    The Getz is a fine motor car, sensibly priced when new and held up well in terms of reliability and motoring costs. Sure it might not be the most exciting car and I can't imagine these will gain a cult following. But for the average motorist it's as good as any other rival from that class at the time. Another excellent review sir.

      Thank you sir! Yes, indeed, sensibly priced when new and sensibly priced now. This is a pretty good example, actually! Even within enthusiasts of older Korean cars, I don't think there is much of a following yet, but there could be in a few years. I wasn't really able to work up much excitement about it, but then that's not really surprising!

    My name is Dirk from Richards Bay South Africa and i'm a proud owner of the 2006 HYUNDAI GETZ 1.4 HS ( High Spec ) facelift and they are rather reliable l'll units... But, if you live within a coastal region please do regular rust checks especially on your suspension area in particularly the crossmembers ( front and rear ) and lower control arms...
    The door handles on the inside are also keen to break in time...
    At around or between 130000-150000kms you could expect the valve cover gasket and plug tubes to go and with it the engine mountings and water pump ...

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, this car lives in a coastal area too, and these are definitely starting to get scrapped now, both for rust underneath, and for rust on the bodies. Thank you very much indeed once again for watching, all the more reason to change the cambelt and water pump at the right intervals. Oil leaking from the cam cover gasket is very common on a lot of older cars.

    I like this model!
    Remote control mirrors and air conditioning, electric front windows, and other equipment standard, which other manufacturers charge extra or unavailable in its price class. That is where Hyundai shines!
    Great rear visibility, that I like, very important !
    I believe we still have the Accent, and definitely the Elantra, for sale here in the US, one of the few manufacturers that still offers CARS.
    Thank you very much for the review Joseph!

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting 2 года назад +1

      Yes, we haven't had the Elantra and the Accent in this country since 2007, although we do have similar models on sale which used to even share platforms with them. The Getz was the second cheapest Hyundai on sale in Britain at the time, and they did put a lot more equipment into them than the equivalent base models from Vauxhall, Volkswagen or Kia. The CDX models are a bit nicer than this. You are right, Hyundai offer SUVs, but they still sell cars over here too, such as the I10, i120 and i30.

    Strangely I saw a 3door Getz this morning. The side view reminded my of my two Peugeot 205s.
    From behind and in front the Peugeot 205 looked Sleek and swoopy but from the side it was easy to see how tall the glasshouse was compared to the overall design of the car.
    This seems to be a trait of the Hyundai Getz also, ensuring excellent interior headroom. Of course by this stage Hyundais were well built ultra reliable cars and SUVs.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting 2 года назад +2

      Yes, they were very reliable for the era if properly serviced. They actually seem to have increased in value a bit recently! The headroom is very good for a car of this type. It's not the most inspiring car, but people seem to have quite liked them at the time.

    As an owner of a 2004 cdx model 1.3 I agree and disagree with some of this! I paid over £1000 but it had low miles fresh mot not a spec of rust and interior was like new. This car is great for long journeys! The electric sun roof is brilliant it’s all electric inside unlike most “cheaper” cars 3 children fit in the back comfortably and safely overall it’s a great car!

      Prices of these have actually risen a bit recently, probably due to the crazy secondhand car prices in general, but they were a good option five years ago when I sourced one for someone on a limited budget, and they still are, to be honest. I would sooner have a nice CDX than a Polo of the same era, for example. The ride is remarkably smooth and comfortable as well. Glad to hear that yours is such a superb example!

    I know, I know. You don't do diesels. But don't rule them out. 87 hp, 159 torques and a chain cam 16v dohc engine gave surprisingly spritely performance. My 57 plate was a cracking, solid big little car, if a little OAP in its looks. Huge boot too.
