Most I ever hung in an 8hr day was 49 12' 5/8 sheets. And yes they were all screwed off. It was not a hallway . sort of a setup like this in and out of some offices. I'm proud of it but will never do it again was dead for 2 days after lol And the foremen was like that just makes up for the days you didn't get your quto 😢 And it's not literally an 8 hour day. Take away Union break around 15 20 minutes. Bathroom breaks and 40 minute lunch or so.
Some of them do! I worked with winner on the job site and was the one who invited him to this event and that is how he works day in and day out and he is union!
how is this competition? i see collated guns with batteries everywhere, they are super quick, was it requirement for corded tools and perfect framing? even up competition?
If only you'd pay them enough. Get straight to the point, if they can get a job done fast and right, pay them the same amount they would've gotten had they taken a "normal" pace. Win-win for everyone.
I'm a tile setter and a tile I tile a lot of projects that carpenters put together very fast and you can tell nothing to square and solid . Remember quality is better than quantity. I wouldn't want my house put together that fast that's when people cut corners.
Off course no body is running on construction site except selfemployed who is payed by job. But we should have more of such a competitions to teach young generation that this is worthy to be good at work. It always works in both sides. If you want to be good payed, be good at work. If you are good at work but boss doesn't want increase salary... kick him in ass and go to someone else! But if U R lazy man not thinking at work and wasting time and materials...
Right. It's funny because it looked like the other guys were off to a faster start due to the bigger sheets, but with his sheet all cut up he blew the competition out of the water.
We used to have a race drilling the truss cleat bolt holes threw the metal gang plates 😂your at height !and if it binds up with the 17 mm drill with a 500w drill theirs trouble 😂
Each participant had both a corded and cordless screw gun at their disposal. They were not allowed to use their own though, which sucked because the corded Alejandro was using was working like crap so he decided to switch back to his cordless to screw off the sheets.
Sadly no because all of the painters were either sitting on a barstool drinking beer or they couldn’t get a ride to the site because of the 4 DUI’s they have on their records.
Lul when ya need an extra 5 rooms hung quick. Drywall comp come sign up! First place is this bag of tools the framing competition guys left! Mudding competition following the hanging one so stay tuned!
Just wondering why none of these guys are using collated screw guns... Once you have a sheet in place it should take less than a minute to get the main anchoring screws in then bang out the extra ones every couple feet. My brother works for a commercial drywalling company and that's all they used. Reaching for a screw wastes time and can cause you to slip and not keep the drywall tight.
Ah the Sheetrock guys, Cue in the extension cords everywhere, Monsters, Pee bottles, Clogged up urinals, Jalapeño tails on the ground, Straight scum of the site. Believe that.
Cordless, the corded is better for speed (RPM wise). They used cordless guns to tack the sheets up so they could be more mobile and then would screw it off with a corded,
They should have framed it crooked like in reality to actually make it a challenge
😂😂😂
Right lol.. You never know it might have been as I am pretty sure apprentices in the apprenticeship program framed these walls for the competition.
Like a Hoffman Home......you're right.
Hahah seriously
😂😂
Clever way of getting these guys to put up the dry wall in under an hour.
“Good show boys! We’re renting these office bays at $750 a month to local professionals. Pack your tools & grab a hot dog on your way out”👍
Exactly my thought… and they probably don’t even realise it.
When I get my house built I'm going to have framing olympics, sheet rocking olympics, roofing olympics, electrical and plumbing olympics too!
Lmao.
ahahah this comment wins
don't forget the cooking olympics lol
yes and you'll have the worst built house when it's all done
Hopefully doesn’t fall apart
It’s cool they did this in slow motion so the audience at home could follow along
Guy in maroon gets paid by the job while the guy in neon gets paid by the hour. 😂
Do they judge their screw patterns and depth of screws ?
Broken corners ??
Gaps between joints ??
Do they get extra points for covering electrical boxes?
My hands and mouth dried up watching this video. Kept seeing that pack of water on the ground like dannnng that looks good rn!
When you get pay by sheet and not hourly everyday is the Olympics
Talk about getting your offices lined for free😂
Afterwards the "judge" says, "winner is unclear, meet back tomorrow in the other room for a redo😂
Lol. They spent $1,500 on $5k worth of labor.
Now it’s time for Alejandro to start his own Olympics and collect sponsors, so he can test the supers on the job sites.

Some of them do! I worked with winner on the job site and was the one who invited him to this event and that is how he works day in and day out and he is union!
busted right lol
Is there a Special Olympics for drywall also? Or do they group them all together?
They are all grouped as special Olympics
They can have the next contest in my basement free of charge.
Hard hats say union guys to me, bring a Spanish dude that works on a crew doing 2 houses a day
Spanish are so over rated. Theres just more of them here, most of the time they're fat and lazy, blisters and screws poking out everywhere.

I new as soon as old buddy on the right went for a cut pice first. And finishing as he went.

@Nicball505 Yes, I'm glad you ask. Nightly, in every College dorm in America. 😆😆😆

Is this in the 80s cords on screew guns. Hand the ceiling know that would impress by yourself with 33 recessed lights
Where do I sign up?
Damn that guy with a black shirt and white stripe around his neck looks like me 😂😂 I had to rewind it and watch it again 😂😂
This is cool!! Can we get something like this in Texas?
Aquí el california somos más lentos 🤣

We not hanging the lid first?
How do I sign up for this??
I approached Tree work the same way, i likes to start with the most difficult Tree first so the ends was smooth sailing

What drills do they use
Now they just need to work like that on the job! Countless times I would be waiting for drywall to be installed.
Proud of the Mexican always working hard d👌🏽
Now THAT was astounding............
My thoughts and condolences are with the sap who had to stock them all with drywall the night before
That end cap on the far right , 1st piece hung is had to rotoziped on just parts
Nice.... now lets see you do that for 8 to 10 hrs a day/6 days a week
I know Alejandro can and does as he runs all over the job site, hanging and framing.
boss said you need to cut that time in half!
You guys, next competition is next month at my place. $1500 prize. Must bring your own drywall and screws. each man gets two rooms of the house.
That is great, hilarious. I thought every day was drywall Olympics at the job site.😂🎉😂
When I saw him start with cuts first I knew he was going to win

$1000 not bad for 39 minutes of work lol

Just like that they got these bots to drywall the new office building for free
Cowboys with nail bags and all the gear .sadly no idea . Hope there not on price

Looks fun
Thought best practice was horizontal mounting?…..
You don't hang horizontal in commercial.
Residential = horizontal
Commercial = vertical
standing the sheets not common takes longer to finish tape
Why not do these competitions in an actual home? A lot of homes could use it.
