Thanks for posting this Bill. I grew up in Whitestone Queens and the 88 season brings back alot of memories. The 88 Mets were amazing in the regular season. We know they lost to the Dodgers in the playoffs. Give the Dodgers credit. Orel Hershiser and Kirk Gibson were great in that playoff series verse the Mets.
Dan Livni Glad you liked it. I agree, great regular season, very strong team that just ran into a really hot Dodgers club. The good comments and likes I continue to get make the work of compiling these videos worth the time it took.
If the Mets had Bob Ojeda they probably win the NLCS and the World Series. But he cut his hand in a fucking gardening accident. Typical Mets luck, just like when they lost Duaner Sanchez in 2006 to a fucking Taxi accident after he had the munchies in the middle of the night. That derailed the 2006 team. Unreal.
THOSE WERE DAYS IN THE NL! NO LOUSY DH, NO RUNNER AT 2B TO START EXTRA INNINGS, NO FIVE OR SIX INNING OVERPAID STARTERS. PLAYERS KNEW HOW TO BUNT, STOLEN BASES WERE PART OF THE GAME. THE ANALYTICS DEPT DIDN'T DECIDE WHO PLAYED AND WHERE AND NO LOUSY OVERSHIFT.
The 2015 Mets seems lucky they beat the dodgers in the nlds sweeping the cubs in the nlcs and lose in 5 games to the royals. I rooted for the royals to win and the Mets choke in that World Series. As for the Yankees they were bang up they end up losing to the Astros in 2015 in the wild card game
Nice video, good memories that 88 team was even more loaded than 86 especially offensively but somehow that Dodger team of mediocre players knocked off two powerhouse teams to win it
Thanks for the great memories. Only complaint is so many times there are hard edits, often right before a Home Run or big hit takes place. Any reason for that?
I don't think so. It's just that Pete Rose had a habit of rubbing a lot of people the wrong way. Don't know if you were alive yet but he caused a huge brawl in the 1973 NL Playoffs by sliding hard into Bud Harrelson.

IN THOSE WONDERFUL DAYS THERE WERE STILL TWENTY GAME WINNERS.

Man what I would do to back to the summer of 88 😢
As a Yankees fan I was pulling for the Dodgers in that NLCS yet the Mets had a better team. Just like 2006.

@@Frankieefootballmundial The Mets haven't won in nigh 30 years and it'll be another 30 before they see one.

The Mets won 10 out of 11 (1 game was rained out) from the Dodgers in 88 but lost in 7 in the NLCS.

Pete Rose said you know how much money you just cost me right now with that Call!!! LoL
was there another part to this?
Mets and As were the best teams in baseball in 88. Dodgers got lucky. Plain and simple.
Did the reds and mets fight every year in the late 80s?

Me va
VERY POOR AND LOUSY EDITING OF THESE HIGHLIGHTS.
