- the (whole?) truth!
A video diary of my Atlantic crossing in 2013.
The journey leads from the Canary Islands (Tenerife) non-stop to Trinidad in the Caribbean.
My ship Hui-Buh, a Dufour Arpege 30 (1970), was relatively spartanly equipped. Above all, a roller sail system would have made the trip a lot easier. Countless so-called squalls (= gust fronts) required constant, laborious changing of the headsail and kept me busy day and night.
27 days alone at sea - a very formative time for me.
Unfortunately, the sound and picture quality sometimes leave a lot to be desired - I only had minimal filming equiqments (old Gopro camera with a mic).
Ship: Dufour Arpege
Engine: Volvo Penta MD3
Steering system: Windpilot wind steering system, Simrad TP10 tiller pilot
