Love the Chinese story. In Singapore I asked a couple of gals giggling, in a hair salon, what made them think I didn’t understand what they were saying. For their mannerisms it was clear it was a bit about tourists, but I was an expat. They never did it again!
I live in Montreal Quebec, I always say that being bilingual means being able to tell people to F-off in their own language.
The other way to handle the last story (if he didn't have Dan) would be to just agree "Sure, fine" and once the left just go home. If they go to the hotel desk looking for the keys, there are no keys, and he is gone. I'd feek sorry for the folks at the hotel desk though.
In the last segment, where does Karen come off thinking she and her husband would have the right to drive someone else's SUV even if OP wasn't its owner? Where did she get the idea that the price they paid OP included rental rights?
I love to know if that fixed that little red wagon on that partying neighbors.

How would that Karen’s idea in the last story even work.
Even if it is the company’s car and not OP’s, they still hired OP for a tour, they got the tour and not their agreement is over… why would they get to keep the car?

Not a language one, but when I was a kid, the TV show Kung Fu was on and popular. From watching the show, I knew how to do one kick that he always did, don't remember now what it was.
One day, I had someone wanting to fight me. I did that kick. They immediately said, no fair, you know karate and walked off.

First story :If I owned a company I'd fire every person whom even acts such a way to homeless others it doesn't matter so hard that they'll never get a job again in whatever industry because they'll be black listed to oblivion
In all my years on the labor force (about 40 years now) I never had a boss like Dan. Too bad for me.

Concerning the last story.
What is the mechanism in these type people's brains that convinces them that no one can own nice things, like vehicles, homes, businesses and anything nice/pricey. Are they convinced that anyone who actually works is so poor that they should live in 30 year old trailers and only drive beater rust buckets that breakdown 2 or 3 times a week?
And at the same time believe the only way to get anyone to do anything for her is to scream, at them and question your life choices.

The chinese story... I can relate to that.
I had an Arab gentleman come to my store one day (lucky enough these days to own my own place) and start demanding a refund on an item we don't sell - I run a small supermarket/grocer and he was trying to return a power drill because the place used to sell DIY tools. After being insulted in broken English for several minutes, I replied "Allah Yakhthek" and "Kol Khara" which was basically telling him to drop dead and eat shit in Arabic - my wife can be very handy for learning new curses!

Something I picked up from Chinese movies. Someone may verify it , but with an open hand gesture to an entrance or a chair say “chin”. I believe it means “please”.
From my little interactions with Chinese people, they always seem very surprised that you can speak their language. I am participating to some performances for Chinese New Year. Of course we have a large audience of Chinese spectators. I have learned how to say "Happy New Year" in Mandarin (that is all I can remember from my 10 yours of introduction to the language). Every time I wish Happy New Year in Mandarin, I am faced with a barrage of replies that I cannot understand. because I can say one sentence does not mean I speak the language.

And Serbian once: The phrase is a casual expression that means roughly the same as the English expression "piece of cake", however it is literally a two word expression referring to smoke coming from a specific part of female anatomy. A crude expression.

i guessed op in lasts story was in oil industry, i know of some people that work in simular industries here in my country and they have 2-4 weeks at work then 2-4 weeks where they are home. its a good enrangment considering how hard it can be atleast if working on oil platforms in the north sea (yea im from norway) its also a dangerous job so but it would defenity be a good paying one.
That first one sucked but the last one was funny.
