I just bought one of these Lyle C-640 last week for $125, it was made in 1965 and the sound is incredible. What an undervalued, made in japan instrument!
I still had the Lyle C-640, bought it at the music shop in downtown Portland in 1976. It was made in Japan and still sound beautiful, sound better than Yamaha guitar. Tried many different guitars and none of them came close to the Lyle C-640
I have inherited my mother's Lyle C-640 which she also obtained in Portland, probably between 73-75. I just had it re-strung and professionally serviced. It sounds wonderful.
I have one of these and my goodness are they under rated.. still sounds lovely after all these years. and for what I paid, cannot touch it with any new guitar... it's the old wood.. can't buy that stuff now
I recently found and purchased LYLE C-640 AND A C-650, WHAT ARE THE BEST STRINGS FOR THESE GUITARS. i DON'T MIND A STIFFER STRING, BUT CURRENTLY USING PRO ARTE MEDIUM,IT FEELS TOO SOFT FOR ME?

I would use normal (in your case probably high tension) Labella Flamenco strings 2001 (black nylon)
@@-all-or2ul Thank you I just ordered some labella mediums but I am going to order what you suggested .
You are an awesome player! I guess you installed those beautiful new Tuning Machine Heads. What brand are those, and where can I get them from?
Watch the video about setting up the nut and saddle of my Yamaha. It shows the ebay seller of where I buy the tuners.
Is it all solid or not? Thank you.
The top is solid, back and sides laminated
Disculpen quiero comprar una en cuanto esta el precio
