Hi!
In this video I explain you why and how I installed the SuperJX Flash Module for the Roland MKS-70/JX-10.
Also I will show you my selfmade templates for the BCR-2000 to control parameters of the MKS-70.
The SuperJX Flash Module 3.x from Vecoven.com gives the possibility to control sysex and NRPN information.
In other words: You can adjust in realtime with external equipment the synthesizer of the MKS-70/JX-10.
For more info and to buy that chip, go to:
www.vecoven.com
With BC Manager for Mountainutilities you can program your Behringer BCR-2000 in an 'easy' way. You get control over the buttons and encoders and you can write CC, NRPN or Sysex-codes.
For more info go to:
www.mountainut...
It's a free program but a donation is highly appreciated.
I've created 3 templates + printable layouts for the BCR-2000.
You can download these files from my website:
themidimaniac....
Thanks for watching/subscribing and feel free to ask questions.
Grtzzz,
Roger, TMM

Just ordered the Vecoven ROM for my newly acquired MKS-70, thanks for taking the time to do this 👍.
Congrats on your MKS-70 and the soon to receive Vecoven ROM. It’s a great upgrade for this old synth. Enjoy!
Wow you really went all out on this controller, Definitely a new way of looking at gear for me. Thanks for teaching this.
Thank KB! It all started due to the failing sliders of the MV. This BCR2K can do so more which is super. I'm also getting the flow to program now sysex and NRPN. A complete new world is opening. I'm thinking of buying also the BCF-2000 to create some kind of master control panel. But that's a plan for the near future ;-) Step by step. Too much ideas to share. We stay in touch!
I’ve been using the iPG-800 app for iPad. It’s $6 and is able to control the MKS70 via MIDI iRig. It’s a great option as well, a little less depth than this but it works like the original hardware unit.
I wish all the "tutorial video" regarding synths would be like yours, thank you. also for the templates
That’s an amazing compliment! 🙏🏽 Thank you so much for sharing that. And also for subbing!
I will do my best to keep the tutorials on a decent level ✌🏽
Thanks for this and your SP808 videos too. But I couldn't help but notice the promise @10:00 for a play around video :) just subscribed - done my bit!
Neil...thank you for subscribing....and yes...thanks for the mirror and reminder.
Unfortunately I sold the MKS soon after this vid so that video will not come...
Oh no!
Why did you go and do a thing like that, @@theMIDImaniac? I’ve had my own MKS module for the last four years as of March 2024, and I’m not letting it go. I don’t play it frequently enough, but I won’t let it go. I hope I’ll eventually get around to having an upgraded this way, but I doubt I’ll try doing it myself.
Hey....the BCR-2000 seems to be a Swiss army knife..i think that, it can control a D-50 or a D-550, since it can transmit sysex..
I like the template you made, nice, neat and tidy works...!!!
Thanks my man!
Yeah...I'm pretty proud on the template myself hahaha.
And yes! You can control the D-50/550. In fact...I found a template consisting of 5 presets to control all parameters. The creator said the MIDI-channel is hardcoded but I changed it already to another MIDI channel with the program BC-Manager.
This BC2K is like you've mentioned...A SWISS army knife. But only in combination with BC-manager.
I invested time in learning sysex and now programming is becoming much more easier. There are some nice RUclips-vids available with good explanations.
Good luck on your sampler-journey!
Grtzzz, Roger
@@theMIDImaniac Roger, i have a question..we both have a JP-8080 and a D-50..(D-550). I think, but i haven't tried it, that since the jp can send sysex, maybe it could be a controller for the d-50..(you see, i don't have a bcr..:). I know, maybe it's not worth, since you would loose the jp-8080 as a synth, (using it as a controller for the d, but..) I wanna dive in the sysex too, i have only wet my feet...:)
Great info, thanks. Have you considered the Kiwi Patch Editor, or are you happy with the BCR2000? I'm looking for something to control a Microwave 1, an MKS-50 and an MKS-70 in the future. I have has two MKS-70s and a PG-800 at one point. For me it's the best sounding analogue poly I have owned.
Thanks a lot!
The BCR2000 is for me an excellent controller because I can program it with BC-Manager in the way I like it.
In the meantime I have created templates for more machines. I still have to upload them to my website though.
Kiwi Patch editor is tempting also, I admit.
How cool would it be to have multiple BCRs in a row for every module :D
I wish there was a working patch manager for vecoven ver 3.x ( like there is for v4.x )as dealing with patches and now banks is still a nightmare. I am not planing on swapping CPU's for ver 4.x.
Hey Roger, wouldn't be possible for a bcr, to work on a D-50(sysex)...???
Patrick Martin yes! I’ve got a template for the D-50.
5 pages full with adjustable parameters.
The Midi-channel is hard coded but I know how to change that.
I will send it to you!
Nice vid. My MKS 70 died but I enjoyed watching nevertheless!
Thanks! Too bad that your MKS-70 died...that's always sad news.
The MIDI Maniac Yes. Sad indeed. I miss it. Maybe I’ll buy it again in the future.
I had one that died but it was resurrected by a good tech who repaired the power supply
Great video, you've got a new subscriber!
I thought you had to do the oled mod for the vecoven FW. btw, where in spain are you? I used to live in Denia/Javea.. miss it so much I want to go back haha
Thanks a lot for taking time to watch, to place a comment and to press the ‘subscribe’-button.
Really appreciated.
Isla Instruments nope!! Not necessary at all. Even with the old screen the upgrade was possible.
And I’m located at the other side of Spain (Baiona, near to Vigo).
We’ve got that typical Celtic weather but with more hours of sun. But also a lot of rain 😉
Regarding the MKS70...too bad but I sold it because of unexpected taxes.
But I kept the MKS50 to have at least a analog synth in my setup 💪🏽💪🏽
Something else, I heard that you’re looking for a cheap MV, right?
What would be cheap for you? Perhaps I find one here locally.
And also it would be great if we could find a solution for the Zip drive of the SP-808.
Anyway...we keep on following each other.
💪🏽👌🏽✌🏽🤙🏽
Du machst deine Sache einfach sehr gut 😎🤘
Vielen dank! Ich möchte gern die Sache gut haben aber nicht zufiel bezahlen ;-)
ola, nice track where can we find it .. :)
Do you have a link to the Midi CC numbers? I have a chart but they don't seem like the right ones.
Tim Mantle hi? Do you have this table?
www.vecoven.com/superjx/downloads/files/SuperJX_NRPN.pdf
Or this list when you have the PWM-upgrade.
www.vecoven.com/superjx/superjx/pwm.html
@@theMIDImaniac This is the table I'm working off but Midi CC #0 Which is supposed to set DCO range is instead affecting the mod wheel amount, I can't get any other midi CC numbers to do anything. Tone CC is set to ON so I can't understand what I might be doing wrong.
