@@MrZackavelli wrong on these. Hakeem was in his mature prime, Shaq in his 3rd year, and still Shaq gave him 28pts on 60% lol. Duncan as seen in this very video couldn't hope to defend him alone and struggled deeply even as the Twin towers with Robinson. Shaq gave Ben Wallace and the Pistons 26.5pts on a monster 63%FG. Finally, Rodman did very very well for a 6'8 forward, but Shaq was still being Shaq.
Shaq’s been my favorite player ever since I was introduced to basketball in the first grade.. I’ve seen a lot of highlight compilations. This one takes the cake, a lot of this stuff hasn’t been seen before. Great digging for these clips!!
The guy was so unstoppable that when he was under the basket, all the players on the other team would guard him at the same time and he couldn't. Pure dominance that no one has ever seen before and I highly doubt we will see again in the future.
Being from Portland, growing up I LOVED going to Blazer games when the Lakers came into town. Great rivalry and I always thought and still do think that Sabonis guarded Shaq as well as anyone possibly could. BUT that being said, no one could come close to stopping him. Joy to watch.
Everyone always gives his MVP season more attention and rightfully so, but this was still a great follow up. Really picked it up later in the season and then was a monster in the playoffs.
The first NBA player I've ever seen. I was 5 or 6, I remember my dad watching a game on the TV, it's halfcourt then suddenly a big dude appeared making everyone appear small. I ask "Who's that?" He said "Shaquille" ❤
2001 MVP Shaq was a monster. You absolutely could not stop him without fouling him. And despite guys doing everything they could to prevent him from scoring he still shot over 65% from the field I believe. Incredible.
Even here at well over 300 lbs he’s still super explosive and incredibly agile with underrated footwork. Was truly a 1 of 1 athlete. I’ve yet to see a 7’1 300 lbs big that comes anywhere close to being as mobile and explosive as shaq was. Shaq is what happens when you give someone a frame that’s already unfair and athleticism of a forward with the tenacity of a boxer than wants to dunk every chance they get. To me he is the most underrated athlete maybe ever.
14:53 is just ridiculous, he made Mutombo look like a regular high-school guy on that play. Just a human tank with a soft touch to finish around the rim if needed.
7’1 325 lbs with supposedly a terrible work ethic and still the most physically imposing player to ever play the game. Had the speed of a forward, maybe the most underrated athlete ever. No one will ever come close to the nuclear level of explosiveness of a guy with that frame again. To explode through contact the way he did is truly insane.
I too was a die hard Laker fan, but, was watching them before Kobe and Shaq showed up tho, when they did show up it was-HAMMER-time. LOL. But,they could never get pass the 2nd round with all that talent,Shaq,Kobe,Eddie Jones,Nick the Quick,Eldon Campbell,etc,etc,..then Phil & his coaching staff shows up,they get rid of all the players I just listed ( bring in other players to fit roles on the team ) then start winning-CHIPS-like it was going outta style. LOL.
Wilt was the most dominant player ever. However, Shaq is the second most dominant player in NBA history. My two favorite NBA players. Incredible athletes! Both are severely underrated.
@@MrZackavelli Wilt played against 6 ft-7/8 guys early in his career, that's why he was busting Bill Russel's &&& and setting all kinds of records. There were no other 7 footers until Kareem arrived in the nba,Wilt said in an interview ( you can view it on youtube ) the only time in his career he needed help ( a double team ) guarding another center was when he played Karreem.
shaq is like the over sized lebron without a outside game. man how do you stop this guy if you are task to guard him during his prime, the only way to make him miss is to foul him, what a beast
Hey Folks. I have been a Lakers fan for almost sixty years. I do have a question though. What exactly is meant by Shaq being the most dominant player ever? I mean is it referring to scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, what? 🤷🏽♂️ I remember watching both Shaq and Stanley Roberts while they were at LSU. I believe Chris Jackson (before he changed his name) was on that team as well. Listen, I watched Shaq play during his entire career. Shaq was definitely dominant offensively, he really couldn’t be guarded. The sad part of Shaq’s career is that I can’t remember him ever leading the league in Rebounding. Players like Wilt, Bill Russell, Dennis Rodman, and Dwight Howard were better defensively and more dominant!! Finally, the goat and the most dominant player to ever play was Wilt Chamberlain. Do some research and find out! ✌️
Mutombo best D center of the time.. child's play for shaq.. only thingi would've seen Shaq do is get some Hakeem when he got to that point.. but one was there and one wasn't vice versa.. that prime Hakeem and the 00 ,01 shaq.. get your 🍿 ready!

He’s number #2 behind wilt as far as most dominate, got swept way too many times as a superstar on the biggest stages imo, more sweeps than any superstar. But not denying he’s still unstoppable and the only back to back to back fmvp since jordan.
Wilt does everything better. Russell does everything but scoring better. Kareem does everything but rebounding better. Hakeem is a better defender and almost as unstoppable of a scorer and doesn’t commit offensive fouls to get his pts.
