People don't seem the understand he word Origin. The Kanjo and the Honda's are primarily what started the JDM/USDM scene we see today, especially since it is all in Japan. Many ignorant people in the comments talking shit about Honda and claiming that they have a fast car don't seem to understand, without the Japanese, we wouldn't have the JDM culture we see today, therefore, grow up and appreciate the machinery the Japanese have blessed us with IF you are a true driver that claims to love Japanese cars.
I totally agree with the part about respecting all Japanese cars, but kanjo primarily inspired the JDM scene elsewhere?? Based on what? One guy in this video? You must not of heard of touge, or real Japanese circuit which in turn inspired Japanese mods.
sheshd Then you didn't understand what the guy was about. Doing what they do or doing Touge is as JDM as it gets. Like he said, they do the Loop because of the Suzuka Circuit, and as You may not know, many of the Japanese cars were originated in Suzuka (mostly Hondas, but not only those), and so it might be originated in the Loop, but the Touges, which are in the mountains, is just another place to do exactly the same thing
+esdrubaldino Do you even read? I never doubted that this is not JDM. I'm saying it's not what primarily inspired it. Also this guy is about preservation of one specific type of racing hence his views are subjective.
sheshd I said PRIMARILY inspired so there is other places around Japan where Japanese modifications are popular but Honda's in Japan are what really allowed for the JDM/USDM field to bloom since it was a cheap, affordable, reliable, gas saving, yet stylish car, therefore, everybody could afford one and really modify it, in addiction, like I said previously, that is how JDM/USDM really grew. I do know what Touge is and yes Touge is most likely the majority of JDM/USDM especially since drifting was introduced within that 'section' so to speak.
Enjoy the greener grass babies. Just because car culture is also endangered in Japan due to a poor economic status that lasts over two decades and the internet that makes us a couch potato, which makes these guys a rare breed. Growing up in Japan I've been through so much shit in the local community as you folks do in the US too. Yeah we have JDM, anime, sushi, technology whateves there but it doesn't make it a unrealistic heaven on earth you may expect us to be. Sorry to say, that's your illusion. We don't respect each other deep down. Just being told to act prudish in public. Grateful everyone goes crazy over our culture, there's something yet to see behind it. I'd like you to take us as a whole not only the positive side. Are you averting your eyes or it's just invisible?
If you have a respectable budget then you wi) go for an actual car and not settle for a tinker toy, yeah civic are great for the money, weight, size, engine displacement, reliability and abuse tolerance, but it ain't no sports or muscle car... civics are for povished teenagers that just got their license nothing more.
Love the guys philosophy on true JDM & how he won't quit until this youngsters grow up & step up their game. Was hoping for full feature or more racing clips.
Totally agree with this. It seemed like there was lots of hype by bigger blogs for this vid so I was kind of hoping to see more. There were a few scenes that would get you excited but mostly a let down.
i was a devoted american muscle car/cruiser guy until i saw the street racing scene in the place i live now. if you talk shit about honda civics, you've either never owned one or you have no clue about their potential. civics for life
Most people talk shit about civics because the civics like this video are in the minority. 99% of civics are riced out by people who know nothing about cars to begin with.
I used to have a civic ek9 type r and I talk shit about civic DRIVERS I see them every single day on the highway wanting to race and all this crap because they think their vtec is invincible and can beat every car (I have an sti) and when you beat them in a straight line they talk shit. real racers know their car and don't act stupid but sadly a lot of these people drive civics
I talk shit about shitvics because there slow and don't handle that great and because Honda owners are knobs generally never forget destroying a vtec swapped eg through a tight section of road in my old satria gti(basically a 3dr mirage) when it still had stock suspension all I had done to mine was played with cam and ignition timing they guy came in to work a couple weeks later for a inspection bracing about having a heap of work done to it I just moved my car into the workshop n he shut up another time had a eg owner claim he ran a 12 second pass but somehow he couldn't keep up with my current stock auto Mitsubishi wagon admittedly it does have a tt v6 in it but is completely factory spec lol

