My high school class graduated in 1963, the year this film portrays. It was our "Glory Days" and this movie is a gem really capturing a teenagers life at that time. The music, the documentary style of this movie is unique and never gets old. "Long live Rock "N Roll," to quote Chuck Berry's "School Days,"
This, for those of us that still have our faculties together (no liberals allowed) ALWAYS the BEST! You are even luckier than I was, you graduated first. Were you in Vietnam? Yes or no, I thank you for being there
IM 82 YRS OLD I LIVED IN THAT ERA AND THIS VERY MUCH THE WAY IT WAS. THE CARS THE DRIVE INS, I REMEMBER IT LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY, DAMN THOSE WERE SOME REAL KICK ASS TIMES, UH YAAA.
This is reality back in the early sixties, driving East 14 street , A&W 's just like in this flick, see all your friends ,just getting out of the drive-in-what a blast. At least we have those fond memories of a time that will never return but for just a few years it was the Best Of Times.Sorry for the 2000 crowd you will never enjoy anything like it!
Listen to the sound track all the time since I saw the movie when I was 10. First Album got as Xmas present still have it 48 yrs later then 8track in 1st car 66 389 Grand Prix then cd now iPod ( I know iPod is completely wrong format for this sound track ) 😂
From the moment that beautiful duece coupe came on the movie screen I WAS IN LOVE.Nothing says 60s and street rod and ultra cool like a duece coupe with the engine showing LOUD AND PROUD.
Seeing all the old cars reminds me of back when I used to work on car's truck's with my dad but I have to work on them by myself now I really would like to know the name of the movie
And where were YOU in '62? I was still a toddler then. Did my 'cruising' in the mid-70's. Loved every minute of it no matter what I was drivin' at the time!
I was 18 when this movie came out. Watched it at a drive-in in my 1964 Chevy Impala. After the movie, Main Street was insane. My town had 3000 people. Many nice cars. Was the best time of my life.
What a fantastic time be in school and dancing to the great music of the 50s and the 60s. there will NEVER BE ANOTHER TIME LIKE THAT THAT WE ENJOYED BACK THEN.
So true, those times are gone. But were they great. We settled feuds by street racing on back roads and when whoever won race everything was cool. Kids today are in serious trouble, they can't settle anything without violence. I wish we could go back. I reminisce about those days. We were all lucky to live through those days
Here in Chicago it was Skips Drive-in on North Ave. in Melrose Park. Those memories are seared in my brain. American Graffiti hit the nail right on the head. USA !!!
Can never get enough of the Classic American Graffiti. Relive the past every time I watch this flick. The era, the cars, the music. How can one ever tire of that? Keep on Hot Rodding!!
I was lucky enough to go to high school in a small town in the early 80s. It was like being transported back to the late 50s. We cruised “The Ave” every weekend, went to Arctic Circle, chased girls, waited outside the liquor store for someone who would buy us a bottle -- very good times I will remember forever!
Lord, I miss real Rock and Roll. Where did all this wonderful music go? I just come here and get back to the greatest music ever. Sure as hell isn't been any since 79.
Definitely an American classic.....I'm a little too young to have grown up in those times.....but definitely seen the movie a bunch of times.....👍👍...73 is my birth year
Best time in America period!! Unbelievable how things have to come to where they are now in 2020. Just to go back and live one week in that era would be priceless.
I was born in 1968 but was raised by a wonderful mother and I have tried to live my life by this era if you know what I mean and when I say era I mean the 50s will always be the best
Never will it be Like it Was during those years! I have Excellent memories growing up through the 60's and 70's, they Really were for me the Best of Times!
I love Steve McQueen!! The King of Cool!! He did some of the driving in Bullitt, until he missed his turn and had to back that mustang up and go at it again. That's when he about burned that right rear tire off of it. He was pissed off that he did that, but they kept it in the movie. After that happened he wasn't allowed to drive anymore. They were scared that he would hurt himself.
John Milner was my idol when my dad made me watch this back in 86. I was 6. I'm a chevy guy all day but that 32 deuce coup is one of my all time favorites. I love the movie. Any car guy or woman needs to watch this. Classic.
@@GlassTopRX7 ; In reality, 1962, Chevy didn't have a 427 and the deuce most likely had a flathead. When Graffiti came out in 1973, the 55 was running a 454.
@@cobracharmer6178 you’re correct about the 55. However, the 32 probably would not have had a flathead, as most guys switched over to the OHV engines by the mid fifties. The Chrysler Hemi came out in 1951, the Ford Y Block came out in 1954, and the Chevy 283 came out in 1955. And, there were also other OHV engine options such as Oldsmobile, Cadillac, etc. So, anyone who had an early Ford in the early sixties who wanted to go really fast, or to race, had already replaced their flatheads with an OHV engine long before 1962.
Great movie and great song! I've said it before and I will say it again "If you got to grow up in the 50's,60's,70's & 80's YOU were blessed to live in the golden decades, the world will never be the same again!!". Rock on!!!
I grew up in the 70's in those areas used for filming the movie. The early part in a high school was Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley. Many of the scenes were on 4th street, San Rafael & they used Petaluma. I lived in Sausalito. I went to Tam high with Kathleen Quinlan who was the lead on the drama team & the school negotiated that she would have to be in the movie for them to use the gymnasium. She had a crush on my older brother, Gary, but he wouldn't go out w/her because she was too short. I used to give him a hard time about that after she got that role that started her career in Hollywood, lol.

1963. The last year of American Rock And Roll before the British Invasion. Look how young this unknown cast was in '73, besides Ron Howard of course! I was 4 when this came out. THE best movie soundtrack ever.
American Rock n Roll didn’t disappear after the Brits came and joined in on RnR. I think in someways the British Invasion took away from the great RnR in United States. Been listening to the old Doo Wop songs of 50’s - 60’s lately.

Yes or no, I thank you for being there
Not that it really matters, as it’s the same era, but this film takes place in 1962.

Frank Welch 50s and 60s were the best it’s the way life should be
So true, those times are gone. But were they great. We settled feuds by street racing on back roads and when whoever won race everything was cool. Kids today are in serious trouble, they can't settle anything without violence. I wish we could go back. I reminisce about those days. We were all lucky to live through those days

Classic.
That 327 Chevy in that coupe was awesome.
Both the hero cars were powered by Chevy, like Old Man pointed out, , the Deuce has 327, the 55' had a L88 427.
I seen this movie at the theater with 3 of my friends, we were teenagers. It changed my life as I knew it.
