You can go to Sabine pass,Tx and go by the rocks almost to the Jeties and anchor down by the rocks and cast away from the and let it sink half way to the bottom with shrimp
I'm just a 13 year old girl that loves fishing with her dad. I live in North Florida and I go to a bridge about 20 minutes from my house and use a surf rod with a 3oz weight and half a frozen crab on a mustad circle hook with no leader and cast about 20 to 30 yards from our Gheenoe and wait until the black drum takes it and just keep pressure on the rod (we use an Ugly Stick or a 6 ot reel with a 6 ft rod) we have caught 25 since june 1st and havent gone fishing everyday. The biggest fish we caught this year is a 47lbs and the smallest is a 22lbs
@@jakelencher817 most bays have bridges and same with big beaches like saint george island in florida you can fish off there but have to land the fish on the shoreline
@@fishingfoolsinflorida7207 yea well sadly im not in florida im in corpus christi texas so whenever i turn 13 and i can drive a solo skiff then i can go to our bridge without having to ride the boat with my dad, dont get me wrong its fun to go on a ride and catch some trout but i like being the captain.
Night fishing the pilings with a whole crab will hook up 60-80lb fish...scrape the barnicles off the side of the pilings to chum the fish in and hold on tight 🎣
The rest of the year they come to south América, from Brasil to Argentina. From like october to march. Then they Group again and start migrating to north América again.
i got one by accident bc i was packing my stuff to leave while i was fishing and i just got one right after i was about to leave lol then i started to catch mullets
From Cape May, NJ. When I was a teen (Am 69 now) we caught them in April and May in the Delaware Bay. Guy caught one this October while they were flounder fishing (He won the pool) on the Porgy IV. Live in Missouri now and can't believe the changes in fishing regs and what the fish are doing. Makes me a believer in Ocean Warming if not Global.
Late March they begin showing up in the Chesapeake, and the favored bait is salt clam on 6 or 8-0 hooks, same size we use for Cobia. 1Fish2Fish has a video of catching them here in July too. Only 4-7 feet down? Are you fishing on bottom, or upper column, mid column...? We actually skunked out on Black Drum this year. 12 trips and not one to show for it.
@@SeeYaDude Thanks for the info! Was about to say, if they're mid-column fish on pilings I'm gonna be mad no one told us after a couple hundred bucks of gear.
Always catch them year round on docks/bridges with current and in the winter time areas with black mud or oyster, light leader small hook they’re always spooky in the cold month, tarpon springs fl
that pier is awesome, really low usually on one side (right up against the auto bridge, so you can see what's there, then full of pilings against the fishing pier. great place to fish once all the snow birds go. too bad it closes at 9pm! :( would be a nice night fishing spot, except for the no seeums
i hooked my first black drum , had to be 50+ lbs, i fought him for about 45 minutes just for him to break my line , using a freshwater bait caster, next day went and bought a more heavy duty salt water reel and rod, and 65 test pound line, (i have only fished freshwater for bass before i moved to south florida a few weeks back)
Caught a 30 pound red drum on a cheap freshwater bait caster an h2o express for $40 im telling you those light action rods are fun asfffffff fought mine for about 25 mins
Not sure if you will see this. I was catching them from the shore of Pensacola on a 10 ft surf rod with a J hook on a drop rig with live shrimp. I was catching them in the early spring. For every 4 or 5 catfish, I'd catch a 20-40 pound drum.
Used to go to Cape May, NJ with my dad on stripper trips the first Monday after Mother’s Day, so I guess mid to late may. Caught a big drum when I was about 10/11 and ended up winning a free rod and reel for having the record drum for my age. I’ll never forget those days 😅
I pulled up a 27 inch Black Drum on an extra fast rod using 30 lbs braided line, shrimp on a weighted jig head. To be honest the rig i had set up with half a blue crab on a 7/0 circle hook kept losing the bait. Almost as if the hook wasnt setting.
So my trick for hook setting is buying the hair rubber bands the small black ones and use 2 or 3 or more or a size up but band it and slip the hook between the crab and band =hook sets beautifully =longer living live crab =more fish
Thanks! I've only fished the skyway pier once in my life and it was for goliath grouper, but it's definitely a spot I want to try to learn how to fish properly

Hey man i have a question i go down to florida once or twice a year to visit my grandmother im a huge fisherman i basically spend my whole trip fishing on the beach and under bridges im curious what set up i should buy and also how do i get to these Pilings if i dont have a kayak or boat

Always was amazed on what hung out between piling. Great video. I'm gonna have to binge on your previous videos to get caught up.

In Melbourne, going out tomorrow, big schools starting Oct. in the Indian River south to the inlet.

Is there any lag against tying to pilings? Would like to tie my canoe off and fish from piling platforms
Thanks for the tips! Gonna give it a try in Biloxy Bay!
Sg's are great reels, I use them for everything from trolling stripers to chunk baiting monster catfish.
not sure if a penn squall 20 lw will work but im gonna try before i buy a penn torque lever drag or something.

Catching large Black Drum are in Panama City/Destin area now. Using the same strategy.
They out here in texas right now
I just picked one of these reels. I’ve never used one without the line guide that spools the reel. How do you keel the line spooled evenly.
You'll have to level wind the line with your thumb when you're reeling. After some practice it becomes almost an instinct when using those reels
Finding them up north in the canals right now.. late October
