ManCity lost the title in the game against Arsenal. Like Hayes said: "If you get a second chance in life make sure you don't need a third." Chelsea made damn sure they didn't need a third and I'm glad Hayes is coming to the USWNT on a high note.

Mayra Ramírez is unbelievably scary. And I say that in the best way possible.

Colombia could be seriously scary at the Olympics with Ramirez in the lineup (she was absent from the Gold Cup tournament).

Ramirez was excellent in the World Cup last summer too. Everyone talked about Linda Caicedo, and of course she is a wunder kid with a bright future, but from what I saw Colombia got as far as they got largely thanks to Ramirez. Her strength and work rate pulled that team ahead. Brilliant move by Chelsea to recruit her when Sam Kerr sustained a long term injury.

After watching this game I reaffirm my belief that if Chelsea had Mayra Ramirez in the Champions League semifinals in the second leg in London against Barcelona, Chelsea would have eliminated the Spanish team. In the first leg, Chelsea played a great game with her on the field and beat Barcelona tactically and strategically in all sectors of the field, nullifying and counteracting all their attacks. It would have been sensational if Emma would have closed her cycle with Chelsea by winning the final of the Champions League. Even so, it was great how they faced this last game against United, after a complex season they deserved the title. It will be very interesting next season in the Champions League, a Chelsea with Bompastor and a City with the ability and talent to beat Lyon or Barcelona, teams that in my opinion are "monopolizing" the European competition. It is necessary for the good of women's soccer that more top teams emerge to face them and be able to beat them and surpass them on the field.

Ramirez looked good in the second half of the second leg against Barca when they took Engen off and played Patri, a midfielder, at center back to put more attacking players on and recover the goal.
Mayra is very well known to Barca, she comes from Levante.

Thank you for covering the WSL! Huge Chelsea fan here, and I’m looking forward to following Emma Hayes in her new position with the USWNT. One of the things she has been amazing at is bringing new talent into the team and then nurturing players to get the best from them and make them into leaders. Across the league, you see her influence with amazing footballers leaving Chelsea to join other teams and elevate those teams. Hannah Blundell at Man United, Drew Spence and Beth England at Spurs with Beth becoming captain. I’m very excited to see what happens in the USA.

Hello Sam. Good summary. It is great to hear another perspective on the English league. I watch Spanish and German games as there are UK players there too, but tend to rely on you for US "soccer".
I think Manchester City have overperformed with a young squad this year. They bought the best young players available in January, rather than established players, to ensure they learn their style of play, so they seem to be the ones with a plan and I hope they get through Champions League qualifying to the group stages, having finished second.
Best wishes to Emma Hayes. I just hope she gets chance to sort the issues that were obviously affecting the US team and not get judged on expectations that they can win the Olympics. I do think she will give them a chance, but they have serious competition these days. I will still be shouting for the Commonwealth teams though.
Speaking of serious competition, the Spanish U17 beat England in the UEFA championship final today. Spain have been at this level for some time in junior international football, but England are obviously improving. That Euro senior win has definitely started something. From this, I had a different song in my head than the "We are the Champions" the Spanish were singing in pretty good English.

I don't know which has been more frustrating, City's gentle probing constantly for 2 games. Or the inability of anyone else in the league to stop Chelsea scoring whatever they want. 😂

What about covering some other womens leagues around the world? Maybe mexico, tigres are doing great things. And no mention of Barcelona or Lyon who also won their leagues today!?!? For once a podcast that would cover all of the women's leagues and national teams to bond the continents would be wonderful. Its been great to hear about players before wwc or Olympics so we are not shocked during their game. Learning about Nigeria and Ireland and Chile allowed me to cherish more teams and players. And you have a great personality and an in on the womens soccer scene that other fan bloggers don't have. Keep going.

Congrulation to Chelsea! having say that! Bristol City lost by 8 shouldn't happen in professsional football! it will be similar in US for a football lost by a score of 80-0 or basketball score of 100-23! it is ridiculous!

    • @Artome001

Beatdowns like that do happen in the EPL as well. Rare, but they do happen at the highest professional levels of sports.

    • @mracer8
      @mracer8 22 дня назад +1

@@Artome001 Things happen, but this is actually not a good look for the future! every top team will now keep the throttle full till the end of the game just to get as much goal as possible! you never know at the end of the season! so no sub for the backup to get experience! no pity for other team when you are 3-0 half time! I predict a lot of 10+ goal when a game happen between top team and a lesser(which happen a lot) because league is far from even!! Personally I think they need a rethink how to determine title! maybe a title game between last 2 standing!!

Chelsea suffer because they carry the load literally imagine if they were not in Europe they would destroy the league to make it worse after 60mins vs United she took off Ramirez and Kaneryd😂...
Man City women in any other year would win hands down they just did not put enough distance between them and the Blues because Chelsea women are like a snake you have to make sure it's dead and City got bit...
