Tips for css from a player with 12 years of experience. 1. Always buy a deagle if your on eco. It’s very cheap and you can do so much with the deagle. It’s accurate even when moving and when in doubt. Spamming the deagle will be accurate enough to get a kill. You only need 3 body shots and a headshot to finish the job. 2. Get a smaller crosshairs. And keep it green because that colour sticks out the most in any environment 3. The headshot hit boxes are so big. So you should really always aim for the head. 4. And this is a big tip. Don’t ever be toxic at any time. Unlike csgo. Each server is like a school lunch table. Each have their own regulars and the occasional new kid. You become a regular by being nice to all players. You will sorta have like your own friend group and can have a happy fragging like it’s 2005. 5. Css has costume sprays. Capitalize on that Counter strike source is better than csgo and is severely underrated. I’ve had life long friendships here. All the bad people you’d expect from other games are shunned and banned by the servers they enter. We welcome new players and us css players aren’t that good ourselves despite playing for almost 2 decades. Your not living life if you’ve never played counter strike source. If you hate modern gaming and the modern world as a whole. You can come to css for a old school no bullshit gaming experience.
I wish MOBA games has people this friendly. I have quit playing FPS games a long time.ago, because my only laptop where I can play has broked, and I don't have the budget yet to buy myself a gaming rig. I played CS:GO all throughout my highschool. I missed all the time I played with my friends back then. I wish I could do that all over again.
The source engine was so ahead of it's time it's crazy, being used in 2004 and still running perfectly with no bugs on modern machines is really something. Most other old games will not run on modern machines without several community patches if the game was even kept alive by the community.
It makes me so happy to know that not only are there still people like me who still play early 2000’s games but that there are way more than you would think and theres still content creators out here like you bringing fresh content and thus encouraging younger players to join us people who have been here since the early days.
It really is. The most surprising for me is how people still play the multiplayer mod for GTA San Andreas. You can hop on and find servers each with hundreds of players.
I started playing CS:GO in 2014, 2 years after it came out. Started playing CS:S in 2020 and have almost double the hours on it than I have in GO. It's just that much better, especially the movement and the customizability.

CS:S was one of the few current multiplayer games my crappy computer could run with a decent framerate back in the mid 2000's. I never really played the intended game mode, though, and instead stuck to gun game servers, which were a lot of fun. Spent hundreds of hours in DoGz GunGame Turbo alone. Good times.
CSS player here. What would I tell a noob comming from CSGO or CS2? 1. Peeker's advantage is insane in CSS. Having an agressive playstyle is more rewarded than you think. 2. Head's hitbox is huge. That means always but deagle or AK. m4 will take 2 shots to the head for a helmeted opponent. Act like the enemy will always go for headshots but they don't have to: bodyshots will become headshots after recoil. 3. Assume every dark corner from every map in every game will have a player hidding. In csgo the devs changed the maps to improve visibility. That's not a thing in CSS. there are some console commands on the internet that can help, but not much.
The best thing about Csource was the community and the modding. Csgo was never even close to that, unfortunately. The new cs2 dosnt even have community mods (yet) and thats sad because Counter Strike is more than competitive fighting, it was fun due to its massive variability, minigames, bhop, surf, zombie mod/ranger and escape, escape maps, deathrun, hide and seek, stuff today that most modern games just dont have, hell most dont even have dedicated servers anymore. i played css so much, it was a hell of fun with that endless content.
I have almost 1k hours in CSS and I started playing last year, you see the thing is that movement custom games like bhop and surf is very alive in css still and thats what got me hooked on the game, its pretty much the game I "main" at the moment, altho I cant use it for the "intended" experience anymore since ive modded the hud away because it was in the way of my bhopping and surfing lol
Source is everyone's childhood. Everything is fine even in the default maps and bots in the nostalgic maps. Such as de_dust, de_dust2, cs_italy, de_inferno etc etc...
In css all the non rifles are very useless, except for the deagle. The usp (if u didnt notice) acts like a glock in csgo and the glock acts like a usp against armor. Most guns require 2-3 dinks, so ak and m4 are essential, if u are playing with ppl who consistently hit their shots
I like CSS a lot and i was playing it from 2008-16 and it was fun 20vs20 😀 but maps are too large imo, i playing CSGO, true is the csgo is so much competitive and game is very good, css missing ranks and proper competitive mode but i play it from time to time, its sad that CS2 replace CSGO and we are no longer play it like a CSS..
I was a beta tester for source...after the game dropped I stuck with 1.6 for years. The only reason I played source was their surf maps were insanely fun
GUYS here are some tips ;D ^So if you are bhopping bhop with ur secondary bc secondary and knife are same speed and if u bhop with ur 2nd gun you will still be able to kill ppl always aim at body or head only at the floor if u are bhopping and make sure to be nice to da ppl in da server and make sure you have a streatched res like 4:3 1024 x 768 and yea just have fun bhop and hit clips Have funn with these tips guy btw comment on this if these helped you so i kmow this was worth typing :D
the best tip that i can give is to try out all the gamemodes servers offer, wide range from surfing, to zombie modes theyre all so fun and everyone tends to find theyre vibe and play for months on there and forming a community of players
The best recommendation for someone to get into CSS is to always use the Deagle/AK/M4/AWP as the rest of the guns are rather useless in online play and since all the guns are buffed in accuracy and the hitboxes are quite large, shooting in burst firing is the best option.
Been playing CSS since around 2006 and still go back to it whenever I feel like playing CS, it’s the best CS out of them all imo and I much prefer it over 1.6. It still looks modern today which is crazy for a game that old. I didn’t get on with CSGO or CS2. Nothing matches the feel of the Source engine. Also the best thing about CSS were the mods, maps and how much fun they were.
The reason you're failing with the rifles is because you need to wait a bit longer between bursts to let the recoil reset. Also during full sprays you need to pull down a bit more.
Yeah that's because the guy who did the modeling for the guns is left handed so when the gun is mirrored on the left side of the screen it looks accurate
I'm fortunate to have played CS since version 1.3 and see it evolve through the years. I can't say I ever went back to a previous version after a new release happened. They've always done a pretty good job moving the game forward. This is even the case with CS2. I have tons of nostalgia just watching this, but I have to admit the game is in the best shape it has been in the last 23 years.

The thing about Source is that movement is key. Do not stand still. Learn how to shoot while moving and bhopping, because it's entirely possible in this game and you're generally harder to hit while moving due to how the game handles hitboxes.
CSS has/had the BEST custom games. Bhop, surfing, prison break or whatever it was called and meny others is probably what i spent most my time in the game on.

Man, I still love CS Source. Sure, I started with CS 1.6 but still, I love CS Source. It's a good game despite all the bugs. All tho, after I switched to Windows 10, for some reason game started to lag for me, even if I set everything to low in the settings. Compare that to CS GO that works for me like no problem and, well you can tell that there is something wrong. Because, how come an old game like CS Source is lagging for me but CS GO that requires modern hardware does not? Anyway, I still love CS:S. Wish that Valve fixed it with some patch and make it stable on modern systems.

I paid not too much but quite a bit of money just for GMOD textures but decided to give the actual game a try and i can't stop playing AI servers...
