@@SamsTrains I would be really interested in seeing Bachman make a model of diesel 10, I think it would be interesting and they would sell a lot since he is a popular character… Or was since the direction Mattel is taking Thomas and friends I don’t think will ever see him again
I know! They could do - and I think they would if they were Hornby - but Bachmann like to do Thomas characters from scratch! ;D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Cool model! It's a good thing two of these are preserved! I found out in real life, Diesel 10's claw is an illegal modification! It also makes him too tall for the British loading gauge!
Had a western in this colour , lovely smooth runner You got a great bargain with this but the detail is superb and even at around £100 it would be money well spend
Wow! That is a nice warship! Also, I figured out what to do with the Spencer model. I took it apart and modified the wheels from a pacific to an Atlantic. Thinking of making a grey LNER C1 shell for the chassis.
Diesel 10! Sam, can you please pray for me, I sliced my hand open with an Xacto knife and had to get 19 stiches. Loved the video as always! Cheers, Tyson :)
I have my own custom wooden railway diesel 10, I basically built a wooden VR class 42 and then used Legos to make the claw, I was honestly surprised when I figured out that diesel 10 was a rogue passenger locomotive, and I’d love to see black men or any company make a model of him, I believe it would be very popular.
Hi Sam. Another amazing video, that warship is quite a stunning desiel, real-life and in model form. Will you be doing an update on your wall of fame soon?
Thanks a lot Nathan - really glad you liked her! Yes I'll do my best to show the wall again at some point in the future!! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Great review Sam. I absolutely love this machine....I have the D801 'Vanguard'...It runs like a dream... never had a problem...and, as you say, it weighs a ton...lol.
It's perfectly fine if you're not a Railway Series or Thomas the Tank Engine fan, just a little joke but I would love if you turned one of these warships into Diesel 10 AKA D10 from Thomas. D10 has only 1 pair of the middle vents but I'd prefer if you kept both pairs of vents, again, I'm not forcing you to, just do what you love and be awesome 😉 (Oh, and while many HO users have made a D10, I'd like to see one made by you, again, I'm not demanding, it's perfectly fine if you can't 😀
Hello Sam, Would you happen to know any good places I could buy a oo gauge Warship model?? Ive looked on Hornby, and they don't sell em there :/ Thanks man, love your videos! EDIT: i bought a Warship and I love it!! It's a little wonky in the front bogie, but it runs excellent. All the way from England to here in the Pacific Northwest
It seems to just be the Bachmann available at the moment: railsofsheffield.com/products/37762/graham-farish-371-606-n-gauge-class-42-warship-d820-grenville-br-green-late-crest- Hornby do have a Railroad version, so you may be able to find that if you search around! :D Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great video Sam , I’ve got two Bachmann Warships and they run beautifully, I also have two mainline Warships although they look good the motors are something else . But best of all I have a Roco V 200 which just stunning , it weighs more twice that of the Bachmann , I think I paid about £50 for at train fair in the summer , so worth looking out for . David
haha thanks mate - yes those mainline motor bogies are certainly not my favourites, lol! But even £50 for these is a massive bargain, for what you get! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
What's the difference between a piano, tuna and glue You can tuna piano But you can't piano a tuna "What about the glue" Ohh I knew you would get stuck there
Hi Sam was thinking if the Bachmann warship has the same tooling and mounting points as the old mainline body you have off your old warship that blow up. Couldn’t you get a seconded hand Bachmann chassis fit it and get that one up and running too.
Hi Ian, I think Bachmann must have adapted the body to take their new chassis - because they're not mounted in the same way any more, but it's an interesting thought - I might look and see if there's a way to modify it to make that work! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)

Sam'sTrains yeah, it was a tender driven, my first actually. What is your opinion on tender driven locos? And that was an insanely good price for a warship, the ones I've seen in the closest model railway shop go above $250 AU.
Hi Sam, the headcode is not IV it is actually 1V87 (1=Express train V= a train ending on the Western Region & 87 is the train number) We still use the exact same principle today
Hi Sam, I don't know if you read comments on these older videos but have just seen all three of your Warship videos and a small error was made in all of them. The wheel arrangement is not Bo-Bo but B-B as the drive axles on each bogie are not independently driven but linked with a shaft. I know you are not a diesel enthusiast so I hope this is informative, don't feel bad as Hornby also got it wrong on their paperwork by the looks of it. Applies to Westerns, Hymeks and 22's as well.
There is a small difference in the bodies. If you look at the tumblehome there is another smaller square grille above the BR logo on the green body which is lacking on the maroon. That said, mould-wise speaking I'd imagine it'd be easier to remove an erroneous grille than put one back in?
Ooh yeah very well spotted! Yes that's happened in the past - minor changes seem to be possible to make - I think the two are too similar to have been designed separately though :3 Thanks for watching, Sam :)
might of been ex display stock, i know at north norfolk railway there was an old building on the platform that was like a hobby shop that had loads of stuff in it (took a picture on an old camera still got it but it just shows dark with the outline of some trains/truck/coaches) and that has gone, so maybe they had the same i've no idea if on the 2nd stop (were the engine shed is) if the trucks with the model railway are still there
Dear Sam, have you ever taken interest in the Bachmann Branchline Tornado? I would love to see you do that one. It’s extremely detailed. Regards, Chase :)
A great video. Yeah definitely looks like the Mainline body tooling. Not up to today's standards (with moulded roof fans/grills and a lot of moulded detail on the bogies) but very good for its time. I definitely prefer the maroon livery - dark green was overused by BR and was a very bland colour scheme.
Thanks very much! I agree - I think it has to be the Mainline tooling! I was still quite happy with this then - and I love the maroon livey too! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)

