Nice reaction. They asked Moa if she wanted to play the guitar at the start, but she said she would be too nervous to play it. Moa does know how to play the guitar but has admitted that she doesn't practice as much as she should. Leading up to the tour for the Metal Galaxy album Moa said she focused on her dancing. Without Yui to lead her and she was going to have to lead the avenger dancers for the tour Moa stepped up her game. As great as this performance was there was only one avenger at the time who could perform this with them. Su's old friend from ASH. Riho being about the same age as Su and a ton of experience dancing. Riho does a great job matching Su and Moa when they performed this together. But this Duo performance is breath taking. Moa's dance her was her best work at the time. Su delivers a great vocal performance as always. When they walk off the stage together the emotion of the song really hits. They've never ended a song not on the stage before that. And now comes Arkadia. Should have been used for the Olympics. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.
I agree completely, I get choked up every time I watch it. Even though I know the Trilogy of Light was not done specifically done to commemorate Mikio Fujioka, it sure fits in the situation.
Great reaction and thanks for watching the Legend M performance, this one really was special. Taking the context of the Trilogy of Lights as representing the stages of mourning we go through following the loss of somebody close: 'Starlight' is about the initial shock and grief. 'Shine' is about acceptance and coming to terms with the loss. This particular performance is extra special - just Su, Moa and a guitar on stage, Su's vocals simply soaring and Moa's choreo is incredibly moving and emotional. So did their use of the guitar and how it was a focal point of the performance pay homage to Mikio Fujioka (RIP) ... we can't say that for sure, but it is hard not to read something into it. With the premise of 'Shine' being about coming to terms with and accepting such a loss even the way they turn away and walk off stage, leaving the guitar, seems to symbolise that is what they are doing. I'm looking forward to what you make of 'Arkadia' next. It is about moving on, never forgetting but looking to the future and better times to come.
Awesome! I absolutely love this version of Shine (I believe it's the live debut as well?). In my personal opinion, this was a bit of a tribute to Mikio, especially if you combine the guitar centerpiece, their choreography (which I feel is Babymetal portraying yearning / missing the "guitar"), and some of the lyrics such as "shining in my heart, shining in y our heart, shining forever", followed by them walking off stage leaving the guitar. To me, it's saying that despite the sadness, everything needs to move on, but they will forever remember the "miracle" that is Mikio. Of course, that is all just my personal interpretation. Epic song and performance nonetheless! Oh, the ending ambiance you hear leads directly into the next song, Arkadia (which starts off the same). Actually, all 3 songs at the Legend Metal Galaxy concert were played back to back, and all were connected by that "spacey/void-y" humming ambiance. 🤘🦊
One more reason why many of us think it is a tribute to Mikio is because he had an acoustic guitar just like the one Moa plays. We don't know if it is exactly Mikio's or one of the same model and color
3:08 Reaction start Cool you're following this special set with this unique version of the second part of the Trilogy Of Lights.🦊🤘🔥 Our princess of Nagoya can play the guitar for sure, in this occasion looks like she did play but for some reason the sound didn't come out from the speakers. SuMetal also "played" the piano at Budokan 2021. She dance gracefully in this and she can take your breath away. The two of them are the spotlight because this is so intimate and after Legend S 2017 they didn't performed as a duo and this was the only time they performed this together with no backup dancer around, all the other versions are with the full trio. For me this song talks about the two of them finding each other after such an odd times and MoaMetal is that shining light on the road, the light at the end of the tunnel SuMetal needed to keep travelling her road, now boundlessly together. Some fans think this is like a tribute from Moa to Mikio (our beloved Kami guitarist who sadly passed away) showing him how she became a young adult, not only beautiful but also skilled. She learned some lesson guitar from him while being on tour. Btw this version is also special because it was recorded at BabyMetal Arises: Beyond The Moon - Legend M 2019 MoaMetal 20th Birthday in Nagoya , MoaMetal's birthtown, more cool things happened there.❤ They recently finished the Europe & UK Tour and everyone was having a blast with the live concerts and more is coming next year. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time with Arkadia.🦊🤘🔥
⚡ 💕 / 🌟 ✨ There was no need for everyone in the audience to get their phones out. They were all given gauntlets when they entered the venue that had a built in light that could be remotely activated. This special version of 'Shine' with just Su-metal and Moametal onstage was exclusively for the two 'BABYMETAL ARISES - BEYOND THE MOON - LEGEND - M -' concerts celebrating Moa's 20th birthday in July 2019. That guitar was either one that belonged to Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP), or at least the same model as one of his acoustic guitars.
Great reaction, thanks! "Shine" is indeed the second part of the Trilogy of Lights. And this one is about the central stages of grief: bargaining and depression also known as the inflection point. I consider it one of their best songs overall and one of Su-metal's finest works as a vocalist. 🤘🦊
this song always hits me in the feels and helps me overcome the loss of someone close, BABYMETAL never writes a song that is just about one thing, they purposely craft their songs to be interpreted by the listener by how it makes them feel, Su and Moa have both said that the trilogy of lights is a capsulation of the year they had in 2018, dealing with loss and separation and looking towards the future and they also said that despite not physically touching each other during this song that in their hearts they were holding hands and walking together into the future. now that is beautiful.
