Mainz is a wonderful new and modern city located in Germany. Mainz lies on the Main and Rhine rivers. Mainz is located on the western bank of the Rhine River. The city's population is approximately 218,000. This city is divided into 15 districts. The city districts are Weisenau, Old Town, Bretzenheim, Dreis, Eberzheim, Finten, Gonsenheim, Hartenberg-Münchfeld, Hechtsheim, Laubenheim, Lerchenberg, Marienborn, Mombach, Neustadt, Oberstadt. This city is home to the very popular Johannes Gutenberg University. Mainz is also the capital of winemaking, located in the largest region of Rheinhessen, which has many wineries. Mainz belongs to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The city is very picturesque, the amazing and romantic architecture will take you back many years. The central picturesque streets that are located in the old town will lead to the Cathedral of St. Martin of Tours, and in the Baroque and Rococo style houses you can see many small family shops. In Mainz you can see many fountains from different eras. The most memorable ones are the market and carnival ones. And the most modern landmark is the synagogue, which was built in 2008 as a sign of reconciliation and restoration of the Jewish community.
What is unique is that it is located on the banks of the Rhine River, and across the bridge is the city of Wies Baden. And these two cities are completely different. Wies Baden St. has its architecture, grandeur and old mysterious houses, while Mainz boasts a variety of architecture, often old houses abruptly turning into a new Art Nouveau style. In Mainz you can meet a bunch of tourists at any time, winter or summer, this city is like a magnet for them. A walk around Mainz will bring you a lot of pleasure and put you in a good mood for a long time.
