Nordic folksong on nyckelharpa

- This is 3 verses from 'När som jag var på mitt adertonde år', a traditional Swedish folksong. I recorded it in my home 'studio' if you can call it that, its more like an empty room with instruments and 1 microphone. It rained all day today so I just stayed in and played nyckelharpa.
On my debut EP, I sang some verses from this song on the track 'Latvian Fegurð'
I know this song through the group Folk och rackare
Making us Scandinavians so proud, Myrkur! Thank you for keeping our Nordic sounds alive! ❤
Spiritual healing.. Currently in a stuffy atic room, Yet I can picture forrests streams and mountains... accompanied by the ancestors. even though im in the UK.
Voice hits me so hard, every single time I hear it. 🤘❤️
Ethereal and haunting. Just lovely.
Thank you all! The instrument is a nyckelharpa. The song is about a maiden who falls in love with a man who already loves someone else and decides to end her life to meet him in the afterlife instead. Rough English translation:
When I was in my eighteenth year
There was a beautiful boy who fell onto my mind
Thee,I thought,to own forever
But this my thought instantly vanished
There was another maiden in his embrace
He likens her to a blooming flower
All though I hold my father and mother so dear
And siblings and friends who loved me here
This love does go above anything else
@@myrkur aaw nice thx ❤️ even if it is contradictory, because ending one's life and believing one will go to the afterlife makes no sense, if then we talk (fantasizing) about Valhalla then I think it is possible.
yes I agree if you take your own life you go niflelheim, not valhalla!
@@napuluzzionothing contradictory about it, you just have to accept that different people in different times have had different ideas about what might happen after we die.
@@MichaelJohnson-kq7qg you don't go to heaven because "I had a different experience" you go to heaven because I did the will of my God in this case I believe in Jesus Christ, now your reasoning is for those who don't believe in anything, and let themselves be carried away by emotions, but remember that emotions lie, only God doesn't lie. sorry for the tradition I'm using the translator.
@@napuluzzio well that's a silly post, it's a traditional song that doesn't come from an author that believed the same mythology you do. That doesn't make it contradictory, which was what you claimed. It just makes you small-minded.
Beautiful. LOVE your voice. ❤ from the Netherlands
Your album folkensange was my 1st to listen in my search for Scandinavian songs
Wonderful work ❤
heavenly and grounded at the same time ❤
Très bel instrument ...
J adore...
Magnifique voix.
Bien à vous.
Pays : France
Du har en fantastisk stemme som passer perfekt til nyckelharpens mytiske og fortryllende lyd.
Magnifique chanson ! Listening to this makes me want to plug back my turntable and listen to my Folkesange vinyl (again and again) 🥰
Vackert!
Awesome!
hope to hear it in next album
Heaven's voice 😍❤
Very beautiful preformance 🖤
Me trae recuerdos mágicos

Wow
Diese Lady hats einfach Drauf. Schöne Folklore und Schöne Frau😊
Thanks.
💐❣️
What is the name of the painting behind you?
Strikkende Jente by Hans Dahl. I inherited from my grandmother and it is the cover of my album Folkesange!
🍀
beautiful melody.. but what does the song say?
I listen to your album Folkesange more than any other. Your voice is incredible, and you sing so beautifully. Thanks for sharing with us 🙏🩷
Hopefully this beautiful song will be on a Folkesange II. album. :)
Amalie, I hope you find Natural inspiration for the Part 2 of Folkesange !! You are very gifted, I wish there could be more artists like you !!
You play so beautifully. Your voice and the tone of your instrument are a perfect match ❤
Imagine entering the halls of Odin in Valhalla and this sound welcomes you. 😍
Lo before me I see a line of my People. going back to the beginning of time
they call me to take my place with them in the walls of Valhalla where the brave shall live forever.
Norse Death Prayer
Nordic people were already Christians when this instrument was invented...
@@Erc112 Ssshhh! You're spoiling their dreams!
@@Erc112 While that is true, it sounds very similar to the Viking bowed instrument, the 'tagelharpa'. So your critique is misplaced.
Lovely. I like you're amplified music too, but the folk songs speak to me.
so lovely ❤
(I just feel a little sorry for the christmastree skeleton in the back 😅)
My son won't let me throw it out so its been turned into an indoor decoration. We will see how long it lasts
@@myrkur ok, valid reason ;) after all he is a roommate that doesn't drink your beer and talks too much
I am continually impressed by Your vocals and instrumentalism but well ... that is the sadest pine tree i ever seen :)
I'm the Danish grinch
Nyckelharpa is such a beautiful instrument both in sound and looks. I'm blessed to know someone who plays it and is willing to record a song with me
very nice, I`d love to hear another album like Folkesange
A voice of tranquility in an uncertain World. Thank you Myrkur... from Cape Town South 🌹✌️🇿🇦😊

