Rook is a vanilla protagonist. Half of the party members are lame and not interesting. Switching from 4 party members to 3 during combat was a stupid change. And what happened to your past party member is unforgivable. Veilguard deserves all the hate it gets!

Now that I have played this game for 8 hrs, I have actually started to like it. I skipped all the cutscenes and dialogues, and the graphics and combat is actually great.
This is cool an all . Not far in . But I'm not seeing a lot of emphasis on the darkspawn or a warden. May change but so far it's feeling a Lil less like d.a. an more like a really cool mage game . I'll finish and give a better take on it. It's seeming awesome tho no doubt.
It’s a shame that the writing is so atrocious. Also, the Hud is so invasive to me. The environmental design and the structures and trees and all look incredible though. And the combat looks pretty fluid as well. Sad… R.I.P. Byeoware.
If this wins game of the year it will be an absolute travesty. When it goes on sale I do plan on buying it myself, but let’s not pretend this game is not full of issues. I’ll admit that the combat looks fun and the graphics art style aside, are incredibly polished. But the writing, the one note characters, the forced pandering in immersion breaking ways, the lack of exploration are all severe negatives. My personal GOTY is still FF7 Remake (yeah I know that’s just as divisive), but you also had black myth wukong, metaphor, persona 3 and stellar blade. This year really hasn’t had many tentpole releases off the top of my head, but if this wins it would only be for the “inclusion” at the expense of everything else. Game is a 7 at best.

@@doublemichael99 I’ll admit, I’m intrigued by Lego horizon. My son used to love watching the “robot dinosaurs” when he was 3. Now that he’s 5 and actually playing games sith me he may love it. I’m sure it will be fun but not game of the year. Horizon is cursed on that front. Thanks for being so cordial as well. It’s nice to have a friendly discussion for a change.
@@doublemichael99 I think it’s important to be fair with games, especially something as divisive as veilguard. I just think they made some… conceptual errors that hold the game back. Problem is, those errors are so big that it really turns off a lot of people. There was probably a true 10/10 game in here. I do think I’ll have fun with it once I finally play it. To keep this as apolitical as possible, I just wish more games would keep modern ideologies out of it-or at least write it with more subtlety.
I appreciate you condensing the entire playthrough into one video so that if I am ever stupid or drunk enough I can sit through this and experience just how bad it is on a grand scale rather than having to piece meal it.
Another thing that drives me crazy is the overdramatization in the voice acting. I understand that you want to build a career darling but its not going to happen in the next inconsequential to the plot line you are going to deliver!!!! The accents? Oh, lets not even start about the accents!

I-I can't anymore. I made it 1:32:05 and I just couldn't anymore. Look how they massacred my boy. The dark atmosphere of Dragon age is gone and replaced with a cringe filled mockery that is a cartoon-esque style art fitting better for world of warcraft. The writing is a very painful style that wants to point out all the obvious things you can see with cringe humor that is out of place. The darkspawn don't even look or feel like darkspawn and they sideline Varric and Solas at the start. The elven ruins don't feel connected to past games. Maybe if I could turn off my brain and forget all of the past titles I could endure this or maybe even enjoy it but I can't.
If the people who make memes lose the opportunity to make them out of these face animations, especially the scene where Morrigan is introduced, I will stop watching memes altogether (not).

All I remember is appaling colours, bad voice acting (Varric aside), a dragon that fled faster than Bolt, lots of funny running around, acrobatic and flimsy battle, and the astounding ethical dilemma of saving a mayor or ignoring him. I am talking about a mayor who condemned "my" brothers in arms, was partly responsible for the betrayal and slaughter of the people he served as a mayor and empowered "my" enemies. Yeah, that was my gut reaction too. He is a fool, just ignore him. Afterall, they did promise him money.
