I really appreciate your honest reaction to Tom's music. I don't think I have ever seen a reaction that dares to criticize some of his lyrics, and I find it disingenuous sometimes. I haven't heard all of his stuff, but it seems like he is under the impression that there is a culture of hating white people for being white, and he is trying to equate that with racism against black people. And I am pretty sure that he is not a fan of snowflakes or cancel culture, so I am sure he'd be open to having rational conversation about any criticism of his word choices, right? He is 100% independent, never was and never will be signed to a label. He writes his lyrics, makes his beats, builds the sets. His girlfriend, Nova, who was signed to DefJam at one point, shoots/directs/edits his videos. Everything is in house.
In my opinion, I don't think either of you really listened to the lyrics for this. Nothing in this warranted laughter. Both of you got hung up on a part of the song and just stopped listening to the lyrics. Every video he has ever made has a message, some is satire, comedy, personal, political... you cannot put him in a box. He is a true artist.

The song CLEARLY went over their head. Which is okay, Im not attacking them over it. This video was just kinda pointless because they clearly were only listening at it on the surface level. The woman got mad at the idea he suggested "white eyes" without actually even listening to what he said. "Dont tell me what I see with my white eyes" doesnt mean what you see with your eyes doesnt matter or "just deal with it" it means dont assume what I "see"(think) and label me based on what you assumed based on my appearance.

I really appreciate your honest reaction to Tom's music. I don't think I have ever seen a reaction that dares to criticize some of his lyrics, and I find it disingenuous sometimes. I haven't heard all of his stuff, but it seems like he is under the impression that there is a culture of hating white people for being white, and he is trying to equate that with racism against black people. And I am pretty sure that he is not a fan of snowflakes or cancel culture, so I am sure he'd be open to having rational conversation about any criticism of his word choices, right? He is talented, and deserves props for staying independent and growing such a huge fanbase. I would love to see more positive, or at least constructive messaging in the future, but division sells.
