@Lee-km7qq Exactly. I worked on The Acolyte and it will not shock you one bit to learn that there are departments that are female DOMINATED and male DOMINATED. For example, Costume and Makeup are FEMALE dominated. Lighting and Construction are MALE dominated.
In line with BECTU rates, those in Lighting and Construction are guided to be paid a higher day rate.
Hence, Disney have done nothing wrong in this specific instance. If you believe a makeup artist should be paid the same as a spark then you'd have to argue your case with BECTU.

As someone explained in another video...if you're not using a third-party studio to produce your content (example: a big company selects Amazon to produce a show based on their IP, etc.) ...that money goes back into Disney pockets. So, Eiger's pension/paycheck, Hedland's pension/paycheck, Kennedy's pension/paycheck.
They can literally pay themselves to do nothing. I'd imagine an easy third of that money went nowhere near the actual show production.

I know what to do but convincing alot of other people to boycott bbc an disney apps/services is a hard a political minefield. But it works that's the power people have a comapines fear it. Lighting and rigging and cameras and literally any job on a set with any legitimate importance is all males. It's hard work, takes actual skill. Lots of girls on set are like runners and in the production room literally doing nothing but chatting and eating all day...
Me and my friends occasionally work on Hollywood films like Thor, King Kong, Elvis etc...
Girls absolutely rule at crafties and running, but yeah nah it's not the same job as literally carpentry, gaffing, rigging etc all the legitimate work on set.
There needs to be some clarification on that pay thing . ARE THE JOBS THE SAME or totally different .
Probably pay according to job title, but lefites believe that the floor sweeper should get the same as a film director.
As with all reports of "unequal pay" I cannot see the proof that they are paying women less here. They say "Across the entire workforce, women are paid 20% less." Ok, what job roles have more women in? If there are more women in the cleaning and running departments and the highly-paid jobs are mostly employed by men, then that would be why. If they want to show women are paid less, then show the average wage for each role - this will also have to be controlled for length of time employed, the performance of the individual and the financial status of the company each year. But they won't do that because the truth is that it is illegal to pay people less based on their sex and the real figures would show that women have roughly the same wage, and sometimes get unfairly paid more in order to "correct" the mythical wage gap. So if they could actually show it, they would be able to get the lawyers involved. Instead they can only manipulate figures to suggest it.

This is ridiculous. Does the talent pool available for the highest pay band contain enough qualified female candidates? Education, training, experience are all included when looking for talent. And what job categories are included in that highest pay ban? Sorry, I had to staff projects for years and always had to be able to get the most qualified for the best cost. Is this any different?

And here’s a bigger question given the fact of the acolytes budget where did the money go if she didn’t spend it on giving the staff more money and she obviously didn’t spend it on production quality where did the money go because that’s a good question. Another good question is if this is one show in Disney, that is doing this didn’t pay its female staff and people of color staff more money. Does Disney do the same thing throughout the entire company and if they do, this is just an example of them thing and doing another other words they’ll breach to us that we need to be more equal equality and all this other bullshit but when it comes to their own house, they refused to do it, that’s called hypocrisy that’s called. Add another label to disrespect people has a lot of sins and they’re all being drugged out and they’re all being put on display. This is what happens when you go down that path. This is what happens when you decide to bring politics, especially identity politics, your entertainment company, this is what happens. This is called Karma and she’s not finished with Bob yet.

The writer of this article just doesnt understand basic maths and how averages work. Movie making is still a male dominated industry, you cant force women to learn carpentry or electronics if they dont want to, so most of the skilled labour is still men.

I don't give a sh_t about pay equality...to me it's a nothing burger. You are paid what you're worth...and more importantly what you accept. Amusingly, many years ago when they were doing some documentary-level stuff on the supposed pay-gap, they asked one employer why Male employee A received 30% more than Female employee B...and they simply stated both employees were offered the job...the female employee took the job immediately...the male employee negotiated for more...hence earned more. Imagine that. 'Why are you paying him more?' - 'He asked for more.'.
However, like you...I do find it amusing when they're pretending to be "forcing change", etc...while not doing anything different from anyone else.