You say £30 is a bargin eh? Well... I can honestly say the MOST I've spent on a S/H loco (And I've bought about 13 this year, if not more!) is £50, and that was for a beautifully built kitbuilt loco. Most of my S/H RTR purchases have been £40, (A few fairly-new Bacchy Bits) and the rest (about 2/3 to 3/4) have been under £30, the two cheapest being £2 each (running - a Hornby 0-4-0ST and a Playcraft Class 21.) There have even been a few freebie locos, but being a member of a club helps with that. A NEW Hornby Bulleid for £40 and a new terrier for £10 (From the Bluebell, Ltd Edition too!) have got to be some of the highlights!
haha blimey - you have done well then! I still think £30 is a good price for a loco as nice as this - I'm 95% sure you'd never find one in such good condition for any less than that, hehe! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Again a great review. But I like more the Class 42 Warship by Hornby. Have the maroon Thruster, and two green, the Benbow (you have them too) and the Formidable.
Probably late in the day! Just a note about head codes as your knowledge seems to be wrong. The 4 digit head code system on the front of locos dates to the 1960's. The meaning of the digits are from left to right- 1st digit is numeric and indicates type of train 1=express passenger. 2nd digit is alpha character indicating destinations for the operating region. The V on the WR = inter regional train. Digits 3 and 4 are numeric indicating the train being hauled place in the day's timetable. For all regions the letter "A" is usually the London terminus.
Trouble with drivers is that when the loco is running backwards the drivers are at the wrong end. So what is best, driver or no driver? Crafty when the loco started towards the coupling up the drivers were facing the coaches but when the coupling finished the drivers were at the other end. You TURNED the loco round. CRAFTY
Hmmm, I think Hornby Railroad has more choice and they're more established - Oxford Rail are great too, but I do love Railroad stuff more I think :3 Thanks for watching, Sam :)

Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I can't say I recall you ever doing a review on that railcar. Have you ever done one?
Hi Alex - no not yet, I've not had that one for long, but I want to review it at some point! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Brilliant as always!
Thanks very much! :D
I’m thinking of buying one in n gauge , what livery should I get
Maroon or green
Ooh nice! That has to be your choice though - which do you prefer?? :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
I’m not sure I like them both, what would you say Sam ?
You can really tell that its based on the DB V200, although i have to say i prefer the V200 from looks.
Merry Christmas sam. How are you doing
Thanks Shawn, same to you mate! I'm great thanks - how are you?? :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Sam'sTrains I’m doing well. I recently acquired a new locomotive that I will be showing soon. I’m happy to have it.
Probably late in the day! Just a note about head codes as your knowledge seems to be wrong. The 4 digit head code system on the front of locos dates to the 1960's. The meaning of the digits are from left to right-
1st digit is numeric and indicates type of train 1=express passenger. 2nd digit is alpha character indicating destinations for the operating region. The V on the WR = inter regional train. Digits 3 and 4 are numeric indicating the train being hauled place in the day's timetable. For all regions the letter "A" is usually the London terminus.
Duly noted Pat, many thanks for the info on this!
Merry Christmas - Sam :)
Terrific name for such a cute locomotive with a baby face xD
haha thanks - I agree with you! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Can he put a hydraulic hook on its roof so it can look like Diesel 10?,
That way we all know That Diesel 10 isn't the only diesel that
has a hook
I prefer the maroon livery
I do too Noah - very nice that one! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Trouble with drivers is that when the loco is running backwards the drivers are at the wrong end. So what is best, driver or no driver? Crafty when the loco started towards the coupling up the drivers were facing the coaches but when the coupling finished the drivers were at the other end. You TURNED the loco round. CRAFTY
I wish more manufacturers would make the 52. I mean I like the warship class but I love the Western...
Yeah I know - I'd love a modern Western too!! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
also do you like a certain type of coach
Hmmm, yeah I love Pullmans and the Excalibur ones! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
D - diesel 10's back!
haha yeah he's back ;D
Just ad a yellow with white stripes, then ad a claw on the roof. ;)
haha absolutely - I'm sure someone will have done that ;D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
Lights not mentioned. Presumably as an older model it had no lights which today we would expect.
Hi Alan - yes no lights with this version sadly, though later ones did of course!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Nice loco I have the mainline one in BR blue with yellow ends
Thanks David - ooh superb, I bet these are lovely in blue! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
which do you prefer- Hornby Railroad or Oxford Rail? I would say railroad because I don't have any Oxford rail locos lolololol :D
railroad Oxford make smart looking loco's but the motor's are not the best
Hmmm, I think Hornby Railroad has more choice and they're more established - Oxford Rail are great too, but I do love Railroad stuff more I think :3
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
How many comments involving Diesel 10 do you get with videos including the Warship
And my favorite livery has to be the maroon one
haha - very many ;D
That's good to hear - I love the Maroon too! :D
Thanks for watching,
Sam :)
