People don't realize these are Ja decisions. These aren't happening by accident. He wants it to. He wasn't forced to go to the strip club. He wasn't forced to fight the 17 year old. He wanted to. Everyone saying he needs to change and he will lose millions or where is his father don't understand. Just because he has millions and a great job doesn't control what he wants to do. Stephen Jackson is a multi million dollar man, yet he CHECKS IN into hoods just to show people he in the hood
The NBA needs to suspend Ja Morant for the remainder of the season without pay ... He's got to be taught a hard lesson. I'm sure his endorsements will need to pull out and disengage from him , because from a branding standpoint, it won't help their products be associated with Ja Morant.
They might do it bc it IS actually league policy and Ja brought that gun on a TEAM plane. They suspended Gilbert Arenas for the same thing for the remainder of the season. We’re gonna have to wait and see what happens.
Nba ain’t stupid either…. They would lose on the backend of it…… one of the two happens he pays a hefty hefty fine or couple game suspension with a fine
This situation with Ja Morant is a wake up call for ALL young professional athletes to learn how to behave and carry themselves like a better person, regardless where they grew up and how they used to live their lives before becoming a professional athlete. It is a NEW life for each of them! A new life for each of them, a new life for their family, their parents and siblings, as well as their associates. They ALL have to evolve into better people who can help protect the ASSET, like Stephen A said, because those are potentially billions of dollars business. Hope this will turn into a GOOD thing regardless of what comes out of Ja Morant’s future with the NBA.
Liabilities cannot protect the assets, simply because they are liabilities. Get rid of your homeboys. Talk about when keeping it real goes wrong. Eighteen-year-olds serve in military war zones and make life and death decisions each day. He's old enough to go to jail, serve in the military and know right from wrong. Having all that money is exactly why he shouldn't be in this situation. Stop making excuses for Ja and make him accountable for his actions, asides a statement, if he wants to return.
Wow... Perk made sense and is not afraid to call out the cultural message being sent to the youths of America. You don't need to act a certain way to fit in.

@@themack74 lmfao Ja is dumb. That's why he has a PR to say things for him. Coz like what others on this thread said, if he really was that intelligent, he won't be even in this shtty situation to begin with lol
ESPN also gives him a pass. Shame on you Stephen A for disrespecting any truly suffering person with mental illness as an excuse for his illegal behavior. I had good black brother's in the Army & they would never do this nonsense.
Where was this energy and protection for kyrie 🤣🤣 they love to pick and choose
Ja and entire Grizzlies team need to have a fireside chat with Uncle Shannon.
can't believe how soft Stephen A's take was. He comes down harder when players smoke weed for crying out loud.
He comes down harder on people that are white.
hes treading lightly as to not offend the wrong one
He's scared of Ja's goons 😂
Thats tru, i am surprised..
Because that’s what disappointment sounds like

Although I am a Grizzlies fan and have admired Ja Morant talent, I believe the Grizzlies should have taken a harder line with him when the first two incidents happened as you could seen than the train wreck that was about to happen. He needs help and to take responsibility for the choices he has made. He needs better mentorship to grow into the leader he needs to be and a better support system around him, that means if his friends or family are not in the same boat they need to get off, I hope he gets it together so he is able to continue to share his talent with the world.
That’s because the whole grizzlies team and coach has issues
The issue with pacers should have gotten him out the league.
@@judithhapi687 we all seen the train wreck coming so don’t act like we didn’t see them just play with this young man’s life for a narrative
A lot of issues need to be addressed 1 big one being NCAA players getting paid too much money and Ja is giving reasons not to give them more money.. it’s bigger than basketball
SAS should be proud of the progress he's made, in regards to being knowledge and understanding about mental health. He's been burned a bunch in that area and he's clearly tried to grow. Props to you man
Not that im for this, but you'd think Nike would remove Ja from their endorsements like they did Kyrie since Ja did something way worse than posting a link to a subjectively hateful movie, right?
let’s be real, the contract situation with nike (he would’ve been a shoe FA in a couple of months anyway) and the fact that he criticized the work on his last shoes made it easy for nike to get rid of him. i don’t think they’ll drop him
I'm not throwing hate on Ja but I think Kyrie being treated wrongly once it come to the media n this league
@@crisomii Whether Kyrie criticized them or not, that wasnt the reason they let go of him & replaced him wif Ja. It was cause of a post that was so supposedly so harmful that Nike couldnt bare to have someone that would post such a hateful thing represent them. Well, do they represent shirtless athletes thuggin it out wif a gun at a nightclub? If not i would expect them to drop Ja. Just basing this assumptions according to what their standards are suppose to be
I don't think they would but if they did everyone would say that they are racist.
This aint got nothing to do with Kyrie.
Perk made a great point.
Mental health is a cop out for real, that’s just stupidity and youthfulness. Ja needs to grow up and cut those idiots around him.
Someone had to say it
@@chrismendez3415 indeed, the media can be funny at times
Honestly perk and SA had great takes 💯
Wilbon said it perfectly. The problem is the culture. In no other culture is being gangster so sensationalized.
Never get ahead with that mentality.
I disagree. Blaming the people he hangs around kinda absolves him of accountability. Nobody put a gun to his head and made him do this.
Good JA has friends who make him look like idiot
Why are we keep saying that it's his "bad company" is the source of this? Many people grow up in bad neighborhoods or had not so great friends with positive influence but grow up fine. Better yet, this dude has the bank to set him apart if needed with the money he's got or get some smart, mature people with brains to surround himself with if he really can't think and make decisions on his own. Blame is 100% on him. Not on his friends and not on his "mental health issues".
If anything, it is Ja who wanted and formed that company he has now. He has the money and he is the boss. Not even his father can control him.

