Listen to the last 2-3 min of this conversation and you would know how he came on road after his father died taking too seriously, an accident and an assistant's death during shooting. After his father died, he and his siblings went through terrible hardship for almost a decade. They had to leave the house and shifted to pretty humble living space somewhere in Goregaon. He uses ro walk 6-8 km one way to reach the studio to save the money on transportation. For that decade of poverty and deprivation, he worked terribly hard and he still works very hard. Whosoever is making joke out of his "middle class" approach despite his father having an SUV, must pay attention to that poverty ridden decade after his father died.

I have made a video on How 'Dilwale' Could Have Been Better - Episode 12. I wish there were more action. Imagine, Kajol with a sniper covering Shah Rukh as he fights the goons and later join him in a gun shootout. It would be so great cinematic experience.

They were well to do and his father was well known but his family and upbringing have always been middle class and simple and he was 8 when his father passed away, so from 8 years onwards he saw a lot as a young kid from his mother struggling and working to becoming homeless.
