@@jtlovescodelyoko I personally think that Musgraves album is one of the worst of the year. The mixing and Auto tuning is horrendous and the songs are as bland as week old bread.
@@MrIrrelevant58 In My Opinion, the Lyrical Content was weaker than Kacey's previous work, but I love the production and I enjoy the album, I understand that some people didn't enjoy this album.

I unfortunately didn't get to a lot of new music last year, but some of my favorites I heard, in no particular order, were: ~Nurture by Porter Robinson, a gorgeously written and produced album of glorious self-actualization amidst trauma and turmoil that was my rock this year more than any other album. ~A Beginner's Mind by Sufjan Stevens & Angelo de Augustine, a beautiful collaboration that felt like a breath of fresh morning air. ~For the first time by Black Country, New Road, a magnetic and powerful release that makes me unbelievably excited for what's coming next from this band. ~To See the Next Part of the Dream by Parannoul, the album I was the most sad about getting to late; it's hard to describe just how gorgeous and yet quietly tragic this Korean shoegaze record is. ~GLOW ON by Turnstile, which is just banger after banger and gets me energized whenever I listen to it. ~Jubilee by Japanese Breakfast, with some of the most lush, potent pop compositions of the year across a vibrant and inspiring record. ~Mercurial World by Magdalena Bay, a progressive pop album that's hypnotic, kaleidoscopic, and altogether beautiful, the sort of album I put on just to get lost in. ~The Turning Wheel by Spellling, a tour de force of ornate, pristine baroque music that deserves every bit of praise it's gotten. An honorable mention would be We Will Always Love You by The Avalanches, an album I only got to this year but that I absolutely adore.

Sticking with 50, huh? (If you're new here, these lists used to be limited to 25.) I'm not complaining. Just means more content from Mark to enjoy! Fingers crossed that you'll be bringing back the best, worst, and controversial compilations for 2021. I've rewatched those latter two so many times.
Awesome list. A bunch I hadn't heard and a bunch I loved but didn't think would be on your list (admittedly I haven't seen every one of your reviews). I do wish Pop Culture Radio by Bloxx was on here. That album is freakin' awesome and reminds me a lot of early 2000s pop rock music that I miss to this very day.
I listened to several of the albums on this list, a few of them because you had some on your top 50 songs. Yeah I can DEFINITELY agree on that McKinley Dixon album. I'm not even big on rap but GODDAMN this album struck a chord with me.

Great list! Your videos introduced me to Epica and Adeem the Artist in 2021, thank you so much for that. I'm also happy to see many of my favorites higher on your list than I thought they would be, especially Brandi Carlile, Yola and Marina (also completely agree with your take about taking a stand vs ironic disaffection with the last one). My own top 10 would also include SIMBI by Little Simz and Creeper's 'American Noir' EP. Looking forward to your content once again this year!

I’m not very explorative with my music consumption and usually stick to pop music. I did find 2021 to be quite disappointing, especially compared to 2020, in terms of album/EP output. 50? Amazing dedication. I don't listen to albums, only songs with accompanied music video. The two music acts with the most songs on the Best of the Year list were country band Midland and rapper Ekoh yet neither had songs in Top 20 Songs Of The Year. By default this means Midland and Ekoh would be albums of the year
I'm glad I could add cast iron pansexual to my list thanks to discovering it here. I'm pansexual and gender queer so it hit home. Ive not seen Fantanos list yet but I'm shocked black dresses emotional gut punch didn't land on any list I've seen. It's the top of mine
Don’t have a list yet but I haven’t seen Gold Mouf by Lute in ANY list and that is insane…. If you haven’t listened to that album give it a go. Top 10 album for me this year

Yknow mark when people get annoyed by your lists Following up one of the most critically acclaimed albus of this year with an oveppked Emma blacker project it's kinda tonal whiplash
the emily scott robinson album has bland instrumentation and basic ass lyrics and it is not profound in any way 😭😭 the fact that you picked that as your second best album in a year full of fantastic music is so embarrassing
wow, thank you so much! 🖤
Love this!

@@danielk3678 Thank You
@@jtlovescodelyoko I personally think that Musgraves album is one of the worst of the year.
This was a fun list to go through.

I unfortunately didn't get to a lot of new music last year, but some of my favorites I heard, in no particular order, were:
~Nurture by Porter Robinson, a gorgeously written and produced album of glorious self-actualization amidst trauma and turmoil that was my rock this year more than any other album.

So happy to see McKinley Dixon at number 1. One of my albums of the year also, absolutely wonderful record
I have never listened to any of these albums, let alone *heard of* most of them! I have to change that soon. ✊
This is always my favourite video every year. I love how well argued and the variety of albums on here.
Awesome list. A bunch I hadn't heard and a bunch I loved but didn't think would be on your list (admittedly I haven't seen every one of your reviews). I haven't heard as many albums as you did in 2021 so I locked my list in at the beginning of December at 25 albums. I have heard more albums from 2021 that I would add to my list in the last few weeks of December and the beginning of 2022, so here is my list as I locked it in plus the list of albums I heard late that I would add.

Looking forward to your content once again this year!
fantastic list man, soo many gems I missed. hope 2022 is good to you, thanks for the reccs!

@@jeremyusreevu237 WE JUST TRYNA CATCH A GOOD TIME EVEN IF IT TAKES ALL NIGHT 🤠
NDA should've been a smash hit!
Indeed it should have.
Couldn't agree more.
Agree on sentiment, but imagine hearing that on the radio how would you react? If I'm honest, I would rather want the other singles that underperformed to have been smashes cuz Lost Cause was robbed goddamit
Lost cause should have been
@@SriLankanStuff No, that song was boring.
my number one album is diablo swing orchestras swagger and stroll down the rabbit hole. Just an absolutely manic and impressive showing.
Great list.
Don’t have a list yet but I haven’t seen Gold Mouf by Lute in ANY list and that is insane…. If you haven’t listened to that album give it a go. Top 10 album for me this year
A bit surprised to not see Thrice’s Horizons/East not make this list.

Yknow mark when people get annoyed by your lists
Following up one of the most critically acclaimed albus of this year with an oveppked Emma blacker project it's kinda tonal whiplash
Que 2021 es 2022
👍
Why isn’t Quadeca on this list 😡
I don’t know exactly what Unrequited’s album is, but it sure the hell ain’t black metal. Maybe symphonic gray metal, if there was such a thing.
the emily scott robinson album has bland instrumentation and basic ass lyrics and it is not profound in any way 😭😭 the fact that you picked that as your second best album in a year full of fantastic music is so embarrassing
Well, I made an entire review of it exploring how you're wrong on that front, but go off or something 😉
