  • Chrysler Dodge Dealership Epic Fail!
This video chronicles the horrible service experience we had at our local Chrysler dealer. We will certainly NEVER go back there.
Experiences like this is why 7 in 10 customers won’t come back to the dealer for service! It's absolutely mind boggling that this kind of stuff still goes on given that consumer expectations are at an all time high. We will no longer tolerate or put up with horrible customer service. What we experienced at this Chrysler Dodge dealership was beyond horrible and the story won't end here. And sadly, this isn't our only bad experience with the group.
Dealers that fail to develop a winning culture or invest in training are the ones that not only lose out on business in an ever so competitive service market, but they make other dealers that actually care look bad. These people make it abundantly clear that they just don't care... On my way out when I shared with the service advisor what a horrendous experience it was, he looked at me and shrugged his shoulders saying, "I just do what they tell me"... That's it... And they know i'm a Fixed Ops Trainer by profession! SMH
    This is precisely why, #TrainingMatters

@@thewhitetablecloth9912 I had an Infiniti a few years ago. There was a recall on the vehicle and I made a service appointment with the dealership. Note that the closest Infiniti dealership is 70 miles away from me. Anyway, the car broke down two days before the appointment. It was an ECM issue and I was told that only an Infiniti dealership can fix it. I had the car towed there. The diagnosis&repair took 2 weeks. They did not provide me any loaners car. In the meantime, I kept reminding them that there is a recall on the vehicle and please take care of it as well. They kept saying no worries, we will fix it. Anyway, I got a call from them about the repair and they said it is ready to pick up. I drove to the dealership but I learned that they did not complete the recall. The reason was ridiculous: they do not keep anything related to this recall in stock and they place the order after they first see the vehicle, just to make sure that I will show up! I said but the car was here for two weeks, why did not order the part? The response was more ridiculous: they wanted to make sure that they will fix the car. If they cannot, no need to complete the recall. I said ok, let's schedule an appointment and order the part. Then, I gave a call to another dealership (120 miles away from me); scheduled an appointment and have the recall completed there.
I got a call from the stupid dealership a few weeks later that saying they received the part. I said I had it done. The service manager asked me why I did not inform them about that. I said I did not expect you to order the part from my recent experience with you. Then the service manager started to yell at me and said not to bring my car to their dealership anymore, and slammed the phone.

I was a service writer for a few months in between jobs 1 year. It was horrible and soul sucking. Customer would come in for oil change, hour starving mechanics would go over car with a fine tooth comb finding "everything wrong" with it and hand me back a $1-2,000 estimate to sell. Also discovered some recalls are either just bandaids to get the vehicle out of warranty or excuse to get a customer back into dealership service dept. I'll NEVER take my car to dealer for service outside of factory warranty

    • @thewhitetablecloth9912

@@capttrips1523 this scenario does play itself out at dealerships regularly. There’s so much more to it than this. And while this particular dealership offered us a horrible experience, we have had interactions with other dealerships that have been exemplary. We also own Subaru cars and drive an hour from our home in Niantic to service them. We have found this particular group’s Subaru franchise to be equally disinterested in our business. The “salesperson” flat out told us that they were in charge and unless we did things their way, they were not interested in selling us a car so we bought elsewhere.

Because of the age of the car it was not. If it's a recall, then it's covered. There was an actuator that was on the list that was supposedly replaced. Given my experience with the dealer, I can't say for sure if it was and I'm reluctant to let someone else open it back up. But I agree with you, safety items should ALWAYS be covered. Thank you for your input.

