R U' R2' U' R is the new Yau religion and I am the pastor
This trigger also works very well of reduction L4E, this is simply beautiful.
I switched from Yau5 to Yau about 6 months ago for the same reason and I think I broke every PB the day I switched. I will join your religion
wow, so you're just legendary at making anything make a ton of sense? You got me to practice 5x5 a bit more, getting to average the same at redux/yau5. (I felt like I was ok at 'filtering f2l edges')
The Indian Yau refers to Yau4 (2 centers, cross, centers, last edge, free slice edges, 3x3), while Yau5 is the same except for the differences Jay mentioned in his video
Huh, neat thought! I like it.
I don't actually use the 5 move trigger thing haha. But I'll give it a go and experiment with it a bit, just not before this weekend.
You're right it would be interesting if I could squeeze out a WR or two in my endeavours, to bad that ain't gonna happen.
Did you think you were ever gonna dominate big cube ers as hard as you are now? Keep pushing! B)
Only smart people are able to look back on their theories and realize they're wrong. And in a world of fools, who push their bull crap too far, it's nice to have a straightforward thinking pasture for our new religion. All hail Jay McNeil
Pastor* screw you voice to text
I can be a pasture too
I won’t be surprised if u start a yau podcast
I appreciate ur rambles even if u went on for an hour id listen to the whole thing
Honestly making these is super fun for me and a great way to share legitimately interesting cubing info with people. I might make this a semi regular thing ;D
@@JaydenMcNeill You should definitely make videos like these more often. Your rambles are really interesting
I agree, they are entertaining and ACTUALLY TEACH PEOPLE STUFF
Coming from the perspective of a Hoya solver, this was unexpectedly very informative. Correct me if I'm wrong but Hoya is less popular due to move efficiency compared to Yau no?
Irregardless, they obviously achieve the same basic benefits and lead to the same problem in L4E. Can't believe I never thought about such a simple trigger. I heard about Yau5 solving F2L pairs but never thought the principle could be used so simply at the same time.
Amazing. This may slightly revolutionize my big cube edges.......

Redux is better than Yau for big(ger) cubes
Originally using standard Yau on 5x5 and 6x6, reduction on 7x7+ but later switched to Yau5 all the way up to 9x9 after your "Why I use yau for bigcubes video". At first I really enjoyed the "don't have to look at the back" and achieving 2 things with every slice-insert-slice back during L4E, but but now definitely agree R U' R2 U' R will achieve the advantages while avoiding some of the disadvantages. Plus on 5x5 often very easy and obvious edges show up within the E slice, especially for the E R2 E' R2 cases. I end up using standard Yau over Yau 5 for most of my 5x5 solves.
I laughed so hard at the "edgy little snowflake angel" 8:33 lol
My progression has stalled with redux and I think this might actually make me commit to yau. Thanks for all the insightful videos lately!
Loving the regular uploads
I find it's pretty hard not to mess up the 4th cross edge if I do it before last 4 centers.
Thanks for inspiring me to practice. I'll switch to this and resist the temptation to redux again
Actually something funny I realized found out about recently: If you do yau or hoya on really big cubes (like 10x10+), yau5 definitely is not worth it, because there is technique for solving 9th and 10th edge without restoring freeslice until after.
Okay, just found this and tried it out, broke my nub -ass PB by 20ish seconds. Good stuff as always Jay
I may be stupid, but I don't understand the difference between "Yau" and "Yau5". Is "Yau" just Yau4? And how does that trigger apply? Wouldn't it only work if the 2 pairs were layed out a certain way? I'm still kind of new to 5x5 but understand the basics of Yau5 and Redux.
With yau5 you solve 2 f2l pairs before l4e to make lookahead easier. With yau you don't need to do that. R U' R2' U' R just takes out 2 unsolved edges so you get the same advantage as solving the 2 pairs
Actually I'm using yau for 3x3
I use edges first for 2x2
considering the recent email, any chance there may be a video regarding hoya in the future?
Just checking - does doing R U’ R2’ U’ R basically achieve the same goal as solving 2 F2L pairs, just with two random edges? So you don’t have to look at the back slots?
I tried reduction but whenever I use Yau i break all my PBs, I tried to switch to reduction after watching kavin hay's video but Yau is bery bery good for me (happy emoji)
Where is the best place for yau stuff?
9:18 You're likely not gonna respond but if you do, here is the question: Do you mean you believe Yau is better for even 6x6 and 7x7 or just 4x4 and 5x5?
He said 5x5 and up
Eyebrow raise at 9:25 lol
Remember kids, using Yau5 isn't a personality
I don't do any cubes bigger than 3x3, so I have no idea what this video is......
Love the thumbnail
Actual thoughts on hoya? (On 4x4 and also 5x5 and up)
its fun on 5x5+, on 4x4 its more fun getting good times
Im gonna use this tip!
Yay is better than redux because with yau you skip cross and you don't have to double rotate.
I'm from Ireland 🇮🇪
I’m joining the religion but with Hoya
lovely thumbnail

Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy Hoyaaaaaa
I feel like I’m being woooshed
Freeslice n redux is much better
Not anymore since 2021
Wait, what exactly does the trigger accomplish? Could you perhaps show some example solves with it being implemented
By having 4 edges paired in the U layer you do the trigger and will fill up 2 slots with filled edges, thus making the rest of edge pairing as nice as it is in the Yau5 method
Jayden McNeill wait do you guarantee that those are the correct edges? Doesn’t that remove the point of free slice if you’ll have to solve the pairs again anyways?
Well at least this video is sub-10
Squeaky chair
Wet
Eh, I’m gonna stick to redux
Who cares cuz beginners redux is the best
