India launch??
Once there is coreboot (or something similar) support, I will get a Framework laptop.
At least for the mainboard, the only things I can think of that'd make the 13 inch "perfect" is:
- LPCAMM2 rather than SODIMM, but also with an optional CAMM2 to SODIMM riser
- changing the Wi-Fi's E key m.2 slot to an E+M key m.2 slot (even a single lane of PCIe 2.0 is still ~500MB/s so why not at least allow NVMe SSD use?)
- replacing the dedicated headphone jack with a 5th expansion card module (as a left-handed mouse user, I'd rather use the headphone jack module located on the right side)
- ability to replace the fans with airjet modules (though this seems like something that could take a while since Frore is such a new company that makes even Framework look established)
- renewed firmware focus and development to support S3 suspend (especially since Framework seems to be doubling-down on Linux)
Is there any chance for an ARM Framework in the future?
You were using an i386 PC in 2003, 2004?!
I like company using their own products with Linux when officially supported.
Lenovo sells thinkpad with “Linux support” and more than one year later still have big problems with power management (now fixed but took 1+ year) and screen psr flickering.
Clearly showed a lack of QA before release and they shouldn’t have advertised Linux support that way.
Thanks Framework, might be my next laptop (the amd one was released just after I bought my thinkpad, I am sad now)
Thanks for the webcam situation explanation. I hope to make my next laptop to be framework, but not until mine 2015 acer can't be saved any more and I can afford and its available in my region
When in India ?
Sadly, I've stopped using -buntu suffixed distros, because Canonical, forces any distro that wants to keep the -buntu suffix, to use snap. Sure, you can disable it, but iirc, it breaks a lot of parts of the OS.
I also don't like flatpack either, so I tend to go toward Arch, Fedora and Debian. But if I had to choose an ubuntu-based distro, it'd be Linux Mint, as it has thrown out snap, and disabled flatpak by default last I checked.
I can't pre order from website :( Website declines my both cards (valid)
Do you have any plans for a Snapdragon X series powered framework?
I am an openSUSE Tumbleweed user :D
Can we have a mate black framework one day? 😢
Aren't body measures available? I mean, you can probably print one and make it mate\glossy\any way you like it?
@@sonickrnd you can't really get good rigidity with 3d printed parts though, so you'd have to CNC it and that'd be really expensive.
I also don't think they have the entire CAD model of the body available (correct me if im wrong pls)
Unfortunate that we cant get this in India. We need this here!
NixOS letsgoooooooo
Hope you guys sell in India soon 😁, can't wait
I don't think he wants to
:( i don't think... i was wait for it since linus mentioned it...
@@vaisakh_km I know they actually can sell it in India they manufacture the laptops in Taiwan I think so it wouldn't be hard to ship it to here guess it will be expensive since we have such high import taxes and the Indian govt wants electronics to be manufactured here , I feel if framework did a model with the motherboard running like an intel n100 or similar low cost model it will sell like hot cakes .
indians too poor, enjoy chromebooks.
Please, Framework, I need you in South Africa 😢
Here is hoping for Biometrics on the Framework Chromebook!
nixos mentioned!
