Our Spain and Portugal Trip Fall 2024

Rick and I joined up with Marge and Mike (previously of Knapsack Tours) and headed to Spain and Portugal for an adventure. We started in Madrid, visited Toledo for a day by train, took a train to Alicante and spent 5 days there. Highlights in Alicante included a paella making workshop, a bike ride and a visit to Calpe with local friends. We flew to Porto Portugal and explored for a few days, including a day driving trip to the Douro River Valley wine region. We rented a car and drove to Santiago de Compostela Spain, terminus of the infamous, many route option, Camino pilgrimage. After a few days exploring there, we drove to Guarda Spain for an afternoon of exploration. We returned to Porto and flew to Barcelona where we spent our final four days of touring. We managed to see part of the America's cup and the exterior of La Familia Sagrada as well as Batllo Gaudi and La Pedrera. As Rick likes to say, the trip was a pageant of enrichment.