If these guys will ever come across a bad situation such as a crash, i believe they will stop and be responsible for what they are doing. This is what keeps my heart warm about them. They are not traffic terrorists, they are fast cruisers having fun and i love it.
They do it very very early in the morning so there isn't a lot of traffic. (Side note: non-native English speaker here - What do you call the very early hours of a day, I mean like 2-4 AM? Here it would be "morning-night" but I don't think that's a real term in English, is it?)
Putting the cars aside, their mindset of keeping the legacy alive and setting the example, is what amazes me the most. I hope one day I can get to fully understand and live to that meaning.
I just moved to Japan a couple years and let's just say I've been doing this 4 years straight and it's the best type of adrenaline and excitement anyone can feel in a lifetime every time I go it's a new exciting feeling
+Joshua Seda What's the scene still like over there? I built Honda's since the late 90's. I created clubs, hosted meets that brought cars from 6+ states, built hundreds of cars over the years. To see an abundance of Civics...damn...still excites me even though I build other genres these days. You need to start a channel man...shoot that shit.
+RC000E well I just moved back to USA cause when I finished college 8 years ago I studied for aviation and mechanical engineering and so I had a decision to stay in Japan with a nice paying job or go home and get an awesome paying job so I chose the right path and went home but I still have my car a 97' type r hatch but I haven't started it in about 3 months cause I have no time but , I will never forget Japan it was something different a good different you know the car culture over here is very judgemental depending where you are or who you hang out with but in Japan it's beautiful cause nothing over thier is ugly or lame or stupid they don't judge, you roll with what you got and they respect that and trust me over thier honda is huge but yea man its nothing like here I'm gonna go back once I retire no matter what year or age I am ima still be fucking up that loop. haha 💯
Joshua Seda I would love to interview you some time for a college paper I'm writing on the reltionship of car enthusiasts and law enforcement around the world. Also because that experience sounds dope as hell
keep it sleeper. or make it drift, break the bumper a little, scratches here and there. make it not too loud, keep it a lil low. and just keep smiling ^^ i have a civic and keep it stock and sweet for the eye. no spoilers or chamber on mine. no loud exhaust. i feel pain inside when i see a ricer.. makes the honda look bad :( while the honda's in general are very good cars. i always get tailgated by audi's and then i feel shit inside, cuz they always get onto me. but i gues its the prize of driving a car you love. i havent met a single VAG car driver being nice to me.. eventhough i always give ppl their way, letting ppl pass, drive calm.. aah well.. whatever i gues :3 ill let the haters hate ^^ atleast i dont have to fix my car every 3 weeks.
also in the phillipines there is too much hate for the civics because most of the drivers only costumized it for the looks and to pick up girls but im just a kid and i would love to have a ek or an eg for a fwd
Leo Cablao same here.. but they do the most weird things making em look stupid -_- makes me wanna puke they do that.. aah well.. i am happy with my civic, and my dad is happy with his civic. well his civic is a wolf in sheep clothing xD
Japan's like the only place in the world where street racing can't seem to be stamped out. It just keeps on surviving and that's what makes me respect them somewhat more. Would love to go over there and experience it someday.
Being raised around American muscle made my mind narrow until I was stationed in Japan. It's a whole different story and lifestyle out here and it's a beautiful thing. It's not always about who has the biggest and baddest engine dropped into a gorgeous body of steel or how fast you can go in a straight line. It's really just about what you find a passion in whether it's drag racing, drifting, building/rebuilding cars, joy riding, or anything really. It's just so overwhelming because I've been engulfed into both worlds now.
