Good that there is my video of Lakehurst I am currently doing a photography project taking a look of the Lakehurst Mall area 20 years after it's demolition in 2004.
Been fascinated with this footage since I first saw bits of it in your Fast Times/Dawn of the Dead-style mashup almost 20 years ago. Thank you for doing a proper re-scan, this stuff is priceless!
The gift tree was awesome. The poster was just the tip of the iceberg. We got our rock back patches, pins and much more there. Before the internet this is one of the few places to get your rock and metal merch.
I have posters, key chains, photos, t-shirts, etc. from both Jokers Wild and Gift Tree. Remember that grungy photo book of photos? It was dirty and gross. I have photos of Maiden, Roth, Dio, and Wizard of Oz.
This is really fascinating. How did you get them to let you inside? The security guy seems really easy-going and understanding of what you wanted to do.
I stopped by the night before and asked him in the parking lot right outside carsons. He said cone back tomorrow for an answer from management for approval. I filmed the Belvidere mall, Genesee theater and Lakehurst in one day. Just wish I had a better camera back then.
@@verysharpeditingman Wow I really like that - the direct approach - and it paid off. Yeah, I think we look back at things and always think "If only I had better gear or whatever" but you DID get in and got excellent footage and comments from the security guy. The technical quality didn't bother me because I remember those early days of learning about video recording; watching your video mentally took me back there to Lakehurst and that's why I really appreciated it.
In my experience, if you're honest, compassionate and truly care about what you're doing and want to do, people sometimes recognize that and honor you for what you're looking to accomplish. I've been working in the video field since the 90s.
I worked at Things Remembered booth forever. Great footage

Thanks! That video got flagged.
This video is so cool!!
Had some good time in that mall. In high school I worked at Wiebolt's as Christmas help

If I remember correctly, I got my first concert tickets there in 1984. Motley Crue and Ozzy. I still have a bunch of things I bought there.
@eaglepointtradingco636 I was at same show at Rosemont Horizon. My first real big indoor concert. I was like, oh they can swear on stage? Lol
Me too!