To me, the whole trilogy is a tribute to late Mikio (RIP) and at the same a tribute to life! (that's Mikio's guitar that Moa is using or at least the same model of one of his acoustic guitars).
Godd react again guys for a great song and performance. MOA is perfect! No more words. You need watch, MOAbanger (headbanger) live. See you Kitsuenes. 🤟 🦊🔥🔥🔥🇯🇵
I regard this as probably the single best live performance they have ever done. It's such an intimate and personal performance with just Su and Moa on stage with Mikio's guitar, paying tribute to the friends lost along the way. Moa does actually play guitar a bit, but has admitted that she doesn't practice enough.
It is not his guitar, it's a good match to it but it's not his guitar. This is the closest BM ever gets to honoring him, and it has nothing at all to deal with Starlight as officially and unofficially no part of the Trilogy is a dedication to anyone. Shine during Legend M is all we have to something to them giving him a nod but nothing more and still just a theory not official.
@@MyselfePedro56709 but it was never said it was his, the entire rig they used on the guitar would of damaged it. Ohmura might of gotten it but that doesn't mean they drilled and clamped it to a stand like that.
@@sumoa1010 So you were wrong not his try not to claim it was next time. It has nothing to do with Starlight and was just a one time tip of the hat to possibly honor Mikio however, this doesn't make any of the songs in the Trilogy a dedication to anyone.
Thank you for doing Legend M version the One are not usely wrong in their suggestions. The powerful emotions in this from Su and Moa you could feel in the vocals and the courography . This was performed on Moa's 20th show and in her hometown making it even more special surrgest same show for Arkidia ❤😁 🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼forget to mention the lights held up where gauntlets handed out as part of admission with a light that lit up at certain parts during show 👍
she actually plays the guitar and the sound engineer crew records and loops the audio perhaps with a loop station. This is the best version of Shine's song, only the lights are too bright and flashy so it slightly blocks our view from seeing them singing and dancing. Luckily, when MOA returned to play their aquatic show, the lights were off so we could see the show. and came back on when she stopped playing his guitar.
IMHO still their best single performance of any of their songs ever. The connection between Su and Moa is tangible. They have both spoken subsequently about how important it was for them. Beautiful song perfectly performed. 🦊🦊❤️❤️
This is in my top 3. The emotions just flood out when I hear this version. The guitars are absolutely brilliant. Much MUCH better than the studio version.
The Most perfect performance of Shine, EVER. Tonygriffin couldn't have said it better with his comment. Su sounded so beautiful and Moa's dancing was so graceful and it felt emotional. 🤘🦊🤘
The sheer power of the video is so obvious to see and the emotion of Su and Moa's faces are very plain to see. From the standpoint of poignancy and emotion, nothing that they have done tops this. And I have read where that guitar Moa was strumming was one of Mikio's acoustic guitars. Whether or not that is true, it sure does seem to fit in perfectly.
Great reaction. Not sure if anyone have suggested it, but if you haven't already recorded the Arkadia reaction I would suggest this (Legend M) version of it. Also if you haven't already done a reaction to it, Headbanger from the same show is a real treat as it is a quite special version😁
Moa does play guitar she says she isn't very good and doesn't practice enough but she does play. Now is she playing here? I am kind of 80-20 that she isn't but I don't play so what do I know.
Western Kami band are good in their own right. But my god, the Japanese guys's playing just hits different on the eardrums. Just listen to the smoothness and precision of Leda's lead.
👍 👍 My favorite Babymetal song. I love this particular performance just featuring Suzuka and Moa. Ok I am going into rumors and speculation here (related from past commenters but Amuse and Koba keep everything so tightly wrapped that nothing certain is known) Was Moa actually playing? No. However it is believed that she recorded the acoustic part - she can play guitar -and it was played back during the performance). Why? Well it has been said that the guitar represented Mikio and she wanted the performance to go perfect and she was nervous about actually playing it LIVE. Once again unsure. Why was it just Suzuka and Moa? Again speculation that this was also a tribute to Yui (kind of like the missing jet and pilot in a flyover at a memorial). All rumor and speculation but it makes sense. Until next time.
Is Moa playing? Before joining BabyMetal Moa played guitar a lot and had a little band with friends. In early backstage videos you can see her practicing however she is NOT playing here. In an interview she was asked if she is playing and she said that they asked if she would like to play live and she said that as she has not been able to keep up with her practice she thought it best to us a backing track. Now for the performance of Breaking the Law, the Judas Priest classic with Rob Halford their lead singer she did play and really got into it. And yes, think about that for a minute, they performed Breaking The Law with Rob Halford

Great reaction to a great song. Babymetal somehow manages to convey a positive message despite the sadness of the topic.