not a fan of japanese/asian cars , not by a long shot actually, (hardcore American Muscle fanatic) however i think that this is very respectable, it is about the passion, the enthusiasm and enjoyment of cars and all things that come with it. that is why i think real car enthusiast all have or should/could have mutual respect, regardless of brand/model/type/segment loyalty and personal preference. at the end of the day, it all boils down to the spirit and sheer enjoyment of motoring/motorsports, the sensation and thrill of going fast, whether in circles, straights, on tarmac, dirt tracks etc. in a highly competitive manner is what connects all of us.
I love learning about the Kanjo and all the cool car culture in Japan. The bit talking about what true JDM is, anything from the Supra backward but he has a point.
Great content. This is the real deal, not the watered down and scripted business of a Hollywood executive. This is what Japanese Car Culture is all about, the Legacy.
I think age has a lot to do with it. They even mention in the video they used to fight when they were younger. In the past they were probably fighting for some kind of pride, now they're just glad there are others keeping the tradition alive. Same happens in the US, in high school everyone is trying to be hot shit when it comes to racing, whereas when you get older into your 30's everyone is just glad people came out to an autocross or track day to have someone to drive with and race against. It becomes less about being #1 and more about having a good time.
I don't mind Japanese people driving Hondas. They normally do it right (Though there are a few exceptions). You can tell these cars have been upgraded and are genuinely fast. It's AMERICANS driving Hondas that pisses me off. A new body kit, fart cannon, stickers covering your car, and shitty black rims, and you still haven't upgraded the engine. That's the difference between Japanese and American drivers - one actually knows how to upgrade the engine.
This video shows why the term ricer is bullshit, and i know, the term ricer is 90% of the time wrongly used to mean any japanese car that isnt a sports car when its supposed to mean a car that is made to look faster than it actually is but with the way it is used it is bullshit, why does it matter that a civic isnt a sports car? its about the fun of driving a car as fast as it goes and a civic, you have to admit is faster than most fwd hatchbacks.
***** in terms of handling, civics will smash any other FWD older than 2002. Thanks to the DWB suspension and light weight. That's why kanjozuku used them on the loop
Why so much hate on Honda, because it goes BRAAAP and alotof people rice it ? I dont get it, the civic, and most hondas ,are great and fast cars, with great handling and small engine
'cause stupid people get bored and need something to hate on, plus they get butt hurt when a turbo B16 busts a nut all over their cars with only half their motor.
im a brazilian guy, japanese descendent, and kanjo culture stay in my veins, civic hatch is my passion, i aprecciated all this guys and all of they constroy a long of the years
seems like most people here don't understand that different people like different things. if you like a civic good for you, if you like a Camaro good for you. I personally love cars and even though I prefer jdm cars, I still appreciate all other cars on the road and the time that people take to make them their own.
GTR is such a incredibly amazing car, for the streets and the tracks. WRX, STI and the EVO is another awesome autos, on the streets and on the track. Mazda RX7 and RX8 great car.
Everyone hates on Honda, and I hate them too. But Honda's CAN be fast, and they handle better than 90% of the cars you will find driving around. I can see why these guys use Civics and shit for this, cheap, fastish, and handle good. Like they said, they're light, can stop on a dime. It's an all around good car, you can have the whole package with any car for a cheap price.
every country has it's own iconic hatchback, Japan in general likes the old Civic and Corollas, Italy is famed for it's old Lancias, Alfa Romeos and Germany has the Golf only, every other German hatchback came very late. There is nothing wrong with a Civic or a Honda, I think people just want to hate for no reason