So because of Ja and a handful of other players, young black kids aren't going to get the same opportunities in the NBA. Weed also apparently makes you do criminal things. This is classic ignorant comments, instead of keeping it with this one person and how they messed up.
It’s crazy how they gave him credit for a statement he didn’t write but demonized Kyrie after offering an apology in person.

Kyrie deleted that "apology" post as soon as he got traded to the Mavs.
I like how Stephen A summed up this situation. Ja needs to listen
I am very surprised they didn't scrutinize him. I am very glad they touched on mental health because people act out in many ways for help, Ja may not have anyone in his circle he can talk to or trust.
Then he simply doesn't have a good support system around him and that is 100% on him

“Who are you doin it for?”
Never thought id hear something insanely insightful from perk👏
From Cleveland Ohio here, Akron, lebrons hometown….I’ll give the man credit that he did his best from what I know to not fall into that lifestyle. Lebron aspired to be more than another statistic in the hood. And he succeeded. These young bloods are so soft they gotta act hard.
Thanks Ja... folks already thing we areball thugs. You are giving them EXACTLY what they want. Private school kid acting like a tuff guy is the DUMBEST thing I've heard.
And I went to private school with some rough dudes. But we all went the OPPOSITE direction AWAY from the streets. Not diving head long into "that life". So I gotta disagree with Perk... That's just stoopit... SMH
Listen to Perk again.
@Bee Ojeiks he was saying that folks that haven't been a pro athlete can't call the actions stupid. And I disagree. It doesn't matter that you aren't making millions. It's the same as if you come from East Oakland mot having much but now u make $250K. Smaller money. Same idea. It's dumb to go from the league to the hood. That's moving in the wrong direction. 😕
@Cities talk yeah... me!!! But when u there u ain't gotta worry about that life. And u can use that opportunity to escape it. So why TRY and be a tuff guy whe u aren't.
In my opinion, as a big fan of Ja, i think NBA gave him the minimum of minimum of a penalty for this action. He is lucky noone can prove the incident with Pacers

Agreed
The NBA needs to suspend Ja Morant for the remainder of the season without pay ... He's got to be taught a hard lesson. I'm sure his endorsements will need to pull out and disengage from him , because from a branding standpoint, it won't help their products be associated with Ja Morant.
Are you a fan of gun rights or are you against gun rights?
Definitely agree. He’s going to end up getting himself hurt if he keeps this stupid dumb behavior up.
Suspended for the rest of the season without pay? Draymond assaulted his own teamate and was right back on the court. Ja's just being stupid.
"You went to Cranbrook, that's a private school. What's the matter, dawg? You embarrassed?
This guy's a gangster? His real name's Clarence"
Wow... Perk made sense and is not afraid to call out the cultural message being sent to the youths of America. You don't need to act a certain way to fit in.
Yes but their channel promotes" the culture" , the NBA is in bed with hip hop , Ja is a byproduct of this.

If Grizzlies drop him then Raptors, Knicks, Celtics need to go after him with everything they've got.
Compassion and understanding he may need as well as maybe some help, but he continues to do stupid things. It doesn't matter if he's 20 or 23, he's a dad and that alone should make him want to do better.. With all the gun violence he sees going on around him he definitely needs to do better. Keeping him in 🙏🏾 hoping he gets the help he needs.. Dad needs to stop trying to be a friend and man up and Ja needs to surround himself with a more positive, supportive crowd of people
This is getting crazy. No one is going to mention that he's playing these types of games in Memphis? Memphis didn't give a dang about Dolph and won't care about Morant. I hope he does get the help he needs before he runs into someone in Memphis whose not trying play.
Speaking as someone from Memphis, he has no enemies here and we want him to succeed. And as far as Dolph, if u were from this city, everybody knows the person responsible was not a Memphian....
