So funny that you have to describe a spin dryer… I’m old enough to remember a copper boiler & mangle before days of the twin tub…lol….. my Nan used to dry ‘smalls’ on the plate rack above the cooker😂
It sounds like a big investment, and possibly is, but the house we bought last year has a permanent canopy directly outside the back door. It’s polycarbonate I believe like the frame of a conservatory. I hang the washing on retractable lines under this and by dinner time (teatime) it’s almost dry, even on days where it’s less than 5 degrees C. I then hang it inside overnight and it’s almost always dry the following morning. It’s absolutely changed my routine. I think anywhere that is covered but experiences a breeze would have the same effect ☀️
I’m in the states & have a screened porch that I can use…. Strangely the Americans rarely air dry… … some HOA’s won’t allow clothes lines, so it’s the tumble dryer…
I've had a dehumidifier for years now. It helps with moisture in house ,it has laundry mode for drying washing and it's less than 6 p a hour on laundry mode to use...less on other settings
I’ve been wondering the best way to dry stuff without resorting to the tumble dryer 😬 was considering a pulley maid on my ceiling like yours but I don’t have much space for maidens etc so it’s a pain this time of year through to spring! X
Like you, I'm not relishing damp washing hanging round and not drying on the clothes maid and I'm wondering whether playing a fan on it would help. Washing out on the line dries so much quicker if there's a breeze so I'm thinking that a fan might be the indoor equivalent of a breeze. I'm going to give it a go.
Hi GEMMA… I’m from Kent but what is a whirligig?? I have an electric airer and your tip of double spin really gets it dry in a day. Not sure of the cost ? 🌿
A whirligig is the type of washing line that sticks in the ground with a pole and has a square frame that the clothes hang on. I did wonder if it was a Northern term 🤣

My new washing machine has the extra spin cycle and I absolutely love it.
I do clean sheet Sunday and thank goodness for my electric airer now the weather is cooler x
Clean sheet Tuesday on a rainy day! We just chucked ours over the landing rail, and airer... all dry by next day! The rain won't stop us TOMMERs! 🤣
🤣
Would love comparison on spin dryer vs dehumidifier as I’m contemplating getting one or both!
If I need something to dry quickly, I add a dry towel to my extra spin. Makes a TON of difference! 👍🏼
Yes it does!
Is this in the washing machine?
Yes comparison please spin vs dehumidifier- and follow up to wirleygig cover please

I do use a fan & position it so it goes through the horse triangle & can dry both sides at the same time from the inside…. I also have overhead fans
'The Wheel of the Year has turned' ❤️🍂
Thanks for this Gemma, nice video. Are these instead of your podcasts now ?
I want to bring the podcasts back (I was having a break over Summer) x
