  • My first video on the channel! In this video I unbox and test my second Fluke multimeter - the 87V! This is my third ever meter and I was eager to unbox it and try it out! In contrast to my 115, this is a true electronics multimeter with its milliamp and microamp ranges and frequency measurement up to 200KHz! This is a 6000 count meter with a 20,000 count high-res mode! I think this will be my main meter from now on, although I do have my eye on either the EEVBlog Brymen, 121GW or the UNI-T 61E+. I purchased this meter from RS Components here in the UK.
Please excuse the crude approach to testing the meter - this was meant to be an unboxing and first impressions, not an accurate test or review. The resistors, capacitors and diodes I used were from my junk bin, mind you, that 470nF capacitor seemed way off, I'm not good at maths, maybe someone can let me know in the comments!
If you like what you see, please consider subscribing to my channel, I have several new electronics videos lined up in the near future! I appreciate any advice or tips for stuff I'm doing wrong or should be doing in the comments as long as it's civil and constructive!

Hey guys, hope you're all having a fantastic weekend on this very warm and sunny Saturday evening! In this video I unbox my second ever Fluke meter - the 87V! This video is meant to be just an unboxing and first impressions, not a review - I'm not smart enough to review meters just yet ;) You'll notice I forgot to use/talk about the rel function, sorry about that, a pretty important feature to not go over! The parts I'm using to test the meter are just random eBay components from my junk bin, I will try and get some voltage/resistance/capacitance standards to test the meter against, I will see if I can get some!
I've been wanting to buy this meter for a long time and I finally have one! I have only ever had cheapo meters in the past, so I figured it was about time I invested in a decent one.

I'm not sure why, but timestamps don't seem to be working on my videos at the moment, sorry about that!

Thanks dude! Videos are going to be few and far between on this channel, but hoping to do a lot of mailbags, projects and experiments!

Nice function testing. I guess a Fluke 115 would have been good enough, but now you have the best of the best for both serious, professional electronics and mains electrician stuff

Great review.Greetings from iowa, USA .I'm just getting into electronics as well, (ham radio mostly)and just bought a Fluke 179 .The 87v is an amazing meter and I wish I could have afforded it Budget only could justify the 179 which is also a very solid meter.thanks for the awesome review.Cant wait till I can afford the 87.

I just purchased this and it was some kind of 75th anniversary edition. I returned it because the case was all sticky and kinda weird orange. I complained to Fluke directly..there was some kind of change..I hope they change back because I would love to have one like the model you have....thanks for the review
