Question? Did all the soviet forces in Germany switch over to the Russian federation in 1992? Or did troops from the other republics go back home to form new armed forces?
The land force of GSFG had 5 Armies: 1st GTA, 2nd GTA, 3rd Army, 8th GA and 20th GA. 20th Guard Army, 8th Guard Army, 2nd Guard Army(which was 2nd GTA) and 1st Guard Tank Army of Russian Armoured Forces all have the background of GSFG. The 3rd Army was dismissed. 1st GTA was actually once dismissed, but was rebuild, as I know, only the 1st GTR of today’s 1st GTA was once one of the GSFG. But not all troops of GSFG belongs to Russia, for example the 11th Guard Tank Division (which quartered in Dresden, part of 1st Guard Tank Army) belongs to Belarus.
@@qiwubai3217 thank you for the comment. interesting! It’s funny you mention Belarus, 90 percent of their new army when the USSR collapsed were ethnic Russians and they would NOT sign an oath to the new state unless they got guarantees they would never be in conflict with Russia and have friendly relations. I feel bad for these guys their country collapsed while they were serving abroad.
@@Ktaurus26 a bit complicated. Actually many of the troops were once dismissed, including 8th GA. The strongest division - 10th GTD(who owned 364 T-80BVs in Cold War) was in Boguchar dismissed, Russians once considered to rebuild it again, but now theres no further information about it.
После развала СССР, все кто от куда призывался из солдат, туда и возвращался, а новые в основном призывались из России и не которых среднеазиатских республик бывшего СССР.