A lot of people here in the US (specially LA) have given the civic a bad reputation putting on hideous body kits, outrageous mods etc and i think that is one of the reasons a lot of people hate civics
Agree with Powaup. Literally 90% of the Hondas I see anymore are riced out as fuck. Retarded kits, or stickers and vinyl shit or wings. Makes all Honda guys look bad really.
Powaup Yea i personally don't have a problem with Hondas as a car but their owners are typically ignorant ricers who think they are fast because they have an intake and fart cannon muffler. I've been in a few fast hondas and they can be impressive. Although the whole fail wheel drive thing will always hold them back. S2k, cool car because RWD
5:28 he says that the scene was a lot bigger in the past and I feel like this is very true because when I see videos on racing on the kanjo or any highway it’s not like how it used to be you know I personally wouldn’t know I wasn’t born in that time but idk just something about that makes me wonder what it would be like if I was born during that time and got to experience it
Usually only people who know very little about the car scene and technical stuff, hate on Hondas.. If you actually know something about cars, you wouldn't hate on Honda.. In fact, from the 80s up until the early 2000's, it was the only engines to make so much horsepower, out of so little displacement and NO turbo! That's why Honda Engines shit on Ferrari's, Lambo's, Mercs, BMWs, Mustangs, Chevy's you name it.. :-P Honda is the best engine in the world.
I love my civic. Japan 🇯🇵 has a special place in my heart, and I love that wether I'm here in Colorado, USA or in Japan I have people that enjoy the Honda lifestyle.
What that guy said is what car culture should be all about teaching and having fun and making new pals while living on the edge these men and women are truly free
people keep bashing hondas because they're slow. well in a drag race or even a top speed run against whatever car you want to put them against sure they wont win unless heavily modified for that specific reason, but thats not the spirit of the civic. the civic was designed for tight circuits and thats where its brilliance lies its a cheap car to obtain and maintain all you need is a solid suspension and some sticky tires and you could have a blast with a stock engine down a winding back road or a circuit. i could almost guarantee that if you brought whatever car you wanted (with in reason) to the civics turf it would have trouble keeping up with the civic. and if anyone has anything to say about this come meet me in the mountain ill show you what a civic could do.
SpecialED77tag the civics handle well also..at least the EF, EG, EK hatches, CRX's, and integras. There's a guy with supercharged EF hatch that runs a couple of the canyons here in SoCal
SpecialED77tag Couldn't put your comment better myself, I have genuine ep3 JDM and have beaten cars on twisty B roads, that are a lot more powerful. The power of dreams 🇯🇵
sad you sold it mate. sweet looking cars. ill keep my EK for a long while, it never let me down. reliable and cheap. ill keep it nice and stock. no spoilers for this EK! but look on honda communities, there must be an EF for sale for a good prize! but buy it from a real fan, otherwise you end up buying junk :/ (well thats with all cars)
shout out to Darrell Bacon and his rear engine Civic from the good old street racing days we used to run in the beginning of the 1990's till about 1997-1998. Those were the great days of illegal street racing. This video brought back some great memories, thanks BOWLS FILMS.
This is one of many reasons I love my 1989 Honda Civic Si Hatchback! Besides it being all original (Including the original Honda Championship White Paint) it is rare and has history. I'll never part with my 89 Si...
The weight is way lighter compared to Coupes, maybe not by Extreme difference but lighter forsure. And better handling than a Heavier car just common sense.
The JDM ninja speaks the truth. There's no adrenaline rush like racing on public roads in the middle of the night with your buddies.

