  • Hey fashion lovers! In this video, I dive into the current state of the second-hand fashion industry and why Vinted has experienced a crazy boom in popularity in the last couple of years. I discuss why Gen Z are the biggest driver of growth in the second-hand industry, and how this links to the current state of the fashion industry, social media’s influence, Gen Z’s buyer habits, and their wider place in our society.

Apologies for the annoying noise interference in the intro - my necklace was tapping my mic! 😅 Are you also addicted to Vinted? Would love to hear your thoughts on why you love it so much!

I downloaded vinted only end of last year (I live in Austria and it took a while until it was available to us at all and for me to notice it) but I love it! I don't have access to good thrift shops here, so I do all of my shopping on vinted. I really like that it keeps things in the circle and I got some really great stuff on there for very reasonable prices. Very interesting that you mention why prices are generally low, I never uploaded something so I didn't know but I was asking myself that.
Now I spent probably 300€ overall on vinted, in a 7 month period. That is way more than I spent in the past year but that is because I was on kind of a no-buy bc I just started to learn how to sew and I promised myself I would never buy anything new again and I nearly kept that promise :) now I want to tone down my use of the app, I got a lot of things that I was missing in my wardrobe like basic tops etc that are really hard to find secondhand (and boring to sew), but I found myself addicted to look for new stuff everyday and I want to chill :D
It is mind blowing to me how many items of clothing there are on vinted. If you search by brand, h&m alone will throw up 55 MILLION items? zara another 56mio. crazy. I don't know if that is just my market (austria-italy-france) or if that includes other markets as well (uk, germany, benelux etc). with this kind of selection, why would you ever need to buy something new again honestly...
really enjoyed this video, keep it up :)

Thanks so much for sharing (and for your kind feedback)! 😊 I've also found the app great for filling gaps in my wardrobe with cheap basics, but it's so easy to become addicted to always seeking out the next bargain or being worried about missing out on something you like (in case someone else buys it). I'm currently trying to calm down on my Vinted purchasing too🙈 The amount of clothing on there is insane, it's the same for the UK. I agree that with the huge selection, it's easy to find pretty much anything on there - I rarely buy new clothes now at all! Best with your sewing too! 🪡

Hi Lottie, do you think using VInted to sell books is a good strategy ? I just started Vinted and managed to sell like 3 items

Good question! I’ve only ever sold clothes/shoes in Vinted, so can’t speak much from personal experience about other categories. I don’t see the harm in listing books on there though, and have definitely noticed more people doing it recently so reckon it will grow in popularity (particularly during to limited alternative/better places to sell them). Would love to hear how it goes if you do! 📚

It's an awesome app - I recommend checking it out if you can (although do so at your bank account's risk) 😅

I think it would help your audio to not wear a necklace, as it bumps the mic! But thank you for this video!