I’m almost positive that all airbags on all cars are covered under recall, not a warranty. My 2004 Grand a Cherokee and 2008 Milan still get Mail every once in a while notifying me of recalls from the manufacturer and that I can have it fixed free of charge at the local dealership. But wait till you hear what my Chrysler dealership tried to pull on me! I could write a book. Seriously. 14 years, bought car new 2006, got Lifetime Bumper To Bumper Warranty (Max Care Plus) when factory warranty expired. The good part, it never costs me more than $100, unless it’s wear items. Bad part. It rarely gets fixed the first time. They drag their feet. My car has been at that dealership fir more than a mont at a time on several occasions, and the excuses they give seem a bit of a stretch. They’re simply trying to frustrate me out of the car. They want me to give up and sell the car so they don’t have to fulfill their end of the contract. That is fraud. It would be simple to price that they don’t or never had the intent of fulfilling their obligation, meaning the warranty is fraudulent if it was for life but they obviously don’t want to do the work. It’s so bad, I challenged them on a non-alignment issue where they charged me fir an alignment that was needed as a result of them doing rear diff work and I shouldn’t have had to pay for it, as the car drive straight and the tires wore evenly when I brought it in. When it came out after I paid for the alignment I never wanted to pay for, it pulled to the right pretty obviously, and multiple other issues. Service manager told me I was wrong and that the alignment was “perfect”. I asked for proof, and he said he had NEVER had another customer complain. I told him I’d like to record him saying that again, and I did. He told me to take the car to another shop and get it aligned and if he was wrong he’d pay for it. I told him no. If another shop touches the car, then the dealership can make any claim they want after that, and I told him that this car was bought new at this dealership which represents the manufacturer of the vehicle and that if they couldn’t get it right, no one SHOULD be able to. I took it to another shop for back tires and had them print up it’s alignment status. It was a mess! Then when I tried to get it fixed again a month later for AC compressor work, they told me I had been banned! They made up and embellished stories as an excuse to ban me. I emailed the parent company, Rick Hendrick Auto Group, and they responded in kind and took care of the problem and had me “un-banned”. This was just one of dozens of stories, some worse, some comical, and just this last fall, it needed a rear main seal and crank position sensor. That’s a total of about 5 hrs of work from what I understand. They had the car for 6 WEEKS! It all started right after I bought it, and has been a hassle ever since. But this dealership is 1/2 mile form my house, it’s where I bought the car new, and the only other Chrysler dealership around is even WORSE! Believe me I tried them early on! I would rather fix whatever I can on my car myself than take it in to them, where I pay a $100 deductible. They have lied to me a defrauded me so many times it’s not even funny. I need to talk to people who have had outrageous experiences at Chrysler dealerships. My 14 years has been one long outrageous experience.

      @andrewhigdon8346 3 года назад +2

@@thewhitetablecloth9912 well you are correct, that’s why I said “should”, but I meant to not say warranty and meant bulletin or recall. The NHTSA tests vehicles if there are enough complaints, especially if they are safety related. Here’s the crazy thing. GM had a recall fir an ignition switch which would allow the car to shut off, losing engine power, and thus power steering and power brakes. They called that dangerous and I agree. Yes, people who know better can overcome the brake and steering change. But fir most people it’s dangerous. But the Chrysler Lx cars do just that, stall, shut off, whatever you want to call it, it is dangerous. But they specifically classified this issue as “not dangerous” as “it usually occurs at low speed when approaching or leaving a stop.” That’s patently not true. Most people say their car shouts off after filling the gas tank, and it turns out that ethanol affects the valve responsible for the gas tank vent when refilling. That’s why on any modern car it sometimes is hard to put more than a few gallons of fuel in at a time. So at first it was about 18 months worth of build dates. Then they finally extended it to all from 2005-2008(I think 08). But when you correspond with most dealerships, you have to say a magic code to get their memory refreshed. Reports are that a lot of Service Managers and General.Managers will claim they’ve never heard of the covered repair. Chrysler ended up calling it an Extended Lifetime Warranty on the gas tanks for those cars. But the airbag thing is an established safety issue, unless the issue has nothing to do with blowing up in your face or not going off at all. Most people, including myself, don’t realize the degrees of consumer rights we have. Check out the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, especially the Implied Warranty section. When there is a chronic failure of merchandise outside of warranty but far within established expected duration of service/use, then people will complain, and if there are enough, the manufacturer may become responsible for addressing the problem. Like if every lawnmower over the last 40 years lasted 3-7 years or more, and suddenly a particular model, line, or type of mower lasted just out of warranty, say 2 1/2 years, with a two year warranty, and a significant percentage of that type, model, or series, line, has a real failure, inconsistent with established expectations for duration of service, then there could be a problem. If every Chevy full-size truck had a warranty if 3 years/30,000 miles, and between month 40 and 60 the wheels were splitting down the center, there would be an investigation and potentially a recall. They aren’t going to do a recall because a cosmetic effect failed, if it didn’t impact safety at all.

They aren’t trained to make diagnostic repairs, they are trained to plug in a computer and change whatever part it says is faulty. If no part is declared faulty they automatically change whatever part is suspected for the issue.

