    Nice first day.
    I went to most of those places, but it was with the US Navy in 1982. Argentina was fighting with the UK over the Falkland islands, so we couldn't see that. All the waters around the islands were mined! We stopped in punts del este and took a bus over to Monte video. Stayed in Brazil a bit and enjoyed Copa cabana beach and Ipanema beach. I'll be watching the rest of this trip as I subscribed.

    Sadly, they are replacing the fish carpets on some of the Jewel Class. We had none on the Gem in September. We are so looking forward to the Star. We are sailing Lisbon, Azores, Canaries, Morocco, Cadiz and back to Lisbon. We were a little doubtful on the ship but your videos tell us we will be happy on the Star.

    Thank you for sharing your cruise with us all. I have two questions. On how many cruises have you been to reach Sapphire status and was your cabin a solo cabin or did you had to pay the supplement. This cruise will definitely be on my bucket list. I'll be retiring soon and off I go 🙂Can't wait to watch more of your vlogs

    • @MerCruisesSolo
      @MerCruisesSolo  6 месяцев назад

      @@KikiB90 thank you!! I reached sapphire after 13 or so cruises I believe, I’d have to go back and count, but several of them were double/triple or even quadruple points per night because of promotions that NCL was running so you can get to the next level faster. This cabin was not considered solo as they hadn’t introduced that category yet at the time of this cruise and my booking! I believe I paid a small supplement

    Just came across your vlog series for this cruise. I'm taking a South America/Antartica cruise in February 2025. Very similar itinerary. My big question is about the thermal suite on the Star. Since you've done several NCL cruises, did you find the thermal suite package on the Star worth the money? I read conflicting reviews about it and value your opinion about it. Thank you.

    • @MerCruisesSolo
      @MerCruisesSolo  4 дня назад

      personally I found it worth the money - I used the spa area almost every day on this cruise, especially because there are many sea days and the weather is cold about half the time! I also had a sinus infection for a good portion of the cruise and having easy access to hot tea, sauna and steam room made such a difference.

    I will be Norwegian to Alaska on Sept 2026, on May 2026 going princess to Copenhagen 7 day cruise, this the one that concern me it will be my first time alone in Southampton, princess will help me with hotel in the area, an the flight hopefully I can find a straight fly from Austin, have you done any cruises to Europe, next one I am planning is Holland cruise to Norway 2027, waiting on those days to show,

      Southampton is safe and easy to get around by walking or taxi! There are several cruise terminals so make sure you go to the right one where your ship is docked. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time, I've cruised around Europe several times and loved each one of them - such unique cities and ports!

      @@MerCruisesSolo I will probably be going solo and the flights to and from Buenos Aires will be tough with an 18 hour gap between disembarkation and my scheduled flight back home to KY. Hopefully there will be a city tour in Buenos Aires to help pass the time. I just wish I could spend more than the seven hours in Ushuaia because NCL does not offer a 16 day cruise this year, only 14 day cruises. Your videos are very insightful and will help me on my travel to my seventh continent. THANKS!

    So these a cabins are for two people and if you travel solo you have to pay twice?

    • @MerCruisesSolo
      @MerCruisesSolo  Месяц назад

      @@maxl2081 no, NCL now has solo cabins designated for only one person on all their ships across multiple categories: Inside, Oceanview and Balcony. If you book one of those solo cabins you only pay for one person. If they aren’t available and you’re booking solo, you may have to pay a supplement but NCL runs solo traveler specials all the time where the supplement is reduced and you’re not paying double.

    I'm taking the same ship with the same itinerary in February. I can't find reliable info about the visa necessary...
    As a french I'm exempted of visa for Chile and Urugay for travel inferior to 3 month and from the Falkland for travel inferior to 30 days, but in this last case I have to justify enough money (which the sum I couldn't find but I should be fine) and a lodging reservation and a itinerary with ticket of entry and leaving the island which the cruise ticket cover both the lodging and itinerary.
    My question, do I still need anything administrative wise since I'm exempt of visa? I really don't want to be refused boarding...
    In the video you went through immigration in Argentina, does that mean the return in Ushuaia count as a reentry in the country? if yes is there any administrative thing to do before the cruise knowing I stay a bit in argentina before the cruise but overall the travel before and after are vastly less than the 90 days of exemption?
    It is my first cruise and my mail to the company are always answered with the link to the website which has only very general info...

    • @MerCruisesSolo
      @MerCruisesSolo  23 дня назад

      @@especedelapin the cruise line will communicate all of the necessary immigration requirements while on board, but I can’t speak to Visa requirements as they can change and are different based on your passport, I would definitely recommend to go to the NCL website and check the detailed information provided as to what you need ahead of the cruise. I hope you have an amazing trip!

    I liked the vlog overall. My favorite part was when you stood in front of the full length mirror and said "this mirror is gonna be a problem showing my outfits, if you care". I don't care because I'm a man. The point I want to make is that by saying if you care, you came across as not being a diva, or a fashionista. Which made me glad that I clicked on your vlog, because I've been burned in the past by watching vlogs from women cruising solo who turned out to have these diva tendencies.
    You are an attractive woman who came to have a fun, memorable vacation. Which is what I want to watch, and I am looking forward to the rest of your vlogs.

    I can't say I'm crazy about the cruise line holding everyone's passports for the duration of the cruise. I understand the intent, especially in a tender port. But I'd feel a lot more comfortable having my passport with me while in a foreign country. What happens if you get asked for it by police officers (which happens in some countries)? Or if, heaven forbid, you need to get medical care while in a foreign port?

    • @MerCruisesSolo
      @MerCruisesSolo  Год назад +1

      If there’s an emergency, the ship would provide your passport as needed - on our cruise, a group of folks got left behind (they showed up hours after departure time) at our last port, and the ship retrieved their passports and left them with the port authority so they would be able to travel to the next destination. I always have a photocopy of my passport with me, but I never bring my physical passport off the ship on any cruise in any country, it always stays in the safe in case of theft!

    Good job. We were on this same cruise with you. We were also on the two prior Star itineraries, boarding in Lisbon. You may want to look up what happened on the cruise (same Norwegian Star Antarctic itinerary - a few cruises after the one you just reviewed) ... ruclips.net/video/Bss41dRFC2Y/видео.html. It would be interesting to get your impression of what NCL did, essentially declaring a "slow order" for Star for the remaining three "Antarctic" itineraries, making them generally South America at sea itineraries. The passengers seemed pretty upset, especially with no notice or compensation of the major itinerary changes. Lastly, I appreciate the tone and tenor of your videos, so much so that this is the first comment I've made to any of the hundreds of cruise videos I have watched. Looking forward to future videos.

    • @MerCruisesSolo

      Thank you so much for your kind words! I have heard what's going on with the later itineraries, and I am so disappointed in the lack of communication and transparency from NCL. I understand there's plenty of fine print in the cruise contract allowing them to make changes for any reason, but if I had been on one of these changed itineraries, I'd feel the same as the upset and angry passengers. These types of itinerary conflicts (if that's the reason?) should be cleared up far before folks are boarding the ship. I hope NCL makes it right for the passengers affected, but I am so grateful to have had the itinerary that was originally planned, and did love every minute!
