Just FYI: The transmission in the XM isn’t a torque converter gearbox. The volume where usually the torque converter is located is used by the electric machine.
During the first rolling race, cars are supposed to be in the most comfort settings, but the M4 gearbox was set in most agressive setting. Look at the lines on the dashboard. XM's at 6:53 and M4's at 7:14

The most amazing thing about this race test is that you see in the rolling race the XM going 200km/h+ while the M4 leads with 180km/h+. This race really show us how different weighs affect speeds in different cars! (9:55 mins)
Manhart was never really doing a great job tuning BMWs. The 1/4 mile is more than disappointing. An RWD McLaren 720 is way faster. Also, the comparison really suffers because the XM never has been a really fast car. So an M4 CSL losing against it shows how really slow that and bad performing it is.

The reason behind the M4 CSL cutting boost in 5th and 6th is regardless of the gear or acceleration. It is because they have tuned using a piggy back, which means it only increases boost, without factoring in other parameters that a proper ecu software contains (boost, timing, etc…). This means that as the M4 is under load, boost pressure targets are above stock without changing the other parameters, leading to meany consequences that could be the reason why it was cutting boost. One reason could be that the fuel pump is unable to supply adequate fuel to the engine under 100% load, making it knock and can even misfire. Another reason could be overboost. In the end, when you want to tune your car for more power, it is always much better and much more reliable to do a proper ecu software for the car like BM3 or MHD. Hope this helped!