Absolutely beautiful. As captivating as it is haunting.
Love your music. Thanks for all the years of enjoyment.
You have brought me out of the deception and into the truth of the earth and the cosmos. Your voice alone has this power. THE power of truth. You wont know that Im there but I will be standing in the crowd in Atlanta on October 25 at the Eastern and I will send up all of the energy I can muster while I experience your incredible gift. Thank you. Thank you.
I am of Nordic descent. This music touches the deepest place within my
soul 🦋and spirit 🕊️
Had to look something important up on youtube, saw this, dropped everything to watch it all the way through. Now I forgot what I logged onto youtube for.
That sounds too relatable.
We're screwed😂
Don't get me wrong, this is beautiful!
But today we're all way too easily distracted
It's probably not that important. The phrase "emergency reactor shutdown codes" doesn't sound familiar to you, does it?
WOW ! beautiful song and beautiful voice 😊❤❤
This made my day! Thank you Amalie ❤
What an incredible sound
Beautiful
Jeg tror jeg er forelsket i en lille sangfugl fra Vikingernes tid. Sikke en hjerteknuser 💔
Is your nyckelharpa built to be left handed!?!? Or maybe the video image is just reversed? Excellent singing, thank you Myrkur!
Jeg behøver en "Folkesange vol. 2"
Me too !
No soy Nórdico,ni inglés;Pero es fascinante está melodía!!!
Beautiful! 👌
A voice of tranquility in an uncertain World. Thank you Myrkur... from Cape Town South 🌹✌️🇿🇦😊
ManifiK✨✨🙏🏼✨✨

BEAUTIFUL ! ❤😊❤
To me, Amalie personifies absolutely pure beauty... What else can I say ? I become speechless...
Your album Folkesangue is one of the most calming and inspiring albums I've ever listened
Вы прекрасны, как и ваш голос и ваша музыка! Привет от любителя народной скандинавской музыки из России❤❤
It is like going back a Century
Go hiontach ar fad, ceol uaigneach.
that's a cool instrument, love the folkesange painting in the background too
Can't hear enough music like this, you're a rare jewel.
Hauntingly beautiful! This definitely stirred some ancient remembrance in my DNA. Thank you!🙏🏻
I think it would be amazing ifyou did a collaboration with wardruna greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱🇩🇰🤘
Beautiful song :) Just wish the whole abandoned military camp performance was available to buy or watch somehow…
A voice of tranquility in an uncertain World. Thank you Myrkur... from Cape Town South 🌹✌️🇿🇦
Хочется взять топор,рюкзак,мотоцикл и уехать в Карелию
Absolutely beautiful and transcending
that was a treat thank you...
❤🤘
🖤🖤🖤
So good !
Beautiful woman and 😍🥰 Just curious, what is the name of that musical instrument?
Kisses and hugs from Spain.
Its called a nyckelharpa (keyharp) :)
@myrkur Thanks, I didn't know that, it's usually a rare instrument to see.
Beautiful!
Amazing ❤
Maravilhosa
Could someone explain the opening band for the tour. It scares me. I was going to get ticket. Love Myrkur just not so sure about the king guy.
🖤🤘🏻🔥
🐉🤍🦄
I'm blown away. Never expected something so delicate and moving. You grabbed my heart and moved it into another realm. Or something like that. ❤ Now, can i have it back please? 😂😅
This embodies ethereal beauty. It's like walking through a wild and mystic landscape listening to your voice and music!!
Simply wonderful! Myrkur, you are such a talented artist!! Love all your works!! 🙏🏻🌹❤️🎶✨
How do you feel bringing your ancestral songs to new lands?
Beauteful music and song.
I love this, reminds me of the vikings program
This is phenomenal! It sounds like it was produced in a studio. I can't believe it's just a solo voice and a single instrument. This recording could be used on a soundtrack as is with no mixing or additional polish needed.
That haunting melody makes me feel like I was born in the wrong place and time, and your beauty will forever now haunt my dreams 💘
Folksange and all your folk songs are medicine for the soul.
The Celtic vibes though. Can a professional help out?
A beautiful tune, beautifully sang 👏
What does the title of the tune mean in English please?
Is this on Spotify yet? I want to put it in my playlist filled with mostly you and Enya.
Absolutely beautiful 💫🧎♀️➡️🫴💥
Voice as strong and beautiful as ever
Well this made my morning awesome
Never seen an instrument like that, and you know how to play it!
Everything used to be so simple. We have let them ruin our world.
I cannot wait to see u in Cleveland w King Diamond!!!
beautiful melody.. but what does the song say?