because most of the people here are raised like shit heads from their shit head parents who are probably shit heads.

Yea I love the positivity and the car culture in general, reminds me of Germany a bit

Bossix84 AGAIN, if you have a grown mans budget , , , you'll have more options
+Queef Micester not everyone has a grown man's budget so I think the civic is a good car to get started on.
I agree with the guy. Current JDM is not the true JDM. Even the current Skyline have lost its charm.
nimay13 The current skyline isn't even a skyline.
nimay13 i didnt knew there is a current skyline..
RB26DETT agreed. The r35 isn't considered a skyline, just a successor

while the honda's in general are very good cars.
i always get tailgated by audi's
and then i feel shit inside, cuz they always get onto me.
but i gues its the prize of driving a car you love.
i havent met a single VAG car driver being nice to me..
eventhough i always give ppl their way, letting ppl pass, drive calm..
aah well.. whatever i gues :3
ill let the haters hate ^^
atleast i dont have to fix my car every 3 weeks.
also in the phillipines there is too much hate for the civics because most of the drivers only costumized it for the looks and to pick up girls
but im just a kid and i would love to have a ek or an eg for a fwd
Leo Cablao same here..
but they do the most weird things making em look stupid -_-
makes me wanna puke they do that..
aah well..
i am happy with my civic, and my dad is happy with his civic.
well his civic is a wolf in sheep clothing xD
But i think not huge hate for estillo, i love that and its still looks pretty for stance i guess
Japan's like the only place in the world where street racing can't seem to be stamped out. It just keeps on surviving and that's what makes me respect them somewhat more. Would love to go over there and experience it someday.
I don't understand why people have to go about sharing their opinions, specially when they hate something... or are envious...
For attention. Some people are just dicks like that.
Like someone said opinions are like assholes and everybody has one.
+Curi0u50ne The saying is actually, " Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and they all stink."
It's western culture apparently
Being raised around American muscle made my mind narrow until I was stationed in Japan. It's a whole different story and lifestyle out here and it's a beautiful thing. It's not always about who has the biggest and baddest engine dropped into a gorgeous body of steel or how fast you can go in a straight line. It's really just about what you find a passion in whether it's drag racing, drifting, building/rebuilding cars, joy riding, or anything really. It's just so overwhelming because I've been engulfed into both worlds now.
日本人の私からしてもこの分野はとてもディープなもので、かつとてもローカルに行われていると思います。
not a fan of japanese/asian cars , not by a long shot actually, (hardcore American Muscle fanatic) however i think that this is very respectable, it is about the passion, the enthusiasm and enjoyment of cars and all things that come with it. that is why i think real car enthusiast all have or should/could have mutual respect, regardless of brand/model/type/segment loyalty and personal preference. at the end of the day, it all boils down to the spirit and sheer enjoyment of motoring/motorsports, the sensation and thrill of going fast, whether in circles, straights, on tarmac, dirt tracks etc. in a highly competitive manner is what connects all of us.
Spoken like a true enthusiast, you deserve a fucking medal.
thankyou japan for inspiring me and others so that the car scene still lives on and i will continue to help pass that down.
Lol just turned into an automotive weeaboo
ikr..I wanna go out and buy a civic beater and throw a fart can on it right now!
+gilbert martinez nice ride bro
Likewise and I have a B6 S4.
Let's send our cars over to Japan and meet on the Kanjo. xD
same
Marcus Rhodes let's do it and I drive s C280 Mercedes but from my name you can tell I'm JDM as fuck
people in the comments don't understand the kanjo, nor what the term rice means apperently... shame...
exactly
rice cars is shame, but kanjo, its diffrent. kanjo is to be respected, not like rice
Dude you sound like you are stuck in 1997 lol stfu
@@zhixci958 why do you label americans as being flashy not everyone is the same even in japan everyone is diffrent in there own way
Ikr
I love learning about the Kanjo and all the cool car culture in Japan. The bit talking about what true JDM is, anything from the Supra backward but he has a point.
Nah, even the Supra suffers. I can count on my fingers how many people know from which Toyota model the Supra was "born", so to speak.

i have that song on my phone lol, always play it in my car :) I love midnight club 2!
Yesss haha i didn't expect to see this comment i love mc2
Great content. This is the real deal, not the watered down and scripted business of a Hollywood executive. This is what Japanese Car Culture is all about, the Legacy.
They thank each other after a race? Mutual respect as it is a culture everyone enjoys to partake in. It's too bad it isn't the same here in the US.
In the US it instantly turns into somekind of street racing gun fight or a fistfight when you lose
The US sucks. All about having the biggest dick lol or being one..
There are too many honda ricers in US
I think age has a lot to do with it.
Different cultures :)
Now there's racing game on steam, Kanjozoku race. The fanbase is truly amazing that even has game adaptation
That's the difference between Japanese and American drivers - one actually knows how to upgrade the engine.
inky blame Fast and The Furious lol
I’m an American but I would definitely modify a car before I slapped a bunch junk on it
Ignorant ass comment
they actually use stock motors mostly. either stock type r or stock dohc vtec motors. some even run single cams on the loop lol.
Not my stage 1+ Mazda speed 3!
Arjay Dizon Nagal Lmao yeah it is 😂
Honda or bust
And let the swarm of negative Honda hate commence. VTEC
No turbo 1.4l engine = 140 hp (vtec) + some kind of turbo =300 hp
im a brazilian guy, japanese descendent, and kanjo culture stay in my veins, civic hatch is my passion, i aprecciated all this guys and all of they constroy a long of the years

this is about racing on the street and almost dieing every time its about being a man. and doing what you love no matter what others think.
it's really nice to see people see the Civic for what it is

