I had a physically abusive 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Lablue, would take me to the class bathroom and hit me on the shoulders and back with huge
wooden paddle. I was a well behaved student in her class. It did not occur to me that she was a racist as all get out at first ( only black child in class). I knew that teachers were not supposed to paddle that way. I could not tell my mama because of the threats the teacher made to cause problems for my mama, so I decided to handle it myself. One day, she decided to drag me back there, lost grip of the paddle in her hand and I grabbed it. I whacked her so hard on her shoulders and back, like she did to me, and asked her how she liked it, then ran out the room. She never touched me again, she never said a word about it and left me alone until I went to 4th grade. Some people do not need to be around children.

WOW and you were a 3rd grader and did that. Congrats to you. I remember I went to an all white private Lutheran school and I was the only African American girl in the 5th grade and we had a new principal (white) and I remember him catching me and my Hispanic friend doing something, but he slapped her into next week. He looked at me and raised his hand, and he knew by the expression on my face, that if he were to touch me, it was gonna be a fight. He put his hand down and walked away. I felt so bad for her that I didn't do anything. I told my mother about it and she said that if he ever touch me, let her know. My mom is a school teacher, well retired.

My wife had a similar incident back in the 1970s when the assistant principal bruised her lower and midback severely with a paddle and caused her kidneys to bleed .Her father saw it when she got home and the next morning he took her school .He asked for the principal and school nurse to be present when he asked the assistant principal about her paddling .Her parents had taken her to the ER that night also for her injuries and the bleeding and to file a police report .When the assistant arrived he swore he only paddled her backside .When shown the proof all the blood in his face disappeared .Her father said he wanted speak to him outside .He beat the hell out of him after the man swung at him .The man was screaming for someone to call the cops .Her father looked him straight in the eye and told him they were already here .When his other police officer buddies arrived her father cuffed and stuffed him in the back of the car himself .They added a few charges for assaulting a police officer also to the charges her father had filed against him .The arresting officer was her father .It was self defense on her father's part hedid swing at him in a threatening manner .

I experienced physical abuse at the hands of my first grade teacher. She picked me up and shook me like a rag doll, in front of the whole classroom, then, shoved me into a corner for most of the morning. The reason? I didn’t understand her assignment in class.
When I got home, my mom saw how traumatized I was and I told her what had occurred at school. My mom was a single parent and worked the graveyard shift at the cannery. When she got home the next morning, she gave me permission to stay home because she was going to “pay a visit to my school”. When I attend school the next day, my teacher was so nice.
A few months later, that teacher died from either a stroke or heart attack. My mom told me years later that she meet with the teacher and principal and warned them there would be consequences and repercussions if that teacher ever laid a hand on me. My momma was Louisiana Creole, she was tiny but mighty! RIP Momma 🕊️🌹. I miss you ❤️🥲.

Every single teacher KNOWS their out numbered big time and the students know that too its just that MOST students know this:
      (In their minds)
"I just have to last 45 minutes and I can freely avoid this teacher for the rest of today if I'm not feeling it, which I am not, so I will zone out probably Bob my head and hope for no homework and that I'm not called to answer any questions, just don't shut my eyes cause that will make it look obvious that I'm pretending to listen."

I am the most patient person in the world, but you could not pay me to teach these children now. The disrespect is ridiculous, and the teachers sarcasm doesn't help. I would never condone hitting anyone unless it's self defense, but still not beating a person bloody or to death. All in all, the school system needs to be updated on how they deal with children, and for parents to teach their kids not to bully teachers and other students. Never take one side over the other, until you get All the facts of an incident!!

When we moved to Virginia from California, I was shocked to discover that teachers beat children with rulers and yardsticks. I mean those hits were like they were preparing to fight with Ali. They beat children for things such as defending themselves on the playground, singing in the bathroom, talking in line, etc. Never did I see any students confronting teachers. Of course this was decades ago. I thought that was inappropriate behavior for teachers then, and I still think it is inappropriate. In addition, an elderly man from a rural county told us that some teachers would make students hold pieces of soap from a bar of soap in their mouths for long periods of time resulting in bubbles forming in their mouths. That is where we get the statement about washing your mouth out with soap. Some of those teachers did not belong in a classroom with anybody's children.nOf course they can't engage in those cruel acts now, but I must wonder what they do in the classrooms now.

Incidentally, the elderly gentleman who is now approaching 90 years said that boy's mother went to their school. Needless to say, that teacher never put soap in another student's mouth.

I remember when my son was in the fifth grade and a teacher (not his) put her hands on him in the cafeteria. There were witnesses and everything. So there was no denying what she did. Let's just say she learned to keep her hands to herself after that. Some of these teachers are doing too much. Which makes it harder for the good ones.

I found out the hard way not to take things into your own personal way to solve the problem with teachers, unless you want to spend time in jail for using your fists. Now I go right to the administration and get the teacher suspended for putting their hands on my son.

When l was in the 3rd grade my teacher pulled the chair from under me and l hit my neck on the edge of the desk, she thought she was going to get away with it however my brother who was in the 6th grade saw it he just happened to passing the room. I told my mother and when my brother told her what he saw my mother came up to the school , the principal begged her to let him handle it he was 5'7, my mother was 5'11 inches tall 6'1 with heels she was so angry her eyes were red. That priciple saved her that day.