I brought a 1 year old vehicle in for service with less than 5000 miles to the dealer. The most important thing I said that needed to be done was the annual state inspection. After waiting almost 3 hours I get get the car back, drive home, crack a beer and go inside. I walk back into the garage, look at the windshield and no state inspection was done. I called the service manager, I spoke, he listened. I won't be back. I'll use my local garage I've been using for many years regardless if I have to pay for it.

Unfortunately, many are terrible when a repair falls outside of the everyday or a repair attempt goes south. This goes for dealers and independents. You cannot judge them by the smooth routine repairs. Its when issues arise that the cream rises to the top and unfortunately very few will perform well when a difficult situation arises. Most dealerships will behave like yours did when things go south.
Newer cars under warranty need to go to dealers BUT you still need to do your research and locate a dealer with a high quality service dept. He said that in the week the weather changed many times from hot to cold and it was my fault that it came back on, surprisingly they fixed the problem the second time by clearing the code, the system was never broken it was a short in a fuse, the fuse cost $5 but i got charged $1,000, got blamed for the problem, got in an accident on the way to the dealership, waited 5 hours for a “diagnostic” and had to pay for the gas it cost me for the 6 trips i had to make, never going back.

I love my mustang, but dealer and service network ranges from mediocre to poor in my experience. When I eventually replaced the original rotors/pads at the dealer service department, I had to deal with a few careless individuals over my brake job. I brought it back in due to excessive brake squeal a week after the service; this was after I noticed a suspicious lack of high temperature grease on the backs of the pads, and around the abutment clips. I was given the usual BS by the service advisor about rust, moisture after sitting, etc, and I stated with a flat expression that those aren't factors after driving for 15 minutes and getting a fair bit of heat into the braking system. Sure enough, they found 2 defective pads that were cracked bilaterally. I wasn't charged because it fell under parts warranty (thankfully), and I did notice that brakes were cleaned and greased upon further inspection. I'm not sure if poor installation or a part defect was responsible, but I'm not happy that customer service wasn't taking my concern over brakes very serious. The next time the car needs work, I'm going to set aside time for research and source the required tools to do it myself, or with friends.

I didn't tell them why I was there, but when asked I told them I was told by my local Dorf dealer that my pads were bad. The claimed they tested the starter all the electrical and manually turned the engine over claiming the engine was good and there was a short in this module and quoted me a whopping $2300 plus tax needless to say I denied the repair and towed the car back home. Days later I met a Chrysler dealer mechanic who offered to look at the car after hours on his time off, he got the car started in less then 3hrs but unfortunately the motor was shot.. needless to say there was no issue with the TIPM and if I would of listened to first dealership I would of been out the $2300 and the car would of still had a bad motor. The code was for the TCM (transmission control module) There's 2 in the truck that they say needed replacing. After almost $1700 worth of repairs, it started acting up and throwing codes again with in a month!! Brought it back to them for warranty work and they told me it was a different issue, even though it was doing the exact same thing and throwing the exact same code!! They told me they needed to keep the truck and go through a series of tests that would take several days at $175 an hour!! I told them I'd take the truck home and check it over myself. So after a few Google searches, I wound up buying a small tube of Dielectric grease and packing the Cannon plug for the TCM on the transmission. Never had a problem again!! I tried taking them to court and got nowhere fast..........

I did and the after it ultimately got fixed I paid the bill. Afterwards, I consulted with several repair shops and after explaining what was on my receipt, the general consensus was that I was probably taken advantage of. What these guys don’t realize is that it’s ultimately costing them more than the took from me. For the 30% they made on a $1,000 part and the 70% they made on roughly $400 labor, the amount they lose on a number of potential customers not going there anymore because of their reputation far exceeds that short term/sighted gain on their part. This isn’t going away. There’s more coming...

Never again. I referred my dad to buy the car at the same dealership where we bought ours. Not a dime for my referral. Also as he was buying the car the sales guy told him if he won't get ext warranty for his brand new car he can't sell him the car. What kind of bullshit is that.

Back in the day (1974) I bought an American Motors car, a Matador. It was a new car and I was having an issue with the front brakes. I brought the car back to the dealership and 2 hours later they told me the car was fixed. When driving the car off the parking area the same issue was still there. I immediately brought the car back to the service manager and he said they would make some adjustments. To make a long story short, it took the dealership almost 3 weeks to fix the problem, a warped right front rotor. I finally had to resort to some aggressive tactics and a few well placed F-bombs. That was the last time I ever set foot in that dealership and it was the last AMC vehicle I bought.