seems like most people here don't understand that different people like different things. if you like a civic good for you, if you like a Camaro good for you.
TheClubshaker
if they aint hatin then youre not doing it right
Agree with Powaup. Literally 90% of the Hondas I see anymore are riced out as fuck. Retarded kits, or stickers and vinyl shit or wings. Makes all Honda guys look bad really.
Powaup
Yea i personally don't have a problem with Hondas as a car but their owners are typically ignorant ricers who think they are fast because they have an intake and fart cannon muffler.
I've been in a few fast hondas and they can be impressive. Although the whole fail wheel drive thing will always hold them back. S2k, cool car because RWD
wow that last one give me the spokes
true
Same here!
ルーレット族もそうだけどなんだかんだ絶対に絶やしてはいけない文化よね
5:28 he says that the scene was a lot bigger in the past and I feel like this is very true because when I see videos on racing on the kanjo or any highway it’s not like how it used to be you know I personally wouldn’t know I wasn’t born in that time but idk just something about that makes me wonder what it would be like if I was born during that time and got to experience it
Amazing! I just love the kanjozoku culture, thanks for this!
Never in my life have i seen a civic video without the word ricer going to my head. Thank God for that
Usually only people who know very little about the car scene and technical stuff, hate on Hondas..
But little do they know that Civic can Rev redline to boost speed?
Wow!!! Awesome footage.... Good Job! ♡ Thanks Bowls Film~~~~~
It's the original culture and form of jdm that I love about Honda. This video really makes me miss driving mine.
i fall in love to kanjo style..
its not matter its a honda or civic.. we respect their culture of driving, style, how they loving cars.. we are all love driving here.. :)

I love my civic. Japan 🇯🇵 has a special place in my heart, and I love that wether I'm here in Colorado, USA or in Japan I have people that enjoy the Honda lifestyle.

In Tokyo, we have Mid Night Club. In Osaka, we have the Kanjozoku. Japan’s street racing scene is sure great and beautiful
100%. We should not let it die.
people keep bashing hondas because they're slow. well in a drag race or even a top speed run against whatever car you want to put them against sure they wont win unless heavily modified for that specific reason, but thats not the spirit of the civic. the civic was designed for tight circuits and thats where its brilliance lies its a cheap car to obtain and maintain all you need is a solid suspension and some sticky tires and you could have a blast with a stock engine down a winding back road or a circuit. i could almost guarantee that if you brought whatever car you wanted (with in reason) to the civics turf it would have trouble keeping up with the civic. and if anyone has anything to say about this come meet me in the mountain ill show you what a civic could do.
Miata..nuff said lol.
The miata is awesom i have no problem with miata owners they actuall drive their cars a battle between a civic and a miata would be awesome

In the western hemisphere the civic doesnt get the respect they deserve because of those damned ricers.
stop it
But these guys would be called ricers here too

Kanjo racer in osaka. While in tokyo they race at Wagan. 😁

Rockstar Games acknowledged the Kanjozoku with the new vehicle Dinka Blista Kanjo. It's a copy of the EK Type R. ♥
why do a lot of them prefer to used the hatchback style? I'm curios
Ose93da For better handling. :-)
ThomsenLives but how does the hatch handle better?
Its smaller. and the weight is less than the other ones.. :p ive tried both Civics.. and the hatchback is just more fun in corners.
The weight is way lighter compared to Coupes, maybe not by Extreme difference but lighter forsure. And better handling than a Heavier car just common sense.
oh okay its lighter, cool thanks guys

I use to hate the civic but man I have open my eyes to them and they are somewhat growing into me
Very interesting video!
Someone knows the name of that front bumper of that white EK9?
i believe its a C-west bumper
Why any of them have newer civics like the EP3 or FD2?
Moreira Da Lima because it will take away the iconic 90's look of the Kanjo culture
Globalizatios is fucking this, the new civic 2017 will be the same worldwide, and this means less exclusive
Moreira Da Lima Gen 4/5/6 civics (87-99) have double wishbone front and multilingual rear suspension. best handling fwd cars.
